  • July 21, 2022 Orientation for our Gorilla Trek is held at the Volcano National Park Headquarters, where we meet our guide, Eugene. Just our group of 5 from Overseas Adventure Travel, so we got a private trek. I joined Marc and Pat Gruber, plus Don and Karen Covey. What are the odds, we're all from Florida. An hour and a half drive to our location, and we luck out again; we're visiting the Igisha Gorilla family that has 34 members in its troop. We hiked 1hr 15min uphill through a bamboo forest dotted with stinging nettles to meet our tracker. Dropped our backpacks, left our walking sticks, put on our masks and we got our cameras ready; gorillas were nearby. Eugene counted 24 gorillas in our presence; here's our adventure, enjoy the video.

    One of these days one of these rich people are going to get torn apart by these gorillas.
    Really shouldn't be bothering them in any form whatsoever yet here we are.

    i saw another video where the gorillas were playing with the keeper, and the comments were turned off. So i guess people were saying bad things about the human. What I saw was scary and loving. With any luck the world will find out how important other life is on this planet. If we have to play chase, then we have the play chase. We humans are slow learners and have much to learn about the eden where we live.

      And then one attacks and tears apart one of these rich a-holes. Because people are stupid.
      And most likely the Gorillas will suffer for it.

    They’re trained to interact with people, that’s what protects them , is tourism and money .

      No before tourism they was living in the mountains just find with Africans who left the! Alome. Even when the first colonizer so call researchers who came to Africa and was told they are gorillas living in the mountains. It means that the Africans knew and let them be. It was the colonizers that came and kidnapped the baby gorilla that caused the silverback and the rest of the gorilla family to fight until death to try and save the baby gorillas. That was taken from its family and ship to the united Kingdom, frannce,spain,denmark,Portugal,,Belgium, Netherlands, Germany,America,

    I know they need the tourism money but after watching idk if it’s a good idea to be taking all these people around these animals……that guy had to pull a machete on one of them 🥺 I totally get wanting to do this, I’d love to do this but after seeing this I’m not so sure it’s the right thing to do. I didn’t get the impression at any point that those gorillas wanted the people around them like that….

      exactly, these scumbags are following them around everyday that puts stress on them after awhile. they shouldn't be allowed to do this ,only 2 times a year maybe and should have to be farther back and not right on them

    STOP aiming your machete at these beautiful creatures. Leave them alone. It's not okay to invade their territory and threaten them.

      Chances are one was going to attack one of the tourists that pay a substantial amount of money to be there for this experience. If you were a guide, would you just let the gorilla attack your client who you are responsible for ? Then you lose your job and can’t feed your family trapped in poverty ? I live in Africa and have a deep respect for wild animals, giving them their space and practicing absolute caution but I’m just explaining this situation logically. I find it devastating when beautiful creatures are mistreated, poached or what have you / but you must also understand that these guides have livelihoods.

    • @rubirose196
      @rubirose196 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jonah I get that but the idea of going in their natural environment and put them at risk is problematic. The idea of tour guides may need to be registered considered and re imagined.

    • @jonah9165
      @jonah9165 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rubirose196 to be frank it’s either this or a free for all and poaching. There needs to be finances to protect them in their natural habitat and money from tourism in this form is one of the #1 reasons species are protected in Africa (just reality). Sure it would be ideal if they could just be left alone unbothered but that’s not how the world works

    • @rubirose196
      @rubirose196 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jonah I understand that this is reality. But we can also see reality ask if it is working and in time strive for something better.

    why on earth would humans need to tour their habitat unless it's for research and study. One day they will attack and be severe consequences for the Gorilla's. Unless these people signed a disclosure knowing the risk.

      ゴリラは野生であり、危険な場合があります。 レンジャーは、母親とその乳児がいることに気づかず、女性に近づくように言って間違いを犯しました。 レンジャーが間に入り、ゴリラ達は彼に慣れて立ち止まった。 誰もがゴリラの家族を訪問することを許可される前に、彼らは人間の存在に慣れるためにレンジャーによって社会化されます. トレッキング料金はレンジャーの支払いに役立つため、観光トレッキングはこれらの霊長類にとって大きな役割を果たします。 レンジャーはゴリラを監視、追跡、保護します。

    Allowing people to get so close to these gorillas is simply awful. Too close. This is their land. And no matter how much you need the money, surely you can do better than this. Maybe have lookout places up very high where tourists can view the gorillas. None of these gorillas wanted these humans so close to them. And, having the one ranger pull a machete out and threaten the gorillas. UNTHINKABLE. I'm starting to think these gorillas need protection from YOU. These gorillas were frightened. And to turn on them! I can't watch more videos from Rwanda. There are way better sanctuaries. And when I hear of or see on videos a gorilla attacking a human ... well, that's what they do when their territory has been breached. They're gorillas. Please change your policies with these gorillas. You're doing them HARM. Can't you see?
