    Wow. And to think that I've slaved over this concept in my book, yet you make it more comprehensive in under 10 minutes than 20 pages of small type. Thank you!!

    Isn't 3% more sodium than .09, or the .45..am just confused why we would give 3% for someone who has swollen cells.. will that make the sodium cone out of the cell? Am new to nursing and this is very confusing

    • @FrogRN09
      @FrogRN09 ปีที่แล้ว

      The goal with 3% is for the FLUID to come out of the cell. Because we're making the blood more concentrated with the 3% saline, the fluid will shift towards the blood and away from the cells.
      The fluid shifts are much more significant than any sodium shifts (and faster)!

    When you say “there is more stuff than there is in the blood plasma. Do you mean there’s more stuff outside the cell than inside the cell…??

    • @FrogRN09
      @FrogRN09 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is comparing the blood plasma to the fluid itself. If it has more, then by giving it to the patient, the blood will then have more than it did before, and therefore yes, more outside the cell than inside.
