I see this as a reminder to have something with you at all times. You are not always "camping" and prepared with your appropriate gear!!! Great presentation to let people know of available products for "redundant" or emergency fire making. Not all people are aware of "old school" methods. i.e.- 1) "Bic" lighter (carry at least 2 on your person and 2 in your pack). I carry one everyday. They will spark ~5000 times and will do the same as this when "empty". "Tie wrap" the valve to prevent leaking. They will last for years. 2) As shown, Vaseline and cotton/TP/Cloth. 3) "Fatwood" stick. 4) Ferro rods (at least 2). Well done
I just ordered this one. Looks perfect for a DIY permanent match (sillica wick never burns up, and is sold at vape shops). Then i can just bring a small 5ml dropper bottle of fuel for alcohol stoves, which will allow me to choose between lighting the match, or add a couple of drops of fuel to a dry leaf or something, which should then light up pretty easily 👍
Replace your Zippo cotton with REAL cotton and you have the same thing as this video with the bonus of having a lighter first, then when the gas runs out take some cotton from the back and spark it. Easy.. if your worried about water use a bike tube around the Zippo. The Zippo has more capacity also.. enough said.
I use the nanospark to light my msr pocket rocket 2 stove when I use it. It fits in the stove’s case with the stove in it. I love it. It will also fit in the exotac match cap xl with a few storm matches and thin fat wood sticks and have enough room in the cap for some cotton balls and jute twine.
I love your videos! Please keep them coming! I found going gear through your vids, as I live in Marietta Georgia myself! I had no idea that place existed until I watched your video. I can't get enough! And yes, Long live the republic! Thank you, thank you ,thank you!!!
Hi, kid. Great video. Been working on empty quart empty cans from home depot or lowes. for small food storage in caches. I'm using nine of them. one for spices. the other eight for food - dry stuff. Food in a plastic baggie, then can with an oxygen absorber. Pack into a PVC bury tube and bury it with a post hole digger. Digging up test tube four, that I buried about five years ago.
I bought several firestarters and things. I like to show this stuff to my wifes uncle who is big on being prepared. He sees all this, and he says, you could just toss like, 5 bics in there with some dryer lint balls... never looked back.
Lifehack: you can buy two dozen cheap lighters for the price of this device and when they run out of fuel, their spark will be exactly the same as this damn thing.
This and the titanlight will out last 1000 bic lighters, it pays for itself easily. A zippo is definitely a good item but this isn’t a lighter. The titanlight is better quality then a zippo and will hold its fluid for months and months. Something a zippo can’t do. It just depends on the quality and ability you want to have. I like to have all of the above. I have a bic in a Exotac fire sleeve, I have Exotac ferro rods, titanlight and the nanospark, along with their fire pull chords they make excellent quality
The Military version called the Spark Lite Fire Starter is what I carry, along with many various other ways of fire starting in my fire kit too. This little item shown in your video is pretty cool too though.
One could just use a normal zippo and if it's empty, put some tinder into the perforated part... Or get an old school lighter which throws sparks on a fuse (one that doesn't require gasoline).
Haha is it me or is he slowly turning in to Jackie chan?... in all seriousness love the videos both on this channel and sootch. Long live the republic.
Yeah. I don't see why, if you have room for this, you wouldn't have room for a Bic lighter for $.99 that will generate 1,000 fires - instead of just one for $27
@@Francois_Dupont yeah back in ww2 they would use a wire or string to loop through one of the wind guards holes and dip them into the tank for a moment. Somewhat dangerous and wears on the metal but works in an emergency.
That's a great product! Just a correction... I noticed the pack of quickLIGHT tinders you were holding has 12 in it, so I checked their page. It's actually 12 (not 10) quickLIGHT tinders for $7.95, so it's actually a better deal than you stated. Thank you for sharing your review! Nice they are offering a 15% discount to your viewers! LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!
So an expensive way to carry enough stuff to try and light a fire one time. If I already have to carry more stuff I'm going to carry a ferro rod. Tinder zips are a great idea though.
@@tikkidaddy LMAO after 2 years and thanks for your input . The Zippo brand Emergency Fire Kit is better than what is shown in this video and a plain Zippo lighter is as well . Both are less expensive . Have a great year Mark .

Hey sootch can you do a review on 511 COVERT KHAKI 2.0 PANTs I know reviewing pants but there's not one single good review on it online I'm thinking of buying a pair but I never seem to get good reviews on it or need more info but can't seem to get none.
If you're in Minnesota and it's 20 below zero, you have maybe 30 seconds without gloves before you can't feel your fingers. Peeling those tiny cords apart isn't going to work. Stick with the cotton/Vaseline balls.
Thank you sootch. I was just wanting to know if I should purchase it to put in my bug out Bag. Will you also checkout my other channel survival boys. We are a channel in the making. If you will please subscribe.

I'm trying to reach out to you. I've been subscribed to both channels for many years. You do great Survival/Gun reviews and have excellent Prepping advice. I've watched dozens of Glock cleaning videos but yours is the best I've seen. With that said I would like some advice on what to use for a gun cleaning kit storage container that I'm putting together. Instead of buying an already made kit I'd like to build my own. I was thinking either with fishing tackle box or maybe a 50 Cal ammo box. Any suggestions or better storage solutions?
I love Zippos - EXCEPT that the fuel will evaporate in about a week, which makes them kinda useless for me who only need it every once in a while. And if you use the striker/flint with a dry wick, then the wick will start to glow and burn up... If you keep a "permanent match" in the compartment of the nanospark, you can bring a small 5ml dropper bottle of fuel for alcohol stoves or gasoline or whatever, which gives you the option of using this fuel with the permanent match, or you could add a few drops to some dry leaf, and light this directly with the nanospark.
JEIIIP68 I bought a zippo and an insert replacement that has a gas tank and produces a blue flame which can ignite stuff even in strong wind or turned on its head. The spare zippo insert can do exactly the same job as seen in the video...
jezjez of course it works, but I will not put that kind of money into something I already have. But I am sure the gadget preppers will love the striker and show it to anyone that care to look at it.
I feel Exotac did a great job with this system overall and the fact they added a capsule system is great

Unless you have dog hair in your dryer lint trap, or a lot of synthetic fabric. 😂then you need a ferro!
Are the flints standard zippo size? Cool tool.
So you can carry this, or carry a lighter that's ran out of fluid. How revolutionary 😄
