    No mention of the Opel GT? It obviously got a lot of it's design cues from the mako shark concept and C3 corvette, as well as influence from this.

    I always thought this concept looked like a 1:1 Hot Wheels Twill Mill without the exposed engines. Or at least the basis for the Twin mill.

    • @martinharris5017
      @martinharris5017 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Exactly! I came here to say that very thing! Can't remember if it was Ed Newton or Larry Erikson who designed Twin Mill but there's certainly a strong resemblance.
      BTW they did eventually build a full size fully functional Twin Mill for Mattel promo at car shows.

    Wayne Cherry and Leo Pruneau are amongst the most unsung car design legends ever. Opel will fiercely deny it but ever since Vauxhall and Opel's design team's were merged into GM Europe in the 80s, the styling influence has been far more Vauxhall than Opel, even if the engineering was heavily the latter.

    I don’t understand why they would destroy the cars. Should have been in museums.

  • @shanehnorman

    Bill Thomas' Cheetah, launched in 1964, could have been the styling inspiration for this.

      No... one of the vette designers was in on this. It was a concept car that could've been either a vette or a TVR. Seems like the designers were trying to make money off their work one way or another. And cant blame them. That how they make their money.

    • @shanehnorman

      @@Alex-kp2db Agree the front-end treatment is very 'Vette - but a much later model, interestingly.

    Why on earth would they destroy the one metal and touring version of this automobile?
    What a waste of the time and effort put into such a vehicle, even if they had no plans of producing more of these vehicles.

    This is the first I'm hearing about this concept car, and is the last thing I would expect from Vauxhall. It's interesting that American designers look to Europe for inspiration, and European designers return the compliment. I wouldn't be surprised if this design influenced the Dodge Charger III Show Car that came out a few years later . . . .
    It's too bad Airfix never came out with a model of this. I think it would have sold well.
    Thanks for making and sharing!

    Looks like a copy of the corvette stingray, but that’s not surprising considering a man from Chevrolet worked on designing it. Looks like a corvette with a more pointed nose and a different rear section
