- On this episode, Adventures with Kendall is taking us on a small history tour of Amboy CA. This Route 66 town is a great example of a community built around the Main Street of America. It's a great peak into how this town, and the famous Roy's Cafe and Motel came to become icons along the Mother Road. From being an alphabet town founded by Lewis Kingman of the Atlantic and Pacific railroad, to Route 66 Boomtown that had all water supplied by the Santa Fe Railroad. It became a popular rest stop in the Mojave Desert with the iconic Mid Century - Googie Architecture of Roy's Motel and Cafe. It nearly died after a series of owners let it run down, but things are changing. The ghost town that ain't dead yet!

You should look up Castle Peak and Thunder Railroad in Anaheim sometime. I think you'd really enjoy it. You need to get on their email list to be notified of when they release free tickets to their open houses. And tickets are grabbed up really quickly. 🙂
Thank you for the great suggestion. I signed up for email notifications. 😊
