Have loved listening to these as I’ve picked my own horn back up after a while not playing. Very inspirational. It really is just the gold standard of everything. The CONTROL! The PHRASING! Just incredible.
But what everyone is waiting with baited breath to see is: is this mad genius really gonna do the Parsifal excerpt a whole step up?????

Another thing I’m noticing is that despite his rhythm being perfect, every recap after a slow middle section (forgive my amateurish vocabulary) feels more urgent, agitato, as if it’s faster than the beginning statement, but it almost never is. It’s just because he has such mastery over the whole STRUCTURE of the etude he can push and pull and stretch and make it FEEL more urgent without being faster.

DavidReadsASoIaF spot-on. His goal is to create a feeling, as music was mastered some time ago!

You can really hear “Solo de Concours” in this etude.

Love this performance - very musical style shifts and rhythmic emphasis has me completely rethinking my approach to this etude :) Thank you, Håkan!

hearing all of these done on a c trumpet makes me want to hear solo de concours on c as well.

I think Solo de Concours (actually, both of them) in C & on C would be awesome. The 2nd Solo lays well on C except for just one or two low notes, if you're transposing the Bb part.

Nice. Very bold. An etude performance worthy of Saturday at Orchestra hall.
I am friends with some of the freelance players here in Detroit, and these performances have opened up discussions on etude style, C trumpets, dynamic range etc.
The trumpet needs more unaccompanied repertoire and you are pulling it off!
Other instrumentalists use etudes why not trumpeters.

MUSICALITY PERSONIFIED...HAKAN ONCE AGAIN TAKES AN 'ETUDE' AND SHOWS US THE VALUE OF CAREFUL ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND PHRASING...AS A RESULT, HE MAKES IT SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST TRYING TO GET A LITTLE GOLD STAR OR CHECK MARK FROM YOUR TEACHER...KIDS, PAY ATTENTION TO HIS EXCELLENCE...YOU CANNOT BE LIKE HAKAN WITHOUT PASSING THROUGH THE MUSICAL WONDERS OF CHARLIER...(really wish I could say that more loudly...but I think my screams have made the down thumbs disappear...good, I dare them to try and criticize this world class offering...I will have my water cannon ready for even the slightest flicker of a flame...)
