I had a miscarriage a few months ago and one of my church leaders was comforting me and mentioned how my miscarriage was not God’s perfect will, but His permissive will. God does not delight in bad things happening to His children, but bad things do happen. This was an eye opener for me.
I'm so sorry for your miscarriage. My heart goes out to you ♥️ That church leader is right. It's not God's perfect will but He does allow certain things to happen (good and bad) out of His Sovereign will. We don't always know why but we must trust His reason and plans for it is good and always better than our own. I like to recall the story of Job in times like this who lost everything. In that moment he said something so profound and wise in Job 1:21, “...Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Job blessed the Lord for all that He gave him even though it was taken away. He knew the Lord had a reason and it was good for God is good ALL the time. Praying God gives you the comfort and peace you need.

Is like, for instance, if you are at a traffic light, you can choose to not go on the red light, or go on the red light. If you don't go on the red light, you will be safe, if you go on the red light, you either get a ticket if caught or get into an accident. Either way, you are suffering the consequences of either actions. And with free will, is the same thing, God is giving everyone a chance and grace to chose Him willingly, He hopes for everyone to chose the Gift bestowed upon us, but some of us reject that gift.

God lovingly gave us free will so we would come to Him willingly and not out of forced submission. Secondly, He did solve the problem of evil and sin through His son Jesus Christ who died for our sins and saved us from eternal Hell (1 Tim 1:15, Rom 6:23). That was His plan. Although, eternal life and forgiveness of sins is only given to those who put their faith in Him and repent of their sins. That is the sure hope that believers have once they leave this fallen world and are in Heaven with Him forever. But one day, all evil and sin will be completely eradicated when Christ comes back and establishes a new heaven and a new earth (Rev 21). There is no need for free will in Heaven because everything is already made perfect. The choice you made here on earth to either put your faith and trust in Him or turn away caused either two outcomes: eternal life in Heaven or eternal life in Hell. That was the free will choice you were given on earth and that is why Christ urges us to repent and believe before it's too late. Hope this helps.

How are we to learn to forgive, as we are commanded, if we never have something to forgive? God's job is not to make everything nice for us. God's job is to help us return to Him.

This starts with God becoming a human in Jesus Christ the LORD dying on the cross to pay for sin and rising from the dead to conquer the enemy of mankind, which is death, the penalty for sin. 3. Part two of God’s plan, to restore EVERLASTING RIGHTEOUSNESS. I would say a few things. 1. Prove he exists 2. Prove that his plan is good. Some details in the plan should include that all past and present suffering will be worth whatever outcome he has in mind, even if the suffering are not Christian or accept Jesus. And that goes for the saved too, meaning that regardless of religious affilation, everyone's suffering will disappear. If the ladder cannot be shown, than it is not, by definition, an all good plan, because not everyone has had a good outcome.

My two cents: keep that to a book club that’s done outside of church. Her purpose in writing it wasn’t for it to be studied and discussed as an organized group at church. Even if it was, think deeper about what the purpose of coming together at church is for.
