What's always worth pointing out is that today's mid-size trucks are effectively yesterday's full size trucks. This Colorado is the size of a '90's - 00's Silverado.
I purchased the bison about a month ago. I’ve taken it off road as well as my daily driver. I love it. Only thing i hate is it has no digital rear view mirror and the wireless charger doesn’t work. Gas milage varies city i get around 16.4 miles and highway around 18.5. It says 16/16 but it does get better on highway. I have gotten used to the no functional rear view mirror by adjusting my side view mirrors and if i need to see behind me quickly i just use the camera. Great review though. My wife that is 5’5 loves to drive it and just shimmies right on up in it. I purchased a foldable step stool, that i keep in the back seat, and my 87 year old mother uses to get into the truck without any assistance. So far I’m loving this truck and i came from a 2010 taco!
The thing I've always liked about Alanis is that you can tell she's really an enthusiast. Even when theres a criticism, its from a perspective that "cars arent perfect, but what a time to be alive".
My Dad had, and my brother still has, full sized trucks and occasionally mid or compact. So I have been around them my whole 55 years … and this is one of the best truck reviews I’ve ever seen. You actually do what they did/do with thier trucks. Some woods Some roads Some city Very excellent! Keep these great reviews coming Alanis 🤠
You somehow made a review of this uninteresting-to-me vehicle worth watching for 30+ minutes with great editing and humor--well done! Digging the new channel thumbnail too.
I’ve been watching ZR2 Bison reviews for the last few weeks and finally got around to yours and I will say, it’s my favorite one so far. We all get it- this truck is a BEAST off roading, and there are plenty of reviews that show this off. What I appreciate is the viewpoint of just driving this truck day to day because 90% of the time, that’s what people will use this $65k for. Love the humor, music, and just your overall vibe of it. The criticisms are definitely welcomed and just being real about having to deal with the cons of the truck. Keep it up!
One caveat in this video: I talk about how cool the startup graphic is in the Colorado, but after I talked about it, WE COULDN'T GET THE TRUCK TO DO IT AGAIN. That's why you don't see it as b-roll!
That Raptor looked like it was screaming “get back into your place, little one. Let the big boys do the taking” 😂. Good review! I love how this truck look.
Had my ZR2 for just a week now. I am still learning all the features. The front plastic fender skirts are loose but they are taking care of that on Monday. Poor gas mileage, but who cares, right .
Wonderful job Alanis!!! This hypes me up because I can only imagine what you'll do with a truck like this Colorado and go fully off-road for the entire review!!! Also, I love the fact that even though this is a big, huge, brawny truck....you still have that classical music! Lol! I love it!! I was waiting for the "Welcome to the Jungle" guitar riff! 😆
I'm surprised how tall the ZR2 Bison actually is. You were practically the same height as an F-150 Raptor at 24:40!! I totally agree with the need for a rearview camera mirror, at least in the configuration you drove. Like you said, GM has that option in many models and it works really well. Having that huge spare tire really cuts out your rear visibility.
I really enjoyed this video. Been thinking of buying a Colorado for a while now, this new body style is so cool. Just discovered your channel too, you got a new subscriber.
Another great video! The litter jump cuts point out the truck were great. Having to use the infotainment to gets your lights on. That's a complete head scratcher for me.
Great review, this truck is far from anything I'd personally be interested in but well done! Congrats on hitting the 20K subscriber mark by the way! On another note, it would be unreal if you would be able to review another performance car like a Mini Cooper S or Porsche 911 at some point.
Nice video. This version is so much better looking than previous versions (Malibu front end cracked me up!) Can’t they rotate the spare 90deg so it’s the same orientation as the other wheels? The missing headlights button is another dumb quirk - when it breaks good luck fixing it
The rear tire blocking the rear view seems to be a gripe with alot of people. Me, personally, I love it. At first when I test drove a Bison I thought “wtaf is this thing?” But I overlooked it and drove off the lot with my bison same day. As I’ve driven it, I’ve come to appreciate the rear view being blocked so I can’t see a**holes tailgating me when I’m already going 10+ over the speed limit. They don’t exist, because I can’t see them, therefore, not my problem :)
Very thorough review, nice job! Your presentation and editing is getting better with each video. Chevy is really milking the 2.7 for all it's worth. I'm surprised they aren't offering a variant of their 3.0TT in these upper trims, especially considering the Ranger Raptor offers exactly that.
Love the film style and keep it coming! You should eventually do a build collab or something with big time, or a cameo on cars and bids podcast! Much love from Atlanta ❤️💛💚
@@AlanisKing yeah i know its going to take time building a channel but you guys are doing great. you guys seem to already know what works and what people want (good honest car reviews with personality and humor) keep it up 👍
Make small trucks cool again! I loved the original Colorado’s size and look, would be perfect if it came out today. Maybe Chevy should make a Maverick competitor! 😂
Anyone else find it hard to be interested in a truck when Alanis is on screen 😅😅 deffo seeing more and more of these, which btw in the UK aren’t considered mid size, but more ‘extremely flipping massive mate’… and “I can’t park it in the spaces at Waitrose”…. 😂
Yeah, that no digital rear view mirror is a massive oversight on GM’s part, especially with that 35 blocking so much of the view. I own a Silverado 1500 ZR2 and had to haul an AC unit, and it blocked so much of my rear view that I had to use the digital camera mirror to see at all. Massive safety issue for sure on that Bison Colorado.
I have a Colorado ZR2 bison 2024 and I have saved for 20 years for a new truck. I am glad I waited for this model. I absolutely love this truck. Love everything about it. Not a single things about it not to like.
I'll be honest, some of the older Colorados were pretty ugly in Chevrolet spec. I see a little bit of Tundra in some of the design cues and that's not a bad thing. Great video as always Alanis :)
For a comparison, my 2018 Silverado 2WD gets 22 mpg normally, even loaded, up to 28 mpg best. It has a 5.3L V8 that goes to 4 cylinder when cruising. Why didn't they just put the 5.3 in the Colorado? Of course, the axle ratio has a lot to do with gas mileage.
Everything is bigger except the back seats. It's too bad. Used to have a first gen s10. I would love a midsize if my three kids (one is very tall) could fit comfortably in the back. Bought a new Sierra to replace my 2002 Sierra largely due to the back seat space.
That's wild that the gas mileage is that bad. My 8000lb van gets around 15mpg with a 5.3l v8. But if you can afford the payment for the truck you can probably can get gas.
Good video. The hat plus the lighting situation makes it so we can't see your face or eyes at least. I don't know for certain but I feel like being able to feel like a presenter is looking at you probably is a positive thing.
I’ve had my bison for a month now and that doesn’t bother me now. I adjust my side view mirrors and use the camera. I don’t get why they don’t use a digital rear mirror since the one in the car is useless.
It feels like what this thing needs, ironically, is even wider fender flares. Hear me out. The biggest problem with this truck is steering angle. A wider front track would, of course, need to be complemented by a wider rear track as well. To get the tires to stay legal from the factory, it would need EVEN more fender clearance - and that clearance can't come from the inner fenders.

Normally you convince me I'm into cars I would not be interested in otherwise. This one did the opposite. I wanted one of these but now I really don't for sooooo many reasons like there being so many cameras but no rear-view camera in a truck you can't see behind you
Hahahaha I really did enjoy this truck. I left the week being really into it, whereas I wasn’t tripping over myself to drive it before I got it. But it does have some huge compromises. Thanks for watching 🤠
