I considered getting this lens, but I ended up getting a second camera in stead. That way I can have an 85mm F1.2 on one camera, and a 50mm F1.2 on the other!😆

I actually had both the 85 and 28-70 but sold the 28-70, as I ended up shooting at 70mm f2 most of the time, so I prefer having the 85mm for the best possible look and then have small primes like the RF 50 and 35 for whenever I just can't get what I want into frame. That said for people who only want to carry one lens but need versatility, it's a beast for a zoom lens.

This lens is def for the event or wedding photographer. I can go from getting ready in a small room to a quick step outside for portraits or first look to large group shot to details all within minutes on a wedding day. It’s also faster to capture wide and tight shots of a one time moment than using two cameras. For that type of work this thing can’t be beat. If you usually have time and full control of your photos then this lens is probably not for you.

Another beautiful and great shoot with great information and comparison of which is beautifully shows how both lenses have their strength and weakness, Yet together I'd say they would be a great set of lens to have in the camera bag to captures beautiful gorgeous shots as you have in this beautiful shoot. Love how you captured the beautiful lighting that gave a beautiful bokeh and glow working beautifully with the natural complexion and beauty of the lovely Alina. Super gorgeous shoot and thanks for another beautiful shoot and lots of great information Irene. I just got the RF 28-70 a few weeks ago and not just blowing out the background all the time I think is making me a better photographer. I looked at this lens when it was first introduced by Canon and was wondering if it could replace my 35, 50 and 85mm lenses. I looked at some of the content on TH-cam of others that were testing this lens and I made up my mind that I would purchase this lens and the 85mm lens. I, like you have a soft spot in my heart for the 85mm. I also like the fact that I can use my 28-70mm f/2 to capture my subjects in the same location and at different focal lengths with one lens. Canon really provided us with a very special tool in this lens. I am glad that I purchased this lens and there is really not much more to say other than I LOVE THIS LENS. Thanks for sharing your experience with this lens.

Sold my 50 1.2 RF for this 28-70 back in December 2020. Never looked back. 28-70 is all I need for all my work.

Hi Irene, that my 2 « go to lens », i’m using the 85mm 1.2 for portraits and the 28-70 for weddings/corporate or events in photos and vidéo and for TH-cam too 😉

the vibe for this shoot felt very Outlander esque, like if the time frame someone went back to was in the late 90s or something

Irene mir gefällt das 24-70mm am besten vom Bokee. Das 85mm zermatscht alles im Hintergrund.📷🤗

beautiful pictures and great explanation. Beautiful model, super photographer ... with both lenses
A little bit of topic: but maybe a hint: I kept the Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L because: Minimum focus distance 0.21m. vs. RF 28-70 2.0 Minimum focus distance: 0.39m (1.28 ft) / 4mm difference in w. / Bulky / expensive / heavy... for some of my work, those are plenty reasons keep the 24-70 and a 85mm 1.2.
