New Sub, I’m here because we were at the Emergency Vet last night with our Pit Bull... I came home on Wed and he was covered in hives, completely out of the blue. I gave him 3 Benadryl (Hutch is 85 lbs), and the hives did clear up (not completely) but as soon as the Benadryl wore off, hives were back with a vengeance. He was also vomiting, so the Benadryl would be in his bile. I also used coconut oil on him, rubbed it into his skin/fur. Hutch also loves to eat a small spoonful. It helped but the hives were back. The Vet last night sent us home with a steroid... Prednisone pills. I gave Hutch 3 Benadryl last night and 2 Prednisone, light food. He kept it down and slept through the night. This morning he looks a lot better! I still gave him 3 more Benadryl and 2 Prednisone pills, light food. Fingers crossed! *Vet also recommended a bland diet for now BOILED chicken breast, BOILED ground beed (spoon off the fat). I always feed him TASTE of the WILD Bison/Venison kibble (yellow bag). Salute to all other Pit Bull owners!
No clue what brought this on, nothing has changed. Vet said even a bug/spider bite can do it. The ONLY thing that may have done it... my theory anyway... is the other day we were walking by some tennis courts and on the sidewalk was a brand new tennis ball that someone hit over the fence. This is like finding gold to a dog, and Hutch carried it home in his mouth. The last couple of days he has been biting it and tearing the fur off it... so I wonder if he had a reaction to the rubber/glue etc. I tossed that tennis ball in the trash! Sorry Buddy...! Keep that in mind if your Pibble loves tennis balls, at least the ones not intended for pets. Google it!
Hey there.. Is your bully a blue/red nose mix perhaps? Ive been told they are a bit more prone to skin reactions or allergies... Ive had mine on Taste of wild for the past 6 moths because i was sure the chicken or something similar in some other foor was causing the reaction. Iritated skin after lets say 2 bags of that. It was also a repeating reaction so i decided to take her on a bioresonance. Not kidding. We found out that after a couple of complaints from some other customers (bc. apparently taste of wild did change their ingredient formulas not just once in the past years), my dog had an alergic reaction to salt and tomatoes. I dont understand why would someone put that in a dog food. I switched back to chicken, with NO oats - this appears to have fixed the issue. I also have a list of things we tested her for and what not to feed her so ill just stick with this for a while. :D Luckily no hives, but her ears were constantly getting infected and her skin appeared itchy on some places. like behind/under ears. Now shes back to her own self again.
@@teknastyk Interesting...tomatoes are "nightshade family" of plants that have their own pest-control, and can also cause inflammation in humans (along with bell & hot peppers and potatoes).
rudy falcone I think it was the chemicals in the tennis ball he was chewing... I give him a Zyrtec (or Walgreens equivalent) pill every day now, seems to help!
Bruh my 18 month red nose bully just got hives like yesterday. I’ve had 9 dogs n never seen anything like this on any of them. I was so scared and so happy I found this video because I totally thought it was something much worse. Woah this has calmed my emotions a lot 😅 thank you!🙏🏽
EVERYONE should try to consider that your dog may have a Canadia Yeast overload in their gut. Which leads to skin problems as well as a list of other issues that can be caused by yeast issues. My pittie had skin issues just like this. Looked like really bad hot spots, all of a sudden (after a course of antibiotics). We used apple cider vinegar 50-50 (organic with the mother in it) with water and sprayed deep into fur on her skin daily. I also used probiotics and prebiotics {micro encapsulated}. the kind I got came in powder form and i sprinkle it on an egg every morning. Between these 2 things within 2 days it has drastically healed. By the end of the 1st week it had pretty much disappeared. It also got rid of the weird little black spots on her belly and such.
My baby has Hives too, I bought him a new soap (human soap) Johnson and Johnson's baby bath "hypoallergenic" now it's gone! I never feed him any Dairyfood or in canned food. And I always bath him every after 2days since he had bath. And I always clean our room coz I realized one of the reason of his allergies are dirt, or dust.
ive been noticing a certain blanket makes mine break out.. smaller hives that invect the hair follicle.. also modified cheap wheat and corn can do it too.. but its weird mine had no patterns with food.. just this blanket
@@hazelbrowneyez3126 you should do an experiment with what he lays on and change it from one thing to another each week and see if there's a reaction but usually the hives will be a reaction from an allergy within 30 minutes to an hour and can last days but the weird part is mine kind of look like hives but they end up being little zit infections and even though I've never tried Benadryl antibiotics seem to take them right away but next time they pop up if they do again I'm going to try Benadryl and see if there's a reaction
Yeah, people need to stop giving the vets their money due to being so useless and over proced on the steroids. Thats justrediculous that the vets charge so much and don't offer much at all for the severl hundreds of dollars i have spent for no help once so ever at all.
I got a blue pit and she was all broke out too,i took her to bluepearl in tampa and they said the same thing as you did but 600.00 later. Long story short Ive gotta get her better she is all broke out and in bad shape your video is very informative and i would like to say Thank you for taking the time to make this video dude
I have a blue as well and live by the water in Clearwater. I knew this breed was allergy prone, especially in our area. First of all, native FL grasses like Bermuda can be the culprit. Also, what your neighbors spray on their lawn can be harmful even if your pet stays in your own yard. I found out the county was spraying mangroves for pest control which contains onion extract, etc. that cause allergies. If you’re comfortable addressing this with neighbors, you will notice a sharper change in your bullies appearance. Chances are other short hair dogs in the neighborhood may have similar allergies. I actually buy rolled oats, a $4 can of Quaker, and blend it into a paste. Getting the consistency right is a bit of a challenge (too lumpy and it falls off, too thin and it drips off) and I bathe my dog once a week coating her affected areas in a “mask.” Let it sit for 3-5 mins. Then I bathe her as usual. I also use Isle of Dog conditioner (oatmeal kind is my favorite, $10 on Amazon). Don’t forget that treating allergies can also be harsh and drying to your pet’s skin. In between baths, I apply diaper rash cream or a children’s Benadryl topical in a tube that has a cooling effect. Diaper rash cream leaves a bit of a white film, but the allergy cream is a clear gel that is terrific to apply. I have aloe plants in a planter and have used this occasionally, but CAUTION, ingesting aloe is toxic to dogs and causes bad gastrointestinal issues. Don’t allow licking and wipe it off with an unscented baby wipe after absorption (6-7 mins). I would caution about giving pets people meds. Many times, the inactive ingredients or pill fillers irritate more than the active ingredient helps. I always buy the children’s version of the over-the-counter medicine. It usually has 1/2 the dosage in milligrams. Moreover, the first time medicating with the children’s formula, I give my pet 1/2 the recommended dosage for their body weight. Observe carefully for 24 hours. If they tolerate it (no diarrhea or excessive drinking), administer the other 1/2 of the recommended dose (still children’s formula). This is a safer practice than finding out your pitbull has been poisoned (yes, that is what the vet will consider it). This requires an ER visit to induce vomiting & putting your fur baby on IV fluid. Lastly, your bullie is experiencing a form of contact dermatitis. Keyword being “contact.” Provide a cool-a-roo or raised pet bed outside. Even a cooling mat allows your pet to enjoy the sights and smells outdoors while providing a contact barrier. Observe your dog. Mine LOVES to drag her stomach along the grass and roll and scratch her back. I bought a lightweight pet t-shirt for when we are outside for any length of time. This simple cotton barrier had practically eliminated hives/rashes on her back, stomach, and chest. The only contact areas left are her arms and legs. These things have become routine for us and each season, she barely has flare ups anymore.
When we got our girl, a white American Bully, she had yeasty ears, whelps on her body, head shaking, a cough and sneezing. She was on meds for this. What I did was 1st: Changed her diet. I added Omega oils, & ultimate vitamins and slowly reduced the current food she was on. I started her on Iams large pup feed. Some may totally disagree with Iams, however, it worked for my girl. 😁🙌💖 The oils I gave her are, Cod Liver Oil supplements, olive oil, avocado oil and canola oil in a dripper. She is highly allergic to peanutbutter Crazy. Allergic. To. Peanutbutter. Oh and chicken flavored Kong Treats. That was bad..... Her rear turned blood red from Kong treats. A thick strip of whelps, as seen in this video but waay worse... *Fleas do make her itch. So make sure you check for fleas!* Now, cows milk doesn't seem to bother her.🤔 soooo..... The dog shampoo I use is Earthbath. Its not a 'soap'. I think for the most part its a food allergy. The vitamins do not bother her. The Duck Jerky treats do not bother her. Its certain food items that causes a problem. Other than that her coat is thick and soft. Missing a few patches but thats from scratching so much. I am in the thoughts for adding Valor or Diamond into her diet. Just to see. I hear its some reeeaally good stuff.
Update: Ive Learned a lot in 2 months. We are grain free food, anti mite shampoo, and still do occasional ear wash. We are on week 3 & Hair started growing back. She looks way way better!
I saw the hives form on my bulls face,it was soo scary like a flood of red small boils...I am afraid to leave him alone now, thinking of it scares me to my bones...the oatmeal bath helped a little but pressing the cold cloth on his body made everything better...
Top Bullies-I want to say a BIG THANK YOU ! ! And God Bless you man ! If your ever in Polk County,Fl. Steak n Beer is on me ! I owe you man. My Bully got hives and he was hanging in that same exact grass and bushy weeds. Had it not been for this video I'd probably would have spent God knows how much. Just for a veterinarian to tell me that "Your Bully has hives. In order to treat this you'll need a good shampoo for skin irritation and fungal infections & some over the counter Children's Benadryl (DYE-FREE) so you can add to his water without him visually noticing." THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN FOR REAL !
The exact same thing just happened the first time to my Staffy! Thanks for sharing your experience. Vet gave her a shot that morning (Benadryl) and she looked great all day, until evening after taking her out backyard-hives came back worse. Next day she was given a steroid shot, which helped a lot. Followed by a few more days of Benadryl pills as suggested by the vet, and she is looking like her old self. I gave her a bath as well, and that does seem to help a lot with the itching (she was scratching like crazy and basically running all over the place indoors out of frustration). Now I’m reading through these comments and researching more a bit to hopefully find more natural ways to keep this from happening, or finding a better way to treat it-would like to avoid the drugs for sure.
I go through the same thing with my dog, she has grain free & alergy to chicken we did process of elimination over tine &once summer hit after walks she loved to lay in the grass under the tree in our yard, but over time we noticed her all underneath from neck all the way to her privates all inflamed bites, our vet said she allergic to bugs in grass & in the sand, she would also get blisters not bumps on paws from walking in longer grass & I did that trying to protect her from hot pavement so ya, damned if I do damned if I don’t, but we learned along the way & Im obsessed with babying her, I think we got it now🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 It was trial & error with food & so grain free no chicken very expensive but well worth it, Wellness Ocean Core she loves it & she has such a shiny coat😁 She was adopted & lacking tlc , but we brought her back to good health & spoiled beyond spoiled with love🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 She is my everything as I believe she loves me just the same❤️
My pit bull first started having hives after eating dog food labeled salmon, it also had whitefish in it. I took my dog to the vet, he treated the skin condition with cortisone shot. My dog's hives comes and goes, each time same treatment with cortisone shot by the Vet. The Vet told me some pits are also allergic to chicken. I start feeding my pit bull lamb or beef, I find many dog food are labeled beef or lamb but the first ingredient is chicken, some also include chicken meal down the list of ingredients. I am also avoiding dog food containing fish oil to see how this go. Giving my dog Benadryl and oatmeal bath after reading this helpful site. Also cool off the boiled green tea, apply with washcloth to soothe the skin.
My Bully got the same hives, it stayed the same/ got worse with oatmeal baths. I found he had grain/potato allergies. Oatmeal is grain so will cause reactions. Soon as i cut all grain/potato contact it got better.
I got a 4month old AmBully.. i got so worried y she got allergies around the mouth area.its only when I saw ur vid that I learnedj its hives. I just came to know that bullies are sensitive.Thankful I came accross this page.Il be follwing what i just learn. Big thanks.
I would be very cautious about About any shots or medication that claims to be a easy fix in fact two that were mentioned were recommended for my 15 month old Pitbull. To say it’s been a rough ride would be an understatement!! She was rescued at Five pounds Five weeks and very sick.. The person who had her took her from her mom to soon.. She was left to die. She started breaking out after her first set of shots and has on and off every since. She stays in the house. We finally did allergy testing and she is allergic to grass, weeds, etc. The medications that have been mentioned have been known to cause cancer and death in a lot of Dogs. Do your research!! I refused to give our dog any of it. What I have done is regular weekly baths and NexGard every month. We have spent in the thousands on Our dog before we got to this point. The main thing is to keep the dog from scratching because of staph. She still has break outs but not near as much or near as bad. Hope this helps someone... Mercy
I agree, the crazy shots, apaquel pr whatever etc are dangerous. From what I've seen Zyrtec is a good alternative for seasonal allergies if necessary. Might make em a bit lethargic but i don't know of serious side effects regarding it. How about you?
@@casterakabadman805 My Staffy gets hives as well and the vet recommended Zyrtec but that didn't work. He's on steroid tablets now for the past couple of days. Doesn't seem to be doing anything so far. Ill try the Benadryl and oatmeal bath and see how that goes. I've got to get into the back yard and take care of the weeds though. Heaps have come up recently. t seem to be helping.
Yes the apoquel been link to cancer they say!!! The itch so bad on my baby I have to use some zyrtec I use sparingly but, he itch so bad! And vaccine s soon after he had those was mouth sores all around his mouth! Our Pitts seem doomed to allergic skin reactions any good info.. much appreciated
Bro thank you so much because I said exactly what happened to my miniature bully that's your bully and I have treated him exactly the way you said and a week later they were completely gone. Keep those videos coming. You are very knowledgeable.
My Pit Bull has hives, they come and go. My vet says that my pit has a sensitive skin and I should not be alarm, still i am trying to figure out what causes this hives episodes and how to prevent them.
Great video. Absolutely! Many dogs with short hair coats can have this allergic reaction from weeds and different plants that are common to most backyards. We own and breed American Pit Bull Terriers and a couple of our dogs go through this when they're in the backyard or on the grass. It's a lot of trial and error and sadly can be expensive.I'm going to try some colostrum which is supposed to help the dogs immune system with not overreacting . That's exactly what's happening and what causes the hives. The immune system is trying to fight whatever allergic reaction is caused by the plants. In this process there's an overreaction from the immune system and it ends up messing up the skin. The colostrum seems to regulate that. Your video contains great reactive medications but the colostrum is an attempt to prevent the hives all together. I'm going to try it for several months and I will be back or maybe post a video. Again thank you so much for the love you have for the dogs and the quality of your content.
@@leahtrimble2393 Hello, the colostrum did not work for us. What did work, was a couple of things. 1. Moving the dog to new space where he could not come in contact with any plants and 2. Making absolutely sure that when I walk him, the same thing no contact with any plants. Our front yard grass seems to be ok. Trail and error. Sorry, I wish I had an easier answer.
My pitbull gets hives also. She was on apoquel but after doing some research and finding out it is bad for your dog because it suppresses their immune system. I was able to get her off apoquel by using colostrum twice a day on empty stomach, bee pollen in her food and feeding the honest kitchen limited ingredient fish. One major difference is that I put little booties on her paws every time she goes out side. I also shampoo her twice a week with the Duexo shampoo (works wonders for rashes/ allergies). It took some time but well worth it.
wow im glad i found you. i feel much better. my pit is covered just like your dog. i think back to last year he broke out but not as bad and it was around spring. thank you for this video gona treat it with coconut oil i've been giving him benadryl it helps
Ok so here is my experience, again, my personal experience My male brindle picked up the allergy thing 3/4 of the way thru his 14 yrs with me (my old man found him dumped on the street at about 6 weeks old) When symptoms showed up I had him allergy tested ($400), dust, trees, and grass, same as mine which is funny to me. Got him goin on Apoquel, stuf worked within 5 hours...fast forward about 1 month and his skin was a mess, covered in pimples/cysts/ooozy gross things, felt like one of those poor strays from back in 80's in NYC. Turns out it was a staph infection, side effect of Apoquel. I was one of the first to use the drug so not much was known. So what my vet did was give me a chinese herb called wei chi (spelling my be off but it is pronounce way chee) this is an immune booster and it worked fairly quick to combat the side effects Dude was good to go til the age of 14. Now I have a frankenstein bully mix I adopted from the NY Bully Crew around 120 yrs old, started showing symptoms this past may. Went to the same vet whom said they have a new shot called "Cytopoint"that lasts anywhere from 2 weeks-8 weeks, the good thing is that it is not a chemical so no damage to kidneys or liver, it is a protein that attaches itself to whatever the hell is telling the dog to scratch....it is now August 15th and knock on wood he is good to go...he is 90lbs and the shot was $160....CYTOPOINT, look it up guys
@@topbullies8536 even better buddy. When I used the apoquel it was out of pure desperation. He wasn't miserable or anything like that, yet another reason these type breeds are incredible, truly resilient. That cytopoint shot was not yet released. Thank heavens for that wei qi (way chee) herb. Not expensive. It basically works like if you are on antibiotics you should take a probiotic. Let those two battle out the good vs bad but the meds do what they need to do. Do yourself a favor and grab the book, may even be available as a book on tape. It's called Pukkas Promise by Ted Kerasote. Changed the entire game for me. No more vaccinations (after a puppy-hood) no more dry food, all raw, bo more plastic or stuffed animals toys, deer/elk antlers. Guy did his homework. I think it would be absolutely beneficial for what you are promoting on what you have gone here. PS. I may show up in the comments section as either DC or bushanie. I'm an old head (47) so cut me some slack hack on the tech stuff hahaha
I stopped giving my dog anything that contained need or chicken. Also started her on bullymax. She takes one fish oil a day and bathes every 3 to 4 days with an oatmeal shampoo that I get from HEB all that has helped tremendously
Thank you! You described EXACTLY what my rescued dog Halo is experiencing. 3 vet visits, 2 rounds of steroids and antibiotics and her hives are coming back again! I researched that Bermuda grass is very bad for them and they can be highly allergic to it. Otherwise known as crabgrass. I will be spraying crabgrass/weed killer and hopefully that will help! Thank you for your videos!!
I've been going through this with my 6 month old mini bully for the past 36 hour's. We've tried the benedryl and that helps a bit to keep some of the swelling down. I'm getting ready to give him an oatmeal bath. Your right. Process of elimination. Like you I reside in the mountains to. Sequoia National Forest. We're forest/ high desert. Growing grass is pretty much impossible unless you pay for sod. We have realistic fake grass in our yard for the dog's. He's ran and played on it since we first got him so I know it's not that. My two other pitties are fine. This is my first bully so he's a bit different from my pitties in behavior, habits and overall demeanor. He's so strong it's crazy. I'm getting used to it. He's a good boy but still a puppy. Keeping anything and everything out of his mouth is q full time job. Phew! He's busy. Thanks for the suggestions in the video. It's most appreciated. Take care.
My pocket bully has red spots all over him . Currently I am in the process of eliminating trying to figure this out . I’ve changed food, didn’t clear up. Been to vet … gave meds … didn’t work . I have noticed his fur isn’t as thick either . He isn’t itching tho .. help!
We're having a huge problem with our Bully.. Even the Vet doesn't know. He's 12, so it's a hard decision. But with our others and grass n weed 😊. We snuck a couple drops of Apple Cider vinegar in their water bowls. You have to be careful, if they smell it, they won't trust you. Big difference. Also, we feed our Bully's alot of raw, so if we heat it we always put coconut oil on all their food. We live on 5 acres, so we know about weeds. The little tiny spores are what get them. And they'll float into your lawn. SUX! But nothing is helping our Leonidas.. right now were trying Silver, n Lots of Prayer. CBD helps with discomfort, but at this point only about 60% .Thanx for taking the time..
I hope things are going well with your boy... if you can, try to get to a holistic vet and see if they can help. I’ve found that licorice root extract helps my pit A LOT during allergy flare ups, since it acts like a natural steroid without the bad side effects of typical steroids. It brings down the redness and itchiness to almost normal. You can look up the proper dose and precautions online, some dogs with health issues shouldn't have it, and it shouldn't be given for longer than two weeks without veterinary supervision because it can deplete potassium levels. Also medicinal mushrooms to help restore the immune system can help (I use Doggie Immunity by Doggie Herbs). Prayers for your boy, I hope you find something that works! 🙏❤
My American Bully was severely allergic to INSECTS. Bees, Ants, Mosquitos etc... My rednose keeps getting hives ONLY on her head and I can't figure out WHY! Im in the process of trying to figure it out, even my Vet is stumped. I can't believe the price for Apoquel! I got 3 weeks supply for $25. YOUR DOG IS SO BEAUTIFUL! Reminds me so much of my American Bulldog.
My dog gets red belly if she even lays on grass. She's always licking her paws, and scratching at her ears. The Apoquil didn't really do anything for her. I just have to kinda clean her ears every so often. Zymox eardropps from petco usually helps her though. She is an inside dog though because her allergies suck, and there's too many mites.
I have a bully local to me that is allergic to grass, all year round, his owner can only walk him on concrete. It could be a breed specific allergy, maybe worst during spring/summer like you say. He's an older dog and I think he's always been like that so I'm not sure if they ever found a remedy for it. I really hope that's not the case for your dog though. All the best
Cool brother. I appreciate ya. I have a mini bully pit mix and she has super light hair and very thin. We have lots of ivy and stuff too. Looks exactly the same and I definitely agree. Thanks. For that. I started benadryl and oatmeal baths a day ago I will update as to help others
@@teresaayala5095 she's starting to clear up. I figured out it was cheap hotdogs I was giving her as treats. Still a lil blotchy but not as bad. Also giving her coconut oil as well. Definitely recommend it. Thanks for asking. Will post pics if I remember. Lol
Have a similar pit like yours white head and face has bumps on his head wondering if you ever experienced that. He has had hives all over before, but this time just on his head. He's a year and a half. Regular baths and use mtg original plus to condition his skin and coat.
My pitbull has bumps on his head so it let me here to this video and your experience is very similar to mine 😖😒 he shakes his head a lot so he must have a ear infection 😭 plus the hives are near the ear that really keeps bothering him 😖😫
Hey Big dawg I have 2 Female Pits that I love and both of them Have sensitive Skin Im guessing its the grass when it rains. Its horrible but does go away. Thanks for your information.
Could you show us those weeds up close?and maybe tell us there name? Thank you, very helpful video,my pittie suffers the same from the weeds,I just don't know which ones?love from the UK xxx
THANK YOU I have been freaking out about our newly adopted pit baby, shes a year and a half. Shes been fine for the first month until yesterday mad hives popped up. She doesnt itch but theyre huge and after watching your video I think its from weeds or grass here, she was rolling around in it the other day lol. Gonna try the oatmeal bath and Benadryl asap I was totally about to go the vet!
Thanks for this video, I'm having the same problem with my american bully right now and I'm completely clueless on what to do. I used to have long haired dogs, and this is the first time I'm taking care of a short haired dog. I didn't know that they really have very sensitive skin. I haven't figured out what's causing the hives yet but i started massaging her skin with coconut oil 3 days ago.
I went thru this same issue with my pitbull this past summer. At first I thought it was the new food I fed him, but that wasn't it. Thought it was the grass/pollen in the yard, that wasn't the issue. Come to find out, after thinking back, my pitbull was stung pretty bad right in his paw by a bee or wasp since my yard has a lot of them in the grass in the summer. I remember him coming in limping but showed no signs. Next morning he had hives & his face was all swollen. I'm assuming it was the sting because after a week of hives coming & going & taking Doxycycline from the vet, they eventually went away.
Thank you very much for this video. That is exactly what our dog is dealing with. Our dog is a champagne color & yes you can see the bumps on him & it definitely started once summer hit & allergy season came. Him & our other dog are inside dogs, only out for walks & restroom, or to be out with us, but he is the one that has been affected by hives.
Definitely the medicine is pretty expensive and the injection as well, the breaks out in hives so much I do believe is the grass, my husband keep cuts the grass really low and that helps, but constantly using the coconut oil for his paws though.
Dealing with this right now 😔 im fairly certain i found the cause, which is fleas, which it seems he's allergic to, my flea meds aren't working and my vet said i have to wait to get prescription meds because I already gave him the one month topical. he also has terrible separation anxiety and for this reason he goes to daycare and the daycare is where he almost certainly got the fleas in the first place, I can't not take him to daycare because of the apartment I live in and his anxiety and my management telling me that I can't leave him here when I'm not here cuz he starts freaking out and barking...blah...so stressful! I wish I could just wave a magic wand and make him feel better
My bully has hives on her head face and body. I don't know what to do! I feed nutri source and she has been fine! Suddenly the other day it came up again!! She had this happen 1 yr ago! I am at my ends wits! The benadryl isn't helping at all! She isn't itching at her body! My pug made himself bleed! I am so so feeling helpless!
Mine has a tiny bump inside her belly. AND I CANT GO TO THE VET TILL MONDAY(its Friday) IT doesn't seem to bother her,i just felt IT but i am scared. Any tips?
Hi my dog is a mongrel with staffie bulldog spaniel and xl bully he suffers with the same problem the nearest I can narrow the reaction to is grass so I will give Benadryl a try thank you
My AmStaff Terrier has been breaking out more than when I moved from NY to VA. I know it’s the grass because when I left NY it was early summer but NY weather is stays cold for a long time. I know it’s the grass/weeds in VA. I have been treating my boy Blue for hives/rashes ever since early July. They are not bad but he scratches his under arms. He is showing little hair lost. I’ve given him a bath every week and moisturize with dog lotion or coconut oil. To treat the rash I use Apple cider Vinegar. It works very good if you don’t mind the smell. It’s not that bad to me. I think Blue figured it out before me when I notice that he started to use the bathroom on the porch and not the yard.
Thank you we are having this same problem 2 trips to the vet and no answers. I’m going to try this as well the oatmeal. We have done everything as well so process of elimination..
My Pit got stung by bee, swollen eye/s,struggling breathing and drooling so took her to vet and she received two shots...hope she gets better by tomorrow morning she also feels dizzy.
What would you recommend for the best results? My bully just broke out eyes swollen shut huge bumps and very itchy. The vet did the same thing injections.
I have a pitty and we’ve been dealing with this for over a year. The vet seems like no help at all and never takes it serious. I’m pretty sure it’s out door allergies for her too but she loves being outside so much that I don’t know what to do to prevent them.
My pit/bully Cross has broke out in hives all over his neck that are getting heads on them like spots and they aren't going away.. we just had a break away at the beach and they started appearing there but haven't gone away yet after a week... we've tried changing a few things but nothing seems to work
Dealing with this right now with our rescued Bully × Something, 3 days ago her face was so swollen her eyes were almost closed, we assumed 🐝 bite, Nope she's still breaking out, I give her 1 20mg Bilistine Tablet a day, keeping everything at bay, she has appointment Monday, it's Saturday. I'm sure it's those Noxious weeds that I now have overtaking my yard since I got some "Dirty" Peat Will know for sure on Monday when she has her Allergy test Thanks for the info
Been having this problem for half a year vets telling me it was good constantly changing his diet from there advice then I've finally realised it's severe hayfever allergies to pollen thanks for vid though it's confirmed it
I been using mild AC vinegar whip downs after outside time inbetweem washes with ac vinegar washes and coconut rubs too! Zyrtec so e just a juggling act trying to help him be some what comfortable he begs for me to itch him so pitiful my baby boy 💙
Thank you so very much for sharing your Discovery and your knowledge that's why I was on this page looking for answers my bully puppy went through the same exact thing so thanks will be giving this a try. 🐕
Wow thank you. My XL has these since i got him back from being borded for 2 weeks..They gave him different food and hoping that was it. Its strange my pocket Bully luckily isnt having allergies but my poor XL. He actually growled at me while i was using iodine wipes to clean him and hes so sweet hes never growled like that..Om gonna try APPLE Cider bath tomorrow and an oatmeal bath if that doesn't help. Thanks
We have 3 but my blue male is always having itching , loads of hair to sweep everyday under his crate by morning , red chin and red eyes now but I took him to vet and they said switch food to no grain no chicken so we use diamond lamb and rice natural and he loves it !! Fills them up too quicker to me , but anyway every time around spring , and summer till winter we go threw this the whole time not hives thankfully but I will say he itches himself like crazy and gets red in certain areas !! Coconut oil I’m going to use now for his coat and every week or so I feed him raw meat with eggs like hamburger meat with eggs , oh he loves it too , doesn’t make him sick or nothing but fleas and dust seem to be a real issue for him !! This past summer we tried everything in the yard to get rid of fleas and they would come back but it’s dogs all around us too so could be coming from them we don’t know but I just had to spray them again with a spray ultra shield ex by absorbing and it kills on contact thank god … but he has brought another dog in that seems to have bumps on his back leg that are bleeding it is actually the father of the girl and she’s blue but she doesn’t have issues like my male , she got lucky lol so now I’m trying to see what to do for him poor thing and noticed she has them too a little since being around him , both are short pockets while my blue male is a xl bully
Mine gets these allergies only when she hangs outside. The only thing that helps (besides drugging her) is wearing a onesie & keeping her skin covered. There are a lot of onesies meant for surgery recovery and they work great to protect the skin from the elements
Hi, I had a Pitt that died of mass cell tumor cancer in 2018 that was having the same reactions. Can you tell me how your dog is doing now if your dog is still alive and how your dog reacted to the apoquil? I had a friend who had a cane Corso. He had died from the from mass cell tumor cancer. Some say apoquil has been related to pitts getting mct cancer., eventually Your dog body will stop responding to Benadryl Which will lead to an overload of histamine overwhelming their body. Mess cell tumor cancer leads to huge lumps all over the body, which will get bigger and burst open. Unfortunately, I had to put my baby to sleep. If you could please just provide an update and let me know how your dog did with this regimen.
omg i am in the midst of this with my baby who is 6 months old. i also do all the home remedies. it goes and comes back. very fustrating. i am going to try this.
I have a white pity idk what she is allergic too. Only thing ive changed was frompuppy food to adult food. only food i noticed she dont have like tummy issues with is biljac. And she enjoys the food . but since i changed it to adult food she broke into hives. and idk what to do. ima try the remedies you suggested .
Hope he gets better! Sounds like my dog when he went through it.
Luckily no hives, but her ears were constantly getting infected and her skin appeared itchy on some places. like behind/under ears.
I give him a Zyrtec (or Walgreens equivalent) pill every day now, seems to help!
thank you for loving your furkid so much, thank God, for good people for the innocents!
I’m in Texas and my 7 month old American Bully has hives also, I came on here to get answers about the hives. Thank You everyone
ive been noticing a certain blanket makes mine break out.. smaller hives that invect the hair follicle.. also modified cheap wheat and corn can do it too.. but its weird mine had no patterns with food.. just this blanket
I’ve changed his treats, dog food and shampoo.
Truthful Lives Matter ok, thanks.
11 month old Am staff in Plano this is happening to and it’s scaring me to death. Did you find a solution?
You helped me way more than any vet channel thank you
Yeah, people need to stop giving the vets their money due to being so useless and over proced on the steroids. Thats justrediculous that the vets charge so much and don't offer much at all for the severl hundreds of dollars i have spent for no help once so ever at all.
I started making our boy his food. No chicken. Fresh organic veggies and turkey. Helped tremendously.
Why no chicken?
I got a blue pit and she was all broke out too,i took her to bluepearl in tampa and they said the same thing as you did but 600.00 later. Long story short Ive gotta get her better she is all broke out and in bad shape your video is very informative and i would like to say Thank you for taking the time to make this video dude
So did this video help with your dog issue? I'm going through this at the moment
She is highly allergic to peanutbutter
Crazy. Allergic. To. Peanutbutter.
Oh and chicken flavored Kong Treats. That was bad..... Her rear turned blood red from Kong treats. A thick strip of whelps, as seen in this video but waay worse...
*Fleas do make her itch. So make sure you check for fleas!*
Now, cows milk doesn't seem to bother her.🤔 soooo.....
We are on week 3 &
Hair started growing back. She looks way way better!
I saw the hives form on my bulls face,it was soo scary like a flood of red small boils...I am afraid to leave him alone now, thinking of it scares me to my bones...the oatmeal bath helped a little but pressing the cold cloth on his body made everything better...
That sucks man! Anything can set it off
I have an APBT and we are going through the skin allergy problem now. I’m trying all these things you mentioned. Thank you for the info❤️
@Holly Vincent-check out what I just posted above
Your welcome!🙏
The exact same thing just happened the first time to my Staffy! Thanks for sharing your experience. Vet gave her a shot that morning (Benadryl) and she looked great all day, until evening after taking her out backyard-hives came back worse. Next day she was given a steroid shot, which helped a lot. Followed by a few more days of Benadryl pills as suggested by the vet, and she is looking like her old self. I gave her a bath as well, and that does seem to help a lot with the itching (she was scratching like crazy and basically running all over the place indoors out of frustration).
Now I’m reading through these comments and researching more a bit to hopefully find more natural ways to keep this from happening, or finding a better way to treat it-would like to avoid the drugs for sure.
knew first minute of this video My dog has this, thank you I'll let uno what happens Brother.
I go through the same thing with my dog, she has grain free & alergy to chicken we did process of elimination over tine &once summer hit after walks she loved to lay in the grass under the tree in our yard, but over time we noticed her all underneath from neck all the way to her privates all inflamed bites, our vet said she allergic to bugs in grass & in the sand, she would also get blisters not bumps on paws from walking in longer grass & I did that trying to protect her from hot pavement so ya, damned if I do damned if I don’t, but we learned along the way & Im obsessed with babying her, I think we got it now🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 It was trial & error with food & so grain free no chicken very expensive but well worth it, Wellness Ocean Core she loves it & she has such a shiny coat😁 She was adopted & lacking tlc , but we brought her back to good health & spoiled beyond spoiled with love🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 She is my everything as I believe she loves me just the same❤️
Awesome!
ThNks ima try this my staffy is dealing with all this
Thank you so much for this video!!! My Pittie has hives all over her body. My girl is my BABY!!! God Bless YOU!!!
Respect from another Colorado bully breeder thanks bro
I’ve done everything with my pittbull staffy but what you said makes lot of Sence thankyou
Don't forget to use Apple cider vinegar also.
Big thanks.
AWESOME!!!!! MORE POWER BROTHER!!! KEEP IT UP. GODBLESS YOU!!!
I've got a blue Am and only using coconut oil and changing his water 3 times a day actually got rid of them so thank you for the oil tip.
Did you use the Benadryl at all? How are you using the coconut oil?
Thanks for this video, my boxer got hives today out of no where.
thanks for this video man i have american bully it has alleric too thanks i got a lot of knowledge because of ur vids
Ty my brother good info
Thanks bro you open up my eyes
Thank you for making this video....I’m going to try the oatmeal bath and also give my pit some Benadryl....I have a 1 year old pit bull
Hope it works!
My Pit Bull has hives, they come and go. My vet says that my pit has a sensitive skin and I should not be alarm, still i am trying to figure out what causes this hives episodes and how to prevent them.
Give him honey in his food.
Give your dog honey. It hype allergenic.
What do you do nuts keep giving them Benadryl when it happens
Update?
My pitty is going through this rn. Thanks for the info.
Tried everything but this I’ll let you know how I get on, thank you my g
Thank you, thank you, thank you, for making this video! It helped me cure my bully’s hives!
Thank you so much for this!! My 10month old pitbull just broke out in hives this was helpful
wow im glad i found you. i feel much better. my pit is covered just like your dog. i think back to last year he broke out but not as bad and it was around spring. thank you for this video gona treat it with coconut oil i've been giving him benadryl it helps
They offered my dog this shot, as a last resort, he healed up before we tried it.
They offered my dog this shot, as a last resort, he healed up before we tried it.
@@topbullies8536 did you cut the grass?
Zyrtec’s in the morning it’ll last all day. The vet told me the same thing
Yeah man I took my pitbull to the vet as well. Cost me $400 and got some
Antibiotics it was ridiculous
Take care.
Thanks for sharing. We just brought home a Frenchie puppy and noticed today he was broke out in these bumps after taking him outside for a bit
Thank you! I hope yours gets better
Omgoodness, poor lil boy...allergic to grass/weeds, oh my! Thanks for sharing
How did it went?
@@teresaayala5095 she's starting to clear up. I figured out it was cheap hotdogs I was giving her as treats. Still a lil blotchy but not as bad. Also giving her coconut oil as well. Definitely recommend it. Thanks for asking. Will post pics if I remember. Lol
Pits are so cute it’s hard to handle the cuteness without wanting to squeeze them to death. Haha
Video Helped out a lot thanks bro
Same problem with my bully, thanks for sharing this.
This video is very helpful
I got the same problem bro!! Thanks for your video!!!👍🏻
Same
What do you do then keep giving them Benadryl
It should!
Pitta are born with allergies and immune issues 😩😩😩
Great vid mate. I have a staffy and he gets hives as well sometimes. Ill try some of your tips.
We have the same issue he has bumbs and some hair loss spots but hes not itching.. what did you do pls help? Thank you in advance❤

Pit bulls Over Humans can you let me know if my dog is a bully
Join my FB group and show me!
We have the same issue, hows your bully now? What did you do pls help. Thanks in advance
Thanks bro! 👊🏽💯
Maria check out my post above - hope your baby heals quickly!
Definitely the medicine is pretty expensive and the injection as well, the breaks out in hives so much I do believe is the grass, my husband keep cuts the grass really low and that helps, but constantly using the coconut oil for his paws though.
Thank you this video is very helpful...
Thank u
Thanks. I have a bully pitbull I've been using oatmeal shampoo and coconut oil but I didn't know what else to you thanks to this I know
My Pit got stung by bee, swollen eye/s,struggling breathing and drooling so took her to vet and she received two shots...hope she gets better by tomorrow morning she also feels dizzy.
Wow thisis very informative.
Should i give my 8mos bully Tablet benadryl or syrup??
Thank you so much for this video
What would you recommend for the best results? My bully just broke out eyes swollen shut huge bumps and very itchy. The vet did the same thing injections.
Drea Lee ASMR Benadryl, oatmeal bath, coconut oil on their coat..
Give him honey. In his food. It's hypo allergenic👍
I'm sure it's those Noxious weeds that I now have overtaking my yard since I got some "Dirty" Peat
Will know for sure on Monday when she has her Allergy test
Thanks for the info
Thanks for the video
My pug is bad not as bad as your pit bull but 😅it's horrible 😢.
Also thank you for sharing 😅
I’m at the vet right now for this but my 4 month old pup Lando’s face was all swollen eyes and muzzle, I could not give him the pills.
Thanks
Yo bro
Did the hives turn scabby and flaky after when they were healing
No
We have 3 but my blue male is always having itching , loads of hair to sweep everyday under his crate by morning , red chin and red eyes now but I took him to vet and they said switch food to no grain no chicken so we use diamond lamb and rice natural and he loves it !!
Some say apoquil has been related to pitts getting mct cancer., eventually
Your dog body will stop responding to Benadryl
Which will lead to an overload of histamine overwhelming their body. Mess cell tumor cancer leads to huge lumps all over the body, which will get bigger and burst open. Unfortunately, I had to put my baby to sleep.
If you could please just provide an update and let me know how your dog did with this regimen.
Beautifully dog..
omg i am in the midst of this with my baby who is 6 months old. i also do all the home remedies. it goes and comes back. very fustrating. i am going to try this.
Same here
