    Good merry morning, DGR!
    Picked up a 2nd pair of SL20 at Ross for $23 yesterday. They're just giving them away! I'd like to try the v2. I just hope it didn't lose the essence that we all know and love from v1.

    I’m a fan. Feel fast in it. Lightweight. Fit for me is great. Grip is great. Good for race, tempo, steady runs. In my top 3: behind the Endorphin Speed for sure.

    I am a fan of Ultraboost. Being a heavy runner and having had three surgeries, one on my knee, one on my shoulder, and one on my lower back, I never thought I would run again. The Ultraboost 19 changed my life. With my situation, I judge a good midsole by how far I can run before something begins to pinch. I found that I could go further and longer with Boost than my other running shoes. At age 56 I entered my first 5k and ran in my Ultraboost 19's and placed second. That was a big deal for me. One year later, everything has become a little stronger and now have the Saucony Ride 13 and Reebok Floatride Energy in my rotation. Slowly working my way towards firmer midsoles the stronger I get.

    QOD: I love the SL20. My original pair has 330 miles according to Strava. I will probably go at least another 200 miles in them. They are holding up that well. I have another boxed pair that I found online for $45 and I have a pair coming in the mail, the Primeblue version actually, that I found for $35 dollars. By the time I get through those two pairs, I will probably be able to find the SL20.2 for a similar price. Love the shoe. My rotation right now is Saucony Ride 10 for recovery days, Nike Pegasus 36 for long runs and sometimes recovery days, SL20 for literally everything else. As you can probably tell, I refuse to pay more than $100 for a pair of running shoes even if I have to go back a generation or two. I run 2,500 miles a year and go through shoes way too fast to justify dropping $130-$150 on the latest pair.

      ive only been able to find SL20s in one of my 5 Ross around me, which ironically the one closest to me only has them but not in my SIZE!!!, been trying to make long trips to visit more but none in those stores had any at all. So I ended up getting a half size down PrimeBlue version as well, and testing it at home but doubt it will for me as this toebox is already on the slim side for me. So did all your Ross had it? and where did u get the ones as cheap online!?!?! heelllp lol, I hate missing out on a great price and I like sprinting during my runs and this shoe fits (soccer/tennis player here)

    Just got the Adidas Takumi Sen7 and I am testing them on the treadmill now. Seth, you’d love these! 6 oz, like a slipper. Keeps me on my toes, literally. Unisex men’s size 7.5 fits my W8.5 Boston size like a glove. Boost only in the forefoot rather than heel..interesting and logical for a track and 5k racer, which is how I plan to use it. Extremely snappy shoe! The design is gorgeous. Merry Christmas to the SJD family! Martha

    I love the SL20s. I run in mainly react or Fuelcell (rebels) and the lightstrike gives me the right about amount cushion to responsiveness ratio. Since getting them my 5k PB has shaved off 45 secs and got me into sub 18s. I've used them on my long runs too and my legs feel fresher than more cushioned shoes. The SL20s 1s are such a steal at the price. I'm shying away from the 2s ATM as the extra weight doesn't enthuse me. I'll stick with the 1s until I can't find em! Then go to 2s

    No Ross stores over here, but did buy the SL20 v1 just last month for EUR 60. Used them this this weekend for a 5k time trial and they were amazing. Will use them for my faster workouts or races up to 10k.

    Really funny thing happened. I got a great deal on the SL20 shoe at $80 on Amazon recently. It came in yesterday and I had a nice 6 mile run in them this morning. Smooth and comfortable. I looked over your review of the SL20 model and mine were different in many ways. Then I looked at this review to find they sent me the newer SL20.2. Apparently, Amazon doesn't know the difference. I do. You have taught me well Seth. :-)

    My SL20 .2’s arrived yesterday and I had ran a short speed workout this morning in them in the rain. Seth is right - they have tons of grip, felt fairly springy, and definitely light. Real excited to add them to my rotation!

    Just bought this shoe not long ago, feels so nice during runs.
    Would recommend to anyone looking for tweener shoes!
    But because of the firmer midsole, I could see myself getting the Pegasus 38 or 39 for daily runs.

    Maybe there are some DGR followers willing to “sponsor” a runner and buy other runners a pair of shoes or clothing. DGR followers could submit their stories on why they are needy and sponsors could pick from the stories on who they want to help. They could email and support the DGRs sponsored runners with emails, text, shoe, and equipment. Just a thought to hand off some of SOS and make it more direct to support runners.

    Slower recovery miles Solarglide 3. Fit Alert: has a nice wide high volume toebox with some snappiness Continental grips snow amazing. Use Boston 8/9 for sessions this use of Boost is very effective, 8.5 is size 9 soft bounce at heel with firmer toeoff. 6'182lbs 430miles on Boston still going...

    I'm a big fan of the boost foam because it has been a component of the most durable shoes I've ever had.
    Mileage value is very important to me. The boston 6-8 could easily last to 1000 miles per pair

  • @dawson9736
    @dawson9736 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    These shoes are really fast. I did 16 miles at 6:46 pace, which is really good for me. The major drawback: so incredibly uncomfortable. I got 2 raging friction blisters on my feet and 2 toenails that are on the verge of falling off. Bear in mind, this was my 3rd time wearing the shoes. Overall, not satisfied at all and definitely not worth $110.

  • @glenzilly6065

    Unfortunately the original SL20 only went up to size 13 regular and since I need at least a 13 wide or 14 I was not able to try it out. If they make the SL20.2 in size 14 I will consider it, especially if it ends up with similar discounts to the original version.

    The Boost midsole seems to have a longer lifespan and better stability over time. I've found that the light-strike midsoles warp pretty quickly in the direction of over pronation. Unfortunately, i haven't found a successful adidas running shoe to date for milage between 40-100 miles per week.

    Just a quick word on long term durability. I have 300+ running miles on my SL20.2s. Was holding up and still felt great until yesterday when the inside material on the heel pocket wore through causing a fiction cut on the back of my heel. Sad to see them go... I may try to patch them up so I can repurpose them for walking.

  • @Simon8ken103
    @Simon8ken103 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have had the originals a couple of months now and use them for intervals and tempo days. I definitely agree with your conclusion, I like the snappy feel when going faster, but I don't like the fit or feel of the upper. The tongue folds over itself, I was advised to size up and the toe box feels too roomy, and the heel is not very secure. I don't think I'll get the V2. Would you say the Hyperion tempo would be a slightly softer and better fitting alternative?

    Funny you should mention the grip. I keep a pair of old Adidas Supernovas in my rotation just for slick, rainy days. Also, I found the old Supernova line was the perfect implementation of Boost. The Boston and Adios were too little. The Ultraboost was all kinds of sloppy.

    • @LuchoVena
      @LuchoVena 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had Supernovas back in the say too, was that a tempo shoe or also had different variations for different purposes? at the time I wasnt as knowledgeable about shoes, it was the show I saw cheap at a store, and got them coz I needed a running shoe for soccer practices lol I miss it, sad they dont make that line anymore. was its "continuation" if u know.

    Hi! I'm from the Philippines and would really love to have a shoe from SOS for I really can't afford a decent one. I'm always thinking about running especially this lockdown. Its my way of coping up in these trying times. I've tried a OEM one but regret using it. Merry Christmas everyone!

    I have 2 pairs of adidas ultra boost 20, I absolutely love them as a great all rounder because it is so comfy and it looks really good, not a hypebeast or anything but I love them for intervals and long runs

    QOD: Buying the original SL20 for the price point I bought it for, $32.99 (even made the vlog!!) was the best purchase I’ve made in a long time! I plan on getting the SL20.2 but will wait for new colorways to hit the market before purchasing. Maybe by that point, Ross will have them for $32.99!!! 😆
    Merry Christmas DGR Family!!!

    I just don’t believe the stack height is lower then the v1. Everything about it suggests it’s actually higher.

    Are you faster with these or Adizero Pro?

    Seth would you say the SL20.2 feels like the Boston 9 as far as cushion and energy return?

    One glaring difference in the outsole of the SL20.2 (NO TORSION PLATE). A torsion plate almost has the same effect as a carbon plate. This is one reason I would consider the original SL20 to be slightly superior to the 20.2.

    How would this compare to the Kinvara 12? 28/24mm, and 7.5 oz for that one.

    QD: Been to multiple Ross's and only my closest one has them, but not on my size! I had to settle for a half-size down, and while it fits, im afraid it may not be as properly relaxed as the regular size I did buy for like $75 online for when I start using them :/ . My Search continues!
    tips on Anywhere else?

    QD: I picked up a pair after your video for $35. It definitely is a bit firm for me, but I do find myself wanting to run faster every time I put them on. Its will be good as I'm adding some more speed work in my second year running.

      You can buy them from the official Adidas website for 60 euros (in the Netherlands at least)

    I love the style of Adidas shoes but the inconsistent sizing is an issue for me. It varies too much from model to model so unless I can try them in store at a discount I probably won’t be buying them.

    You can't clean them at all. I mean one mud spot and it's gone. There is an small net over the surface of the shoe. All the dirt that is underneath it will stay there forever. How can you clean them after a dirty track?

    I really like Boost because it gives me good energy return and is very durable. It's also soft enough to cushion me from the road, but hard enough to give me good running mechanics.

      same here!, been making long trips all over the area and only my local one had any at all, and so i had to settle for a half size down on the PrimeBLue version, and Idk if I will keep it as I think may become too tight as I swell/use them.

    I tried some Adidas this year... they were 160$ shoes but I got them for about 80$... they were good for a while... but I think they really dropped off after 100 miles...
