  • Aphelele Fassi (born 23 January 1998 in King William's Town, South Africa) is a South African rugby union player. He has been playing with the Sharks in Super Rugby since 2019.
    Aphelele Fassi joined the Border Bulldogs academy in 2014 in 2014, competing in Craven Week in 2014 and 20163. He then completed his training with the Natal Sharks from 20174.
    His professional career began in 2018 with the Natal Sharks when he was called up to play in the Currie Cup5.6 In his first season, he was noted for his qualities of speed and technique7. He won this championship in his first season7,8.
    In June 2021, he was selected for the first time with the Springboks by coach Jacques Nienaber to prepare for the British Lions' tour of South Africa12. He made his debut on 2 July 2021 against Georgia in Pretoria13,14. On this occasion, he scored his first attempt at the international level15.
    In 2019, he was retained in the squad of the Sharks franchise, playing in Super Rugby7. He played his first match on 16 February 2019 against Sunwolves1,9. He quickly established himself as the incumbent at the back position, and as a great national hope at this position10,11.
