That turbo looks like just like the typhoon eqt is selling right now.

I learned there are actually a couple different oil return fittings on the block from factory. Your car had the longer fitting and thats why your oil drain did not line up. Some cars come with a shorter fitting and it makes it way easier to install.

Good to know. I felt like it was way too far off to be normal!

min 5:44 you used a gasket, but there were no gasket in my car not in the turbo kit installation from FCP, where did you get if from? I suspect that line is what is leaking after I changed my turbo.

Hey, i'm wondering, how did you managed to get the workshop manual for the golf R ? At 3:22 looks like you have a PDF or something. Do you have an official link to it by any chance ?
    Thanks !

Thanks for the info. Why did you go this route over the garrett power max stage 2 which is a g25-660?

How you liking the turbo so far? I was able to get one off a built s3 at a junkyard in Houston for $700 with 1300cc mpi and euro manifold. Owner didn’t know it was a g25-660 and sold it based off other s3 turbos. I originally had the 2260s with 925cc mpi and rs3 brushless tuned by UM.
I’m currently on revision 2 so boost is turned down that powerband is taking getting use to with a gti.

      Do you miss the 2260s?

@@marcpec11 I miss the midrange power.

@@NerdGenius thanks for the reply, I'm currently trying to decide between a 2260S and G25-660. I think for the type of car that the Golf is I might prefer the responsiveness of the smaller turbo coupled with the more forgiving horsepower and torque on a stock motor/gearbox. But I'm still not exactly certain which way to go 😔

Another great vid. Will this turbo function properly with the oil pressure drop that happens when below 3000 rpm? Just wondering.

Hey how’s the g25-660 performing? How much power are you pushing?

Too much "custom" to get this turbo in and functional.

Was it leaking by the vband clamp?

    • @EVERYTHINGcpo

No... actually right where the oil drain pipe connected to the turbo.

With the G series the last 3 digits indicate the approximate max power capacity of the turbo on a typical modern performance DOHC engine (though it's unclear to me what fuel Garrett intends that to be on). Generally I would expect between 550-600 whp out of the 660.
