    Both are good speakers, both are winners, and it all depends on your preferences. B&W has highly detailed highs that detail lovers will love. Dali is a more organic sound. Regarding the sound stage and the images I think you have to listen to them in person.

    Bonjour.

    amp is very warm for the dalis and you can hear the discomfort from them. b&w love warmth since their tweeters are very expressive in the highs and can seem tinny.

    I previously own B&W 683 S2, I would say B&W is more fit for people who wanted to have a sweeter vocal sound ...
    Both shared different sound preferences. For those who love musicals/string kinds of things, Dali would be the one you are looking for.
    For jazz/pop, just get the B&W one and you would be happy with it.
    PS: currently using Dali spektor 2 in living room, still acceptable for me in general.

    Mmm dunno, dunno) I’m having Oberons 3 now and actually I feel I’m regularly getting tired while listening due to really huge scene, rich vocals and highs and also really deep bass. So you receive a really loooot of information by ears. Everything is performed very well - rich deep juicy but I feel tooo juicy, the sound is too intimate, soft and I want less scale and more accurate sharp bass instead of Oberon’s substantive but not concrete one. And Im thinking about some more fast speakers now. What experience do you have?

    B&W sound sweet, beautiful, due to the color of high frequencies. Low compared to Dali also dominate. It's a shame that the Dali Oberon 1 lacks bass because otherwise it sounds pretty decent with voices and very open compared to the more bassy B&W which except having more bass sounds unnatural and V shaped. However the Oberon does well with voices but the upper mids are pretty forward and so i find the Dali a bit harsh in that region while the B&W have a harsh treble

    My first thoughts were that the 607 S2 seems to have less harsh and slightly more refined treble than the 606 S2 in the last test. I have no guess as to why, but it would be a very worthwhile trade-off for the 606's deeper bass, wich might make me want to kill myself less. That's the best I can say about them. The Dali's are nearer to the realm of remotely neutral sounding, with liberal amounts of upper and center midrange and more soft edged and musical, but slightly spitty treble. They are still quite on the lean side of neutral, lacking weight and authority in the lower mids and bass regions. I could live with them with warm amplification and a sub, but they fall short of being my favorite among the speakers compared on this channel.

    Interesting comparison. Can I just point out that the Dalis are supposed to have their grills on. Dali voice their speakers with the grills on. Also they should NOT be toed in. Both these things make them sound brighter than they are.

    Je regarde vos vidéo avec attention, et je dois dire que j'ai été extrêmement surpris par le comparatif RA12 vs CXA61 qui paraissent assez proche sur la vidéo alors qu'ils ont complétement différent l'un de l'autre. J'ai pu tester les deux en même temps chez moi, je n'ai pas du tout aimé le CXA.

    Wow, Oberons! One of the other channels I usually watch tends to use the Oberons as his point of reference for comparisons. I used to have a pair of Zensor 1 many years ago. They were great speakers, and very good value for money. Although I could buy them at cost price, so it was even cheaper. Those 607s, as detailed as they are, are just way too fatiguing for me. Even with some treble modification, I feel there is so much being left out in the mid. Seems like a common complaint.
    Just a question, as I'm new to "audiophilia", what makes the mid recessed? Is it the cross over? The material of the woofer/tweeter, or the driver?

    • @DougMen1
      @DougMen1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's mainly a poorly designed crossover that isn't handling the balance between the woofer and tweeter well, often trying to make the woofer work higher than it should by setting the crossover too high, in order to protect a less than robust tweeter from being damaged by too much power. All drivers, whether woofers or tweeters, produce less than stellar sound at the extremes of their range, both low and high, so it's the designers job to design a crossover that doesn't allow the drivers to play and be heard at those frequency extremes, and for the drivers to overlap smoothly, without any detrimental interactions. It's also caused by drivers that aren't really a good match, coupled with a crossover (and front baffle design) where the drivers aren't in phase where they overlap and that causes cancellation of some frequencies

    • @snakeobias
      @snakeobias 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DougMen1 Thanks for the great answer. Very articulate and I now have a better understanding of it. So I guess if you had someone like GR Research doing a mod on the crossover might balance out the frequencies, or would the fix need to be made at the design/pre-production stage?

    • @DougMen1
      @DougMen1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@snakeobias No, Danny has done those kind of corrections on many speakers, and the B&W 606S2 is one of the ones he's recently done. I don't always necessarily agree with his assesment that much more expensive caps and inductors make as large a difference in sound quality as he claims, but I have little direct experience in that area. That being said, his design experience at making a speaker much better balanced than when it left the factory is beyond reproach, IMO. Many of those things I talked about are the exact kind of things he also talks about on his channel, and I've learned a lot from him. There are some speakers where he says that the drivers are just too poor or too poorly matched for him to be able to do anything to improve them, but those are in the minority. There are others, where the speaker is so inexpensive, that he doesn't feel it's worth spending a lot of money on a high quality crossover that would cost far more than just buying a better speaker. There are others, like the Micca RB42, that he was very impressed with, but the cabinet is just too small to fit the larger aircore inductors and other parts that he would use in a newly designed crossover for it. There are very few where he said he couldn't do much to improve them, but there are some that he said were so well designed that he wouldn't change the crossover design other than using the same values, but with higher quality parts

    • @snakeobias
      @snakeobias 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DougMen1 fair enough. Thanks again for your insight. I guess the one thing missing from his channel is demos, or discussions on the sound of speakers. I've only watched a couple but he really only talks about the improvements in objective terms, like frequency responses etc. Now, I know that a lot of audiophiles and experienced people can understand those charts and get a good idea of what the sounds is actually like, but he could at least give a before/after sound demo of how the repairs/mods have improved them. I mean, I bought my Q350s recently, and since then I've started to see negative reviews in terms of some frequency charts etc (ones I never noticed in my research prior to buying), but I still feel the speakers work well for me, so seeing how a few tweaks would actually change the sound would be worthwhile, perhaps.

      @34332 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@snakeobias
      Don't worry too much about critics or measurements. Your own ears tell you if you like them or not. Sometimes a good measurement chart or spinorama can tell you a thing about it's expected performance (in room). For example, the R200 have a specific ring radiator tweeter. Downside is that they beam a bit, narrowing the sweetspot. Klipsch got a beaming hornlike tweeter. Upside is, although narrow beaming, that reflections or distortions are far less (from sidewalls). This beaming/sweetspot is more of a problem when you sit close(r) to the speakers and/or too high/low, etc. In everyday use it's likely not that noticable at all. The 350's are good speakers with decent dispersion. I would choose them all day long above the 606 or 607 S2's 😄, because they are balanced enough.
      Most important, you can have excellent speakers that can sound crap in your room, due to specific reflections or frequencies, amplified by your walls. Less speakers can sound fantastic when room interaction is mild, etc. You can't really predict based on charts. Charts can tell you a bit about how neutral a speaker is, bass response, bright, forward, laid-back, etc.
      You said it, 'I like them'. This is all what counts. 👍

      I personally just like the mids. And i "dislike" the thinner shinier highs on the B&Ws. Bass wise i must say the Dali is great. But i like how the B&Ws extends further. But im a Sennheiser kind of guy. Sennheiser also has this "natural" timbre. Lush Mids. Dry but sweet bass not extending far down but just punch differently.
      But yes what i am trying to say is. It is very subjective. Both are very Linear and revealing. Both have their strengths and few weaknesses.
      I think in the Headphone world Beyerdynamic vs Sennheiser is very similar to B&W vs Dali. Same quality. Different sound. You wont miss anything on either. But prefer either the one or the other.
      For example that Jazz Part (I usually am more of an Acoustic, Strum, Picking, Rock, Metal, Blues guy) really shows the Saxophone in a direct but warm and sweet way on the Dali to me. Where on the B&Ws its more in the backround and "thinner".
      The timbre is everything in the end and thats up to taste.
      I love my Mahagony Guitars. Others like their Spruce Tops. (I love both but you know what i mean :)

    Bedroom is a good example where voices are pitched up by the 607's (in octaves). I get it when sound is a bit modified to add warmth or depth etc, but a pitched up voice is crossing a redline, imo. This is unfort. more than a V-curve signature, and not in a good way.
    The Oberons are tonaly much better balanced, which I prefer. Maybe tweaking the trebble a bit, what can be
    done with simple tonecontrol, if needed. The 607 can be tweaked too, however, you can't tweak screwed up voices easily (without a professional parametric equalizer). 😄

    Dali have a better balanced sound. Mid range is very better in Dali.

    B&W sounds amature. Harsh didn't understand the phasing issue on them. Feels like listening from behind the speakers while the Twitters facing you. Lol. Dali is also has soms distortion at 15k. The high hats sounds metalic

    No, I can't be too kind to this small B&W, 607 has nothing similar like its big brother 606, sorry. Dali has hint of bright treble, but far natural mids compared.

    The B&W is more enjoyable except for the crash and burn which it’s crashed and burnt

    607 too many highs, too sharp, metallic sounded.
    Dali better tonality, well balanced, but too 2D imaging, closed sounding

    I'm Mr Grumpy today. Not too fond of the Oberon 1s either but if audio gear all sounded more alike than different where would we be ? Audio communists matbe LOL.

    Wow didnt realize how much b&w changed. Many people write about the v shape response of the newer 600 series and being bright. Seems they are right.
    I have a pair of old 685 s1 that are totally the opposite of the todays 600. Full mid and sweet highs. Sad to see b&w choses the more commercial way

    B&W are too "sandy" for my taste, but these are just my ears, not yours ofc. so good luck everyone with finding best speakers for you.

    B&w počuť že sa jedná o malé reproduktory, malé skrinky, ktoré sú všeobecne takmer nepoužiteľné pre hi-fi, rovnako aj dali spektor 1 je príliš malý a produkuje tiež podobné deformácie zvuku. Dali oberon 1 hrá ako veľká sústava kde nepočujeme repro ale hudbu. Chýba už len Subwoofer , pretože stredy má vynikajúce.

    Neither are listenable for long. The B&W's are too shrill in the highs, and the Dali's are way too colored in the mids.

    Oberon 1 have a good potential, but the crossovers in them are not only of 2nd order, but for some reason are made of the WORST componrnts, possible to find in the modern Hi-Fi loudspeaker industry 🤷🏻‍♂️ It has been proven, that components, drastically, affect the soud quality, and heaply made components produce ceap sound. Oberon 1 have a desent cabinet and drivers. They also look fine, but did they really have to SEVE those few $$$ on crossovers, just to KILL the potentially good sound ❓‼🤔
