That Deceleration noise is the engine running lean ... Some guys like this noise but it is actually the tell tail sign that your engine is not running well and is in need of back pressure and or a tune program. Lean engines run hot. This is bad for the exhaust valves, Heads and rings.
thank you for the informative response! would a flash map (i.e. fp3 autotunes from vance and hines) fix the problem? I want to get it dyno tuned eventually lol thanks again and thanks for watching!!
Unfortunately, a tune for open pipes with no baffles will run like crap on the street unless you are blasting it at wide open throttle..... A four stroke gasoline engine is designed to run on back pressure. A baffle makes back pressure. The only way a 4 stroke gas engine runs good with low back pressure is with a lot of fuel at wide open throttle. Like a drag race engine for example.
I worked at a shop for a few years, and when we'd install after market pipes, we'd remove the baffles right away. After a few hundred Km's we'd have the customer come back in and we'd install the baffles. They don't "rust" in, they carbon fuse with heat.
@@ConnorFXDB thanks for the vid brotha just started one side listnight would do the next one today after work. NAIBORS gonna rally hate me sence its my daily to work.
@@CesarHuert1915 haha probably out of jealousy! I remember I messed up during this and put the wrong O2 sensor in the wrong place and had to reset them the right way cheers!
@@ConnorFXDB yeah i actu ally took it off while installed on the bike. haha kind of more uncomftruble with heat shields on bt got the first one and left the other one for today sence their is rain down here in houston. thankz bud.
bikeboy0012 I just don't think I'm a fan of too much decel popping. Ya man I wanna switch my exhaust to a 2-1!! Add a fairing and a chain conversion kit and I'll be golden!! Thanks for watching!!
I HIGHLY recommend the Thunder Monster Baffles if you want that straight pipe sound but some back pressure to help with torque. That's what I run in mine and love it... :) Keep those vids coming man!!
Harley Dave appreciate it Dave! I ended up ordering quiet baffles to help with the back pressure. But I'm gonna end up going with a whole new system after all. Pulled the trigger black Friday for a new exhaust! Thanks for watching!
520 Bummer yes exactly. Paint pen from Harley - like $8-10 bucks and an hour or two of your time. It def does look pretty cool! Like white wallin on a budget lmao My buddy Shane also painted his tire logo along with the HD. Came out pretty sick also
Cheers Johnny and thank you for watching! Apologies for the tardy reply. LOL tractor life! Def dont recommend removing the baffles. It was nice seeing just what happened and how it sounded but shortly after I realized I was not a fan of no baffles haha
yeah. changed my name to themotormichael. Too many Mike Patton fans tagging me in photos. I need some bar end mirrors and some new grips. The stock mirrors look way too dorky. Who wants to look dorky on a motorcycle? Not this guy!
Mike Patton hahah defeats the purpose of a motorcycle. Motorcycles are coooool. Ya I noticed that little while back. At first I was like ??? Who dis??? But put two and two together shortly after lol
You f-ing crack me up man. Diggin the no baffles. Not digging how you lose your whole rear seat with that sissy. I was going to get one, but need it for passenger. Thanks for another great vid!
xbeautifuldiscordx thanks!! Lol this whole baffle removal wa def a journey lol headache after headache but it's finally done! I'm still unsure how I feel on the no baffles sound Thanks for watching brutha!!
ConnorFXDB My 20" from tophand (bowman) is supposed to arrive today. Can't wait to put it on. Also, if you haven't yet, take it around the block with no helmet to deaden the real sound when you let off the throttle. My Freedom Performance pops a bit on decel (gotta make some time to work that out with my power vision) but I personally don't mind it, especially hearing it with unmuffled ears!
hahahaha hey Jesse! Thanks for watching! lol story of my bike. nothing is as easy as I think it is. Esp the easier jobs they always tend being the most complicated cuz something randomly comes up or breaks lmao Cheers from Texas!
Buddy I’m a certified Harley mechanic ,, and your gonna want to put the baffles back in weather it be a after market one or a V&H one because you are killing your mid range power where you spend most of your time.. if it was on a dyno you could see on the graph what I mean... plus you open yourself up to other issues such as “Reversion “ not enough room here to explain it properly so ask your dealer about it they will explain it to you ..so use nut and bolts or stainless rivets and get them baffles back in there .. those pipes just way to short to run without.. without making substantial performance loss... just some friendly advice buddy ...
PhatboyHD88 what is upppp!!!!! Thank you for the detailed response! Lol ya dude after running em for a bit I clearly knew what everyone meant haha I ended up putting the baffles back in after a little while. It sounded cool but the power loss and decal pop were terrible so I threw em back in
I like the sound on acceleration...but deceleration and the popping would drive me nuts. Sounds like the bike is sucking wind.... That said well done Brother!
Josh Koontz what's up Josh! Huge thanks on watching and supporting the channel! Much appreciated! 🍻 The sissy bar is the "lady catcher" sissy bar from Lords of Gastown
Bro the main issue about removing the baffles is running engine to lean. There is a chance that you can loose the exhaust vales burning them to hot. Pipes sound great without them though. Congratulations on getting your scooter back on the road.
KnuckleUpFightClub thanks for the info! Didn't know that! I ended up ordering quiet baffles from Vance and Hines in the end. Get little bit more back pressure and from what I've read the only time they are really all that quiet is at idle. Figured what the hell, why not Thanks for watching!!
KnuckleUpFightClub where did you pick up your RR3. That's the one I'm lookin at! Was hopin there would be a Black Friday deal somewhere but have yet to see one lol
I dig your vid man. Enjoyable, but as you freely admit..., You don't know what your talking about. I got shortshots, love. Checking out this video cuz I curious about taking them out. DarkKustoms makes a device called tti ya can install for back psi.
Howdy Jeffrey! Thank you for your comment and for your feedback! Truly appreciated. And yes sir! I was not aware they made those! cheers! Had I decided to keep the short shots I would have def looked into those. My apologies for the tardy reply
james frascati lol oh ya! Esp the decels. Now I know no baffles is not for me! Waiting on my new exhaust to come in and gonna throw those suckers on! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Thanks for watching!!

did you paint your tires with a paint pen or was it like that when you bought it? i like the look.

I love a bit of decel exhaust!!!
yes! Some decel is most definitely enjoyable! but the decel noise it made wasnt hahaha appreciate the support thank you for watching!
I have the Dyna low s model, I'm running a thunder header and a fuel pack and I love the results
james frascati my buddy has a Lowrider with the same thunderheader set up and it sounds freakin wicked!!!
I love this stuff. I love learning about my bike. I just changed over my handle bars on the ol' kz750.
Mike Patton for sure! Def makes owning a bike that much more awesome!
