    What a great video. Kyoto is such a beautiful and old city. It was pure pleasure to walk its streets, no matter where you went there were shrines, temples and just beautiful houses. These men are true citizens.

    Respect to you for doing everything solo, you’re an absolute unit for being able to do this all alone and spreading knowledge

    This looks fun. A patrolling band of old dudes probably also helps decrease nighttime crime

    In Taiwanese/Chinese culture I remember we also have the similar thing in the past.They would walk around and say"天乾物燥,小心火燭"Which roughly translate to "Things are dry,beware of fire"

    Neat. I’m sure the typical visitor would never encounter these patrols! Thanks for showing us.

      Thank you, Dennis! It is my hope that some visitor gets lodgings in old Kyoto, hears them go by in the evening, calling and clapping their sticks, and says, "I know who that is! I saw a video about it..."

    Forgive me for asking but do you film the footage in the videos? Thanks for the interesting information.

    • @OurHumanPlanet
      @OurHumanPlanet  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I do. I work alone, so I do sound, camera, prep, and post. You don't see me on camera because I want the focus to remain on the people I am filming (in other words, I'm not important to the story).

    looks like its filmed with an old camera?

    • @OurHumanPlanet
      @OurHumanPlanet  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An inexpensive camera, unfortunately. If you look at my China and Egypt stories, the tech specs are far better because I bought professional equipment. I self-fund both the trips and all the equipment so I can't always afford the best gear.
