Because when you kill Miquella, St Trina will die alone with him at the same time. So coming back and finding she is dead makes it even more sad and tragic.

In the fire giant related items it is mentioned than they found the fell god one day then they took its power in and that gave them their red hair. We also know that giants had small kin and even deformed kin of a stature comparable to the folks of the land between. So Radagons red hair is a characteristic that can only come from being a descendant of the fire giants. we know Marika is a numen and did not hold that type of magic but something different, a gold type of magic. And Marika claiming "thou are yet to become me" is very telling but ignore by many. Many theorist have it wrong and also fail to consider than st Trina only came to be because miquella was successful in gaining godhood using his haligtree.
I feel there is more missing content. The DLC trailer shows Miquella in a bright golden form twice his current size pointing towards the Scadurree, we haven't seen that bit in the actual DLC yet. Everything else from the DLC trailer is available to us AFAIK, the only thing missing is the golden from of Miquella.
@@rakudai5972 torrent was originally miquellas, we get dialogue when we get the horse as well as the bell bearing that we use to summon, both of those items refer to miquella as the previous owner and iirc miquella is the one who crafted spirit summoning related things.
The implications here are pretty crazy to consider. You get torrent from Melina, and you get the summoning bell from Ranni. It seems like Miquella wanted us to kill Radahn so his souls could be brought back. If Torrent was his, and he created the spirit bell, then were Melina and Ranni working for him/under his spell the whole time, leading us down the path he wanted us to follow?
@@CarbonFiberSwan I was thinking this too. Mohg might not have been the only one under miquellas control. Maybe a lot more demi gods were under too. Though I do think when ranni became a doll she removed herself from the grip.
Hearing that _“Thank you… Finally, he will be free.”_ really reinforces something clear about Miquella's nature that we initially learned from the Golden Epitaph's description, _"A sword made to commemorate the death of Godwyn the Golden, first of the demigods to die. Infused with the humble prayer of a young boy; “O brother, lord brother, please die a true death.” "_ In divesting himself of everything he had, it's clear that he wanted to give it ALL up and also die a normal death - something impossible for his eternally youthful form just as much as it was for Malenia. Turning into a god in essentially the exact way Mohg wanted to do with his coccooned body shows how either one of which would have been a prison he could never escape where he was once again the literal embodiment of everything he had just cast aside. With Florissax offering her dreams and sleep to Placidusax and St. Trina's sleep itself being death, I think there are some interesting themes and overlaps in those roles, so it'll be interesting to poke around and see what ideas like this they cut back on slightly. Fantastic work getting this uncovered and put together so quickly.
Even lady leda says St Trina has boundless love for miquella and she wouldnt turn against him even after being cast away. St trina knows godhood would be a prison and curse for miquella so she begs you to grant him forgiveness my killing him. It’s a tragic situation.
I don't think Miquella was prevented from dying, so if he only wanted to kill himself, nothing would really be stopping him. In the case of Golden Epitaph's description, Miquella was trying whatever he could to stop the Death Blight plague. Killing Godwyn's body was the first effort and apparently failed, so the next effort was to revive Godwyn's soul with the Castle Sol ritual.
She made it seem like killing miquella would be a somewhat easy task (or at least only reasonably difficult)... Failing to mention he had pay to win hacks ready for you at the end by way of a stardust meteor covered in holy light capable of one shotting you.
I finally beat the boss, and how are you meant to dodge that meteor? I never managed it. Only reason I ever survived was because one of my messages got appraised between the first and second hit of the meteor, just barely allowing me to survive the attack.
@@casual2694 You only have to dodge the center one and the big explosion after the 5th one. He tries to go in a X pattern (starting with the center, then each end point) but if you're close to a wall it'll get weird and the explosions overlap much more than normal. The play is when you see his HP near the word "consort" try to position in the center. When the HP is under the letters "ONS" start buffing after whatever attack he's doing and go center stage. Locate Star>Run at the star and Dodge/Roll/Vow of the Indomitable as soon as you hear an audio cue from it. Listen for 3 more Dives and dodge/etc again. I beat him with an SL 10 after 14 hours today, it was awful lol.
@@KKKuma It very specifically seems to target where you were when he jumped versus tracking you. Second he jumps you just run as far from that spot as possible.
I bet if those wete meant to be two dlcs a lot landed on cutting room floor. I bet it would've been DS3 situation, with mesmer in place of sister fride as the final boss of first dlc. Everything after mesmer kinda sucks.
@@10hawelli have to agree, the first half of the DLC feels like painted world, and the second half felt like late ringed city. I wouldnt be surprised if they were 2 DLC combined into one.
You can definitely tell they cut a or didn’t finish a whole lot of this dlc, like the multiple areas that have nothing in them besides one quest and once that quest objective is finished you have no reason to return to any of those areas and that sucks cause some of these areas look really beautiful maybe 2 years wasnt enough
Yeah i got that inpression from abyssal woods and ruins of rauh . Tbh it doesn't bother me because we got a huge amount of content but still i wish they didn't cut stuff all the time in their games ( although atleast this isn't a ds3 situation where it was a completley different game )
Yeah abyssal woods was the biggest for me. Really y'all made a whole area and its filled with rats and one new enemy type? Then midras house you can go through and get all the items in less than 20 mins.
I honestly question why they took out this cutscene, it would make sense that you would have one last dialogue conversation with her before she wilts away or goes into a deep slumber.🐱
Maybe they should've kept it but I think it makes sense why they removed it , it wouldn't make a lot if sense for trina to be alive after killing miquella . Plus finding just the corpse laying there is also impactful . Although i wished we got a proper cutscene after killing miquella or another ending for the dlc
To hear that line you should need to drink her nectar one last time, which she can't give you if she is already dead. What they could have done Imo is giving us the dialogue as an easter egg if we rest at a grace while wearing the flower we take from her, or something like that.

Regarding other DLC content, do you know what might have happened to the DLC gameplay trailer scene of Miquella gesturing to the Scadutree? Do any fragments remain indicating what the scene might have been named? Also, what's the story with the Scadutree vessel, and the enormous monolith with the semi-circular crux at the top?

I really like this extra scene, but I see why it got cut. Definitely way more impactful to go back to St. Trina after beating Miquella and seeing her just dead.
I think it's clear why they cut this one. They didn't want a repeat of all the idiocy about Marika and Radagon (which mostly is coming from the western audience). Trina *is, and always has been,* Miquella. The same as Radagon *is, and always has been,* Marika.
Im curious is there still a chance for a very hidden boss that no one ever found yet in the dlc? Just like nameless king on DS3 that people found months after release
It does certainly seem like it should have a larger purpose, with how grand the building in front of it is. And I've also been wondering about Mesmer's Kindling, it'd be cool if we could somehow use it on the Erdtree instead of Melina or Frenzy.
Obviously not 100% sure but chalices or bassins (they look exactly the same) are under every erdtree in the game to collect falling crystal tears; to make physicks. Considering Blessings of Marika are in physicks flasks I think she was fucking around with the tree/alchemy to cure her son Messmer. Probably why its all messed up too and might be related to whatever she did thats considered a betrayal.

They wasted Miquella in the dlc. The fact that u only see him as a final boss is just stupid after all the hype they built up for him. u don't even get to interact with him once.
setting him up for the final encounter was the entire point??? You learn so much about him through the npcs and his crosses. It’s like no one played the game and rushed to the bosses.
Before the DLC came out, I thought the worst they could do was to diminish Miquella to just a final boss. Like damn, it would be so good to have him appear as an actual character before the finale, instead of being only mentioned, and then killed.
It's almost like the crosses were building up to actually meeting him, creating a build up of anticipation in the player,. But no, everything has to have big dialog moments with 5 minute cutscenes or else it's lazy now. Subtlety is bad game design now, tell me everything to my face with several flashing lights and jingling keys or I WILL be angry! >:(
No one is saying he needs a 5 min. cut scene of.him talking to us but some actual dialogue with the character who the whole dlc is centered around would have been nice. All we get is NPC speculation and some crosses that say he abandoned his whole self to become a god woo. We learn more about messmer and radahn than miquella...
30+ hours, best map design since Zelda TotK, awesome bosses, weapons and builds...and a lot of lore to uncover...best DLC ever...i just mad that i cannot erease my memories and play all new again.
@@Codigoduro1 Don't you wish we got more bosses with cutscenes... more on that Frenzy mansion's story... more on Marika's village... on Godwyn's revival, for St. Trina to have more of an impact than a blabbing distorted corpse... for Belurat to be larger (at least half the size of Leyndell)... or the dragon peaks to be a bit more detailed like Faraum Azula... or more lore on GEQ and the godskins? Wishing is free man. We can applaud what they did right and simultaneously acknowledge where they left us wanting more, considering it's the only DLC there will be for ER.

@@mariofigueroa878 No, actually, I don't wish I had answers to all those things lol. I get why other people who are more new to Fromsoft want answers, but From rarely ever gives those to us. Bloodborne still has many unanswered questions that will never be answered. People spent just about every Dark Souls game trying to figure out who the pigmy could have been, but we were obviously never given an answer throughout the 3 games and DLCs. It doesn't make it worse or leave me feeling like I want more. And honestly, from the way you talk about things they DID give us, I don't think you would have been satisfied with answers if they were given to us. They let us speak and see St Trina, and you only see that as talking to "A babbling distorted corpse"... I have a feeling if they showed us a weakened, half dead Gloam Eye'd Queen saying "I am Melina, daughter of Marika" or some shit you'd still dismiss it as not enough. And we got a ton of lore about Marika and her people, we even know her motivation for making the erdtree and why she has been so brutal to the omen. I honestly can't imagine what more you could have wanted from Marika's village short of a cutscene, which would ruin the empty and abandoned mood they were going for. GRRM heavily teased that there is an Elden Ring show coming. As much as I personally dread to say it since I do not feel like watching a TV show for lore, there most certainly will be more answers when/if that ever materializes. Personally, what they do give us is enough for me. What they do give us recontextualized the whole game and several characters. That's a huge accomplishment.
Makes sense that they cut this. Wouldn't make sense for a part of Miquella (St. Trina) to be alive to speak to you after you kill Miquella, though I presume she was originally intended to die immediately after saying these words.
I don’t know, I feel like in divesting himself of Trina, they became separated. If killing him would also kill her, then it stands to reason that killing her would’ve also killed him. If that’s the case, she would’ve known that and just asked you to kill her in order to stop him. I don’t know if she even can die, she just fell into an eternal sleep or something like that 🤷🏼♂️

So, if we kill Saint Trina, it means we only kill Miquella's alter ego. Marika and Radagon situation is also same. When we kill Elden Beast we get God Slain. But Elden Beast is not a God. Its just a vassal to Greater Will. But what Elden Beast did before we fight? It transformed Radagon to a sword. So in a term we killed Radagon. That's why we got God Slain. But Marika's empty husk still is a God. Elden Beast just separated them in a way. But Marika didn't die. Because Radagon is her alter ego. And we became Elden Lord, we can't be a lord if there is no God. Even Enia says Marika still remains as God and be her Lord. Marika only dies when we get Frenzied Flame Ending. Because frenzied flame also destroys souls. That is why Marika's body shattered.

Man, seems to me the DLC was rush out the door. I would be fine if they release the DLC at the end of this year. Godwyn, Melina, GEQ etc was sadly missing in the DLC and so little about St Trina or even Miquella. Not really happy with only one ending. I hope they will surprised us with another small DLC to Shadow of the Erdtree to tighten up some loose ends.
bro Godwyn is dead, like dead dead, the only dead demigod in soul. There's no way he'd come back in any way or form. Also Melina disappeared when she burnt herself to burn the tree, so she's gone too. Sure they could make up some bs excuse to bring her back but there's no need.
@@residente44 Godwyn is not dead. He still need a "true death". Melina is alive in Frenzied Flame ending. We don't even know if she is dead. Messmer's Kindling's item description says that he, like his younger sister, bore a vision of fire. She is Messmer's sister. She even show up in the DLC and you can talk to her if you have not finish the main game. She is the only one that cross over to the Shadow Realm from the main game so that means something.
@@asia911 you can talk to her but she speaks of the normal lands between stuff. She doesnt aknowledge youre in the shadowlands or the fact that you beat her brother. Shes just irrelevant to the plot. And godwyn is just dead hes just an immortal corpse with no soul, no conscience, no thoughts. Theres nothing theres but literal death

tbh, It's a wasted opportunity that they did not make another questline involving one of Godwyn's Death Knights and the Eclipse. Imagine the implications of them performing the Eclipse Ritual successfully, that would actually be a more satisfying end to Godwyn's lore than the one in Fia's questline.
I assume he would have said that after we killed Miquella, but since they seem to have drastically changed the ending close to the release date, they removed it.
@hinkelstein1494 I dunno about "drastic" endgame changes. We know they cut this minor moment and the more significant healing of the Scadutree (and that latter part might've been cut for PS4/PC performance issues), but I'm not aware of any other known major changes.

it is funny. all i've seen was a dialogue to drink some poison and die, and then there was only a dead body in the end. this dlc reminded me how i hate this game design, because i need to find the quest first, not just complete it.

I think st trina should've had a more impactfull role in the dlc, she is the other part of miquella god dammit. I think it would've been cool if after radahn/miquella fight you could've talked with miquiella and than have two choices, the first one is to kill him for good because of all the bad things he did and the other option avaible only after doing st trina quest to forgive him and showing him the thing he souldnt have left behind "compassion", then he would repair his broken great rune and give it to you under the form of a mending rune so you could unlock a new ending. Personal opinion but i think they wasted miquella in a dlc that should have been about him
To all people saying the DLC is unfinished and rushed out: This is just part of game development. Maybe they decided it just wouldn't fit in the game with St Trina being linked with Miquella, her not being able to talk to you after his death is completely understandable. Just because something was cut from the game, doesn't mean it was supposed to be in it, but they ran out of time. It can simply be a artistic choice.

At this point I really started to think from software is really trying to make the lore so hard to understand intentionally. While I love the lore they design I do not like this method of hiding away a lot of things and making it difficult to understand such outstanding lore. Not praiseworthy
Caged Divinity? I would love to know more about this. Why is it a caged divinity when they become a God? Did Marika divest her self the same way? Why is Radagon still with her if St. Trina is left behind? The DLC created more questions than answers
Caged by the false will of the Greater Will. Through its angelic children the Elden Beast and the Two Fingers. The things Marika chaffed against and cooked up the Eclipse plan for Miquella to break free from. But Miquella fails at everything... So he foolishly tried to repeat his mother's process of becoming a god... Which did work. But the outcome would be the unwanted exactly the same as Marika.

That's why the very very very end of the DLC felt a little flat to me. Im missing something that gives a concluding feeling to it. When you defeat Radahn and Miquella they don't even have dialogue. The memory is fantastic absolutely. But that was context of a prior event rather than the end of the present .
I'm pretty sure this message happen after the final fight, you go back to her and drink again to hear this message, once respawn you will see her lying on the ground, but what we get in the release is that she is already dead when we port there.

Bro I love you and your content but my guy the expansion has barely been out a week and some of us don't have time to finish it in a couple days. I've already had a couple major points spoiled just by opening up youtube and seeing your thumbnails. I'm begging you, please try to avoid spoilers in your titles and thumbnails, even if its just for a week or two more.
After defeating Radhan and Miquella I went around the map to check on the NPC's for something more. When I got to St. Trina finding only the flower remaining and silence all around was sad but really impactful somehow. I think not adding this cutscene was the best choice; more in line with the games vibe

With Florissax offering her dreams and sleep to Placidusax and St. Trina's sleep itself being death, I think there are some interesting themes and overlaps in those roles, so it'll be interesting to poke around and see what ideas like this they cut back on slightly.

Even lady leda says St Trina has boundless love for miquella and she wouldnt turn against him even after being cast away. St trina knows godhood would be a prison and curse for miquella so she begs you to grant him forgiveness my killing him. It’s a tragic situation.
I don't think Miquella was prevented from dying, so if he only wanted to kill himself, nothing would really be stopping him. In the case of Golden Epitaph's description, Miquella was trying whatever he could to stop the Death Blight plague. Killing Godwyn's body was the first effort and apparently failed, so the next effort was to revive Godwyn's soul with the Castle Sol ritual.

She made it seem like killing miquella would be a somewhat easy task (or at least only reasonably difficult)... Failing to mention he had pay to win hacks ready for you at the end by way of a stardust meteor covered in holy light capable of one shotting you.
You either git gud, or wait long enough for the boss to be nerfed.
I finally beat the boss, and how are you meant to dodge that meteor? I never managed it. Only reason I ever survived was because one of my messages got appraised between the first and second hit of the meteor, just barely allowing me to survive the attack.
@@casual2694 You only have to dodge the center one and the big explosion after the 5th one. He tries to go in a X pattern (starting with the center, then each end point) but if you're close to a wall it'll get weird and the explosions overlap much more than normal.
The play is when you see his HP near the word "consort" try to position in the center. When the HP is under the letters "ONS" start buffing after whatever attack he's doing and go center stage. Locate Star>Run at the star and Dodge/Roll/Vow of the Indomitable as soon as you hear an audio cue from it. Listen for 3 more Dives and dodge/etc again.
I beat him with an SL 10 after 14 hours today, it was awful lol.

You can definitely tell they cut a or didn’t finish a whole lot of this dlc, like the multiple areas that have nothing in them besides one quest and once that quest objective is finished you have no reason to return to any of those areas and that sucks cause some of these areas look really beautiful maybe 2 years wasnt enough
Yeah i got that inpression from abyssal woods and ruins of rauh . Tbh it doesn't bother me because we got a huge amount of content but still i wish they didn't cut stuff all the time in their games ( although atleast this isn't a ds3 situation where it was a completley different game )

Maybe they should've kept it but I think it makes sense why they removed it , it wouldn't make a lot if sense for trina to be alive after killing miquella . Plus finding just the corpse laying there is also impactful .

To hear that line you should need to drink her nectar one last time, which she can't give you if she is already dead.
What they could have done Imo is giving us the dialogue as an easter egg if we rest at a grace while wearing the flower we take from her, or something like that.

Does the Scadu chalice serve any purpose, like being able to use Messmer's kindling on it?
It does certainly seem like it should have a larger purpose, with how grand the building in front of it is. And I've also been wondering about Mesmer's Kindling, it'd be cool if we could somehow use it on the Erdtree instead of Melina or Frenzy.
Obviously not 100% sure but chalices or bassins (they look exactly the same) are under every erdtree in the game to collect falling crystal tears; to make physicks. Considering Blessings of Marika are in physicks flasks I think she was fucking around with the tree/alchemy to cure her son Messmer. Probably why its all messed up too and might be related to whatever she did thats considered a betrayal.

You find Perfumer tools all around the medical area where the shaman Jars are being... "Treated" in an attempt to "fix" them.
They wasted Miquella in the dlc. The fact that u only see him as a final boss is just stupid after all the hype they built up for him. u don't even get to interact with him once.
setting him up for the final encounter was the entire point??? You learn so much about him through the npcs and his crosses. It’s like no one played the game and rushed to the bosses.
Before the DLC came out, I thought the worst they could do was to diminish Miquella to just a final boss. Like damn, it would be so good to have him appear as an actual character before the finale, instead of being only mentioned, and then killed.
It's almost like the crosses were building up to actually meeting him, creating a build up of anticipation in the player,. But no, everything has to have big dialog moments with 5 minute cutscenes or else it's lazy now. Subtlety is bad game design now, tell me everything to my face with several flashing lights and jingling keys or I WILL be angry! >:(
No one is saying he needs a 5 min. cut scene of.him talking to us but some actual dialogue with the character who the whole dlc is centered around would have been nice. All we get is NPC speculation and some crosses that say he abandoned his whole self to become a god woo. We learn more about messmer and radahn than miquella...

Bloodborne still has many unanswered questions that will never be answered. People spent just about every Dark Souls game trying to figure out who the pigmy could have been, but we were obviously never given an answer throughout the 3 games and DLCs. It doesn't make it worse or leave me feeling like I want more. And honestly, from the way you talk about things they DID give us, I don't think you would have been satisfied with answers if they were given to us. They let us speak and see St Trina, and you only see that as talking to "A babbling distorted corpse"... I have a feeling if they showed us a weakened, half dead Gloam Eye'd Queen saying "I am Melina, daughter of Marika" or some shit you'd still dismiss it as not enough. And we got a ton of lore about Marika and her people, we even know her motivation for making the erdtree and why she has been so brutal to the omen. I honestly can't imagine what more you could have wanted from Marika's village short of a cutscene, which would ruin the empty and abandoned mood they were going for. GRRM heavily teased that there is an Elden Ring show coming. As much as I personally dread to say it since I do not feel like watching a TV show for lore, there most certainly will be more answers when/if that ever materializes. Personally, what they do give us is enough for me. What they do give us recontextualized the whole game and several characters. That's a huge accomplishment.

I don’t know, I feel like in divesting himself of Trina, they became separated. If killing him would also kill her, then it stands to reason that killing her would’ve also killed him. If that’s the case, she would’ve known that and just asked you to kill her in order to stop him. I don’t know if she even can die, she just fell into an eternal sleep or something like that 🤷🏼♂️

Marika and Radagon situation is also same. When we kill Elden Beast we get God Slain. But Elden Beast is not a God. Its just a vassal to Greater Will.
But what Elden Beast did before we fight? It transformed Radagon to a sword. So in a term we killed Radagon. That's why we got God Slain. But Marika's empty husk still is a God. Elden Beast just separated them in a way. But Marika didn't die. Because Radagon is her alter ego. And we became Elden Lord, we can't be a lord if there is no God.
Even Enia says Marika still remains as God and be her Lord.
Marika only dies when we get Frenzied Flame Ending. Because frenzied flame also destroys souls. That is why Marika's body shattered.

Man, seems to me the DLC was rush out the door. I would be fine if they release the DLC at the end of this year. Godwyn, Melina, GEQ etc was sadly missing in the DLC and so little about St Trina or even Miquella. Not really happy with only one ending. I hope they will surprised us with another small DLC to Shadow of the Erdtree to tighten up some loose ends.

Messmer's Kindling's item description says that he, like his younger sister, bore a vision of fire. She is Messmer's sister. She even show up in the DLC and you can talk to her if you have not finish the main game. She is the only one that cross over to the Shadow Realm from the main game so that means something.

tbh, It's a wasted opportunity that they did not make another questline involving one of Godwyn's Death Knights and the Eclipse. Imagine the implications of them performing the Eclipse Ritual successfully, that would actually be a more satisfying end to Godwyn's lore than the one in Fia's questline.

We know they cut this minor moment and the more significant healing of the Scadutree (and that latter part might've been cut for PS4/PC performance issues), but I'm not aware of any other known major changes.

At the end of the game after you kill Radahn and Miquella, if you go back to Trina, she is dead. Their deaths man they can both finally be free of the cruelty Miquella enacted on them both and pass on in peace

I think it would've been cool if after radahn/miquella fight you could've talked with miquiella and than have two choices, the first one is to kill him for good because of all the bad things he did and the other option avaible only after doing st trina quest to forgive him and showing him the thing he souldnt have left behind "compassion", then he would repair his broken great rune and give it to you under the form of a mending rune so you could unlock a new ending.

To all people saying the DLC is unfinished and rushed out: This is just part of game development. Maybe they decided it just wouldn't fit in the game with St Trina being linked with Miquella, her not being able to talk to you after his death is completely understandable. Just because something was cut from the game, doesn't mean it was supposed to be in it, but they ran out of time. It can simply be a artistic choice.

At this point I really started to think from software is really trying to make the lore so hard to understand intentionally. While I love the lore they design I do not like this method of hiding away a lot of things and making it difficult to understand such outstanding lore. Not praiseworthy

Miquella discarded his other half, Trina (along with his physical body), and sealed her away, even though she loves him.
Read the crosses, Miquella divests himself of everything to become a God, including St Trina.
Sr. Trina was apart of Miquella but was formed when he threw away a certain part of himself away

After defeating Radhan and Miquella I went around the map to check on the NPC's for something more. When I got to St. Trina finding only the flower remaining and silence all around was sad but really impactful somehow. I think not adding this cutscene was the best choice; more in line with the games vibe
