For all of you that love the Fusion other than the "trimmer" blade on the backside (I personally hate it and have cut my nose with it too many times when shaving above my lip) Gillette has a line out for the ladies called"Joy" and they are the same 5 blade cartridges minus the "trimmer" blade and MUCH less expensive than the regular "Fusion" cartridges (YES the "Joy" cartridges DO fit the Fusion handles)
For me, the Fusion is clearly superior. Of course I have to touch up a bit after shaving with either of them, but the Fusion leaves very little behind. In contrast, the Mach 3 always misses a patch or two, so I have to spend more time shaving if I choose to use it. The Fusion has that convenient single blade on the top of the cartridge, but I don't need it, because the Fusion is so good at reaching those hard-to-access places, like the area that's immediately under my nose.

Now, in Brazil, since they do not have it... I had to make sure that Gil Mach 3 is efficient enough for a coarse shave.
have been using mach 3 since 2006, switched to fusion proglide last month, I thought will take some time and practice to get the control, five blades tug too much, it doesn't glide as smoothly as mach 3, going back to mach 3 now.
Agree 100%!! I’m a woman and have used Mach 3 for as long as I can remember on legs under arms and pubic area it’s my holy grail very smooth close shave, easy to manoeuvre small gets into crevices. The 5 blade is shit I think I still have blades I need to use up though lol

Gives a closer, smoother shave every time and is on a par with safety razors without the learning curve or the cuts. Yes, there is a big difference in price but at about ten shaves a cartridge the price differential isn't so great. Add speed and convenience to the mix and for me the Fusion is a winner. And I am not alone, rather part of the vast majority of men who find the same. PS: Great channel. Always enjoy your down-to-earth reviews.
Not only that but the Power version is a game changer. I started using it and when the battery ran out I thought i would just keep shaving without it but NO... Its much more confortable because I have to use less force to shave, the microsideway movement helps the blades to cut my beard (which is very though)
I mean they had to compete with Schick immediately after they came out with the Quattro. I know when I was younger I used a bic three blade and had to upgrade to between 4-6 blade(way before I even tried Gillette or knew anything about it.) because there wasn’t enough however after having tried Gillette now with the 5 blade I can only assume that maybe in a Gillette razor the extra blades are redundant but with cheaper cartridges from other brands it seems like the extra blades are necessary because the overall quality of the cartridge is a lot cheaper. So I have no doubt the mach 3 is sufficient considering their quality as a brand.
theMediaMart I find 5 blades gives the closest shave possible, it’s all to with the way you prepare the skin first, warm water and a scrub/wash for at least 2 mins to soften the hair

I used fusion razors for quite sometime but I wasn't satisfied not getting good shave as you said lot of tugging and pulling it wasn't pleasent experience at all then again I get back to mach 3 turbo it was very good after that I got fusion 5 proglide flexball with power but tried it with chill and shield blades it was good but still some irritation was there finally got skinguard and king c Gillette neck and edge will never get back to fusion but I'll try mach 3 turbo again.
I think that the approach of both razors are different . The Mack 3 is more face related shave instead the fusion 5 is meant to shave sensitive areas probably that’s why is that way more that protection .
I just bought one of these Fusion 5 razors today.... I've been a Harry's, Mach 3 and Schick Hydro guy for a while now.... I'll give this Fusion 5 a shot in the morning. Too me, the Gillette Sensor was just as good. But.... it's hard to beat the Mach 3..... it's definitely top 5 in history in my book.

For me who is currently using the new version of the Mach 3, I find that shaving with slow, long strokes with the grain, against the grain, and even left and right with plenty of warm water and not too much Barbasol shaving cream has given me a great and close shave. Although I might try my brother's Fusion 5 to see how it compares, if he'll let me that is. Lol

True. Gillette Mach 3 and Fusion 5. Very long lasting razors. You really have to rinse these razors good after use otherwise shaving cream will be come solid and block the blades
I use proglide. But the growth after that is extremely sharp and people are getting Pissed. I had fusion 4 before bits it’s not available anymore. The Mach 3 turbo is made in China and seems also to have a plastic handle it seems. I need to change but not sure what to do next. Five blades probably ain’t as good as they are made out to me. I was very happy with the Mach three years ago. Should’ve have just stuck with that.
I bought the Fusion 5 for my father for Christmas but he says it gets clogged as the blades are too close. He has gone back to Mach 3. Personally I use Wilkinson Sword.

I used it all the time in the mid 2000’s but then got the Hydro 5 one year after trying electric, always the neck which fail them, and I really like the Hydro 5 but I can be lazy so a week’s beard will kill a blade. I watched your 8 day shave with the same blade and I was impressed but I just do not have that discipline, especially in lockdown Thank you
The microfins are not a guide they are commonly called skin buffers that stretch the skin, you yourself guide the razor with your wrist. As for the comparison between the two razors both give same results, only thing that isn’t the same is the price tag
Hello from Russia! I've been using Mach3 for 5 years, recently I've bought Fusion proglide power flexball. In my mind 5 blades gives you more smoothness, but Mach3 is very good razor too! I thought Fusion is much better, but really its not much better. What about vibration (power) I don't understand what for it is😀
Good question. I prefer the Mach3 for an overall shaving experience. Proglide has more horsepower for sure, which comes at a price for some shavers. Added irritation and more change of ingrown hairs.
I am 100% a gillette fan I think I might be leaning a little more on the gillette mach3 and I think gillette should make gillette mach3 the razors before mach3 more main stream
I like Cremo (cream) much better than any gel I've used before. It says it's a 90-day supply on a tube but it works so incredibly that it's lasted me over a year.

For me the best feature of Gillette Fusion is that trimmer on the back side. If I try to shave under my nose it hurts like I'm using wax lol so for me that trimmer is great thing. But I just ordered Razorock Hawk v3 open comb and kai pink so I hope I'll soon enjoy some high level shaving. If I don't bleed to death lol

@@averageguytested I just received my razorock and used it so here are my thoughts. Razor looks awesome (mine has HD handle), it's quite heavy but I would prefer a bit longer handle. And it would be awesome if razor had some kind of small metal protrusion on the back side of the head (that way it would be safer to screw and unscrew plate to change the blade). Other then that I'm very satisfied. I have never used safety razor before, since my first shave I used only cartridges (mach 3 and then fusion) so it was a bit intimidating but I ended up with only 2 small nicks on my neck. I would say that my skin is about twice as smooth and half as irritated then when I use fusion.
I think I'm shifting back to cartridge razor again as I'm shifting my work where I can spend 30 minutes on a shave I can get clean shave in 5 minutes with fusion Mr Tony.
I've been using the Gillette Fusion5 razor for the last 2 years and though it's a very close shave, I find it difficult to shave around my mouth area. The cartridge is too bulky. After watching this video, I'm going to try the Mach 3 blades. Thank you.
@@challenger516 I actually liked the Fusion5 Proglide better then the regular Mach 3. It gives a smoother shave with less irritation. I also tried the Mach 3 Turbo and it was almost as smooth, but nicked me more. I'm going to try the Fusion5 Proshield next.
Forget them both and go back to the old de razor your daddies and grandadies used, I used the mach3 for years and it gives a good shave it still gave me severe razor burn but nothing with the de safety razor plus an excellent shave.
Gillette should have stopped with the Mach 3. Fusion is the reason there's a huge comeback of safety razor shaving. For me & most men anymore than 3 blades is ingrown hair and razor burn city
Ehmm. Mach 3 is kinda uncomfortable to me because the dampers on it aren't as comfortable compared to fusion 5 which has softer dampers. For the price it shaves nice tho

I use proglide. But the growth after that is extremely sharp and people are getting Pissed. I had fusion 4 before bits it’s not available anymore. The Mach 3 turbo is made in China and seems also to have a plastic handle it seems. I need to change but not sure what to do next. Five blades probably ain’t as good as they are made out to me. I was very happy with the Mach three years ago. Should’ve have just stuck with that.

I do agree Mach 3 shaves nicely and my Gillet styler using fusion 5 blade hugs the skin and not cutting hair like the m3.

I bought the Fusion 5 for my father for Christmas but he says it gets clogged as the blades are too close. He has gone back to Mach 3. Personally I use Wilkinson Sword.

theMediaMart I was looking for a new razor for a hospital visit but after your vid I have gone for Mach 3 refills for my old Mach 3. Maybe it is time to rediscover the Mach 3 again. I used it all the time in the mid 2000’s but then got the Hydro 5 one year after trying electric, always the neck which fail them, and I really like the Hydro 5 but I can be lazy so a week’s beard will kill a blade. I watched your 8 day shave with the same blade and I was impressed but I just do not have that discipline, especially in lockdown Thank you
The microfins are not a guide they are commonly called skin buffers that stretch the skin, you yourself guide the razor with your wrist. As for the comparison between the two razors both give same results, only thing that isn’t the same is the price tag

Hello from Russia! I've been using Mach3 for 5 years, recently I've bought Fusion proglide power flexball. In my mind 5 blades gives you more smoothness, but Mach3 is very good razor too! I thought Fusion is much better, but really its not much better. What about vibration (power) I don't understand what for it is😀
The power or vibration is supposed to lift the hairs - not sure it works, but it’s a good marketing story.

Shave as much as you need to if you use good technique. I know some guys that shave twice a day if they are going to a night function. 🖐🏽

Good question. I prefer the Mach3 for an overall shaving experience. Proglide has more horsepower for sure, which comes at a price for some shavers. Added irritation and more change of ingrown hairs.
I am 100% a gillette fan I think I might be leaning a little more on the gillette mach3 and I think gillette should make gillette mach3 the razors before mach3 more main stream

I like Cremo (cream) much better than any gel I've used before. It says it's a 90-day supply on a tube but it works so incredibly that it's lasted me over a year.

I have tried Schick several times, it’s a good shave but the blades just don’t compare to Gillette’s. I do have a thick beard though.
For me the best feature of Gillette Fusion is that trimmer on the back side. If I try to shave under my nose it hurts like I'm using wax lol so for me that trimmer is great thing. But I just ordered Razorock Hawk v3 open comb and kai pink so I hope I'll soon enjoy some high level shaving. If I don't bleed to death lol

@@averageguytested I just received my razorock and used it so here are my thoughts. Razor looks awesome (mine has HD handle), it's quite heavy but I would prefer a bit longer handle. And it would be awesome if razor had some kind of small metal protrusion on the back side of the head (that way it would be safer to screw and unscrew plate to change the blade). Other then that I'm very satisfied. I have never used safety razor before, since my first shave I used only cartridges (mach 3 and then fusion) so it was a bit intimidating but I ended up with only 2 small nicks on my neck. I would say that my skin is about twice as smooth and half as irritated then when I use fusion.
I think I'm shifting back to cartridge razor again as I'm shifting my work where I can spend 30 minutes on a shave I can get clean shave in 5 minutes with fusion Mr Tony.

You would probably be better off with a body groomer, but you could try it. Just be careful and take it slow.
I've tried both of them and I think fusion 5 proglide is much better, but the only issue with it is the high price.

Gilette Fusion 5 that is powered is nicer to use than the Mach 3 which used to be my go to.

@@challenger516 I actually liked the Fusion5 Proglide better then the regular Mach 3. It gives a smoother shave with less irritation. I also tried the Mach 3 Turbo and it was almost as smooth, but nicked me more. I'm going to try the Fusion5 Proshield next.

Forget them both and go back to the old de razor your daddies and grandadies used, I used the mach3 for years and it gives a good shave it still gave me severe razor burn but nothing with the de safety razor plus an excellent shave.

Gillette should have stopped with the Mach 3. Fusion is the reason there's a huge comeback of safety razor shaving. For me & most men anymore than 3 blades is ingrown hair and razor burn city

Ehmm. Mach 3 is kinda uncomfortable to me because the dampers on it aren't as comfortable compared to fusion 5 which has softer dampers. For the price it shaves nice tho
