When I was about 7yrs old...for Christmas...my father gave me my first real small transistor RADIO! He Loved Jean Shepherd and we often listened to the program TOGETHER on his BIG RADIO😁. Now I got to enjoy all of his wonderful stories...alone...at night in the Theater of the Mind! Jeans stories and these programs of his are some of my fondest memories of childhood. NOW...I get to rediscover Jean all over again...listening to him on a SMART PHONE?...at night...with Warm Memories of my father...my childhood...MY GOD...he was GREAT📻! Thankyou Sir...because of you...I sleep alittle easier Everynight! BLESS YOU SIR💙!
I loved watching Shepherd visit his old stomping grounds. He is a master storyteller. I wish I could find who was there taking the pictures. I have asked the Times about it but I got nowhere with them.
I wish we could help! We checked our newspaper indexes, but couldn't find any photo credit. The only article mentioning the program seems to be in a July 9th, 1984 issue of The Times, but there's no picture included.
So do we! No one is still with the library who attended this event; we can only assume they ran out of tape. We unearthed this one from storage and there were no others with it, so alas, this is all we have!
What is the ironic introduction. Would love to know what jean was thinking as he heard this. She equates to being on the radio with the possibility of being famous. I’m sure one word came to Jeans head: talent, or acute lack thereof.
