Thank you for your instruction on this. After watching videos of myself it was blatantly obvious that my problem was I have way to much depth in my backswing and I get stuck causing massive pushes or duck hooks. Been doing your feel drill of “sliding” my arm up my chest and I have been hitting some of my purest strikes in a long time.
I've struggled with an inside out swing for many years. Sliding the left arm up my chest on the backswing has me hitting 70% of fairways and GIR have increased dramatically. Can't tell you how thankful I am for this tip.
Awesome J ! I have no words to thank you for showing me what was my problem with the rotation and that simple way to correct it. I can't believe I went through 4 golf teachers and none of them knew about this. Sad I live far away from you, you are a great teacher with great drillls. Thank very much!!!.
Great video. I am taking golf lessons at 29 after playing baseball my entire life. This is the best (if not the only) video that explains how to fix this (apparently unique) swing issue. Going to give the left arm sliding up the chest a try in a few days when I have my practice to hopefully get a more neutral path to the ball!
Awesome video. Recently fixed a slice and then started to hook it due to the new path. 3rd drill instantly changed it back to straight/draw. Thank you.
I can not believe how simple that first tip/thought was i compared my swing before and after and wow thank you. instantly on plane with almost no effort
Wow, that allignment stick-drill was an eye opener. Halved my insdie to out (15 to 7-8😅). But i have never striked the ball so solid as i do after trying this drill. Thank you!
This is the best swing advice I've ever been given. Im exclusively only taking golf instruction from people wearing old Wu Tang hoodies from now on. #ProtectYaNeck #SlideUpYaChest
3 reasons why your swing path is too in-to-out 1. Backswing top is too low -> keep your left arm up across your chest at the backswing top 2. Not enough rotation at the downswing -> turn your head towards the ball destination 3. Left arm dropped vertically too much at the downswing -> put a stick in your right armpit to guide your left arm position; stick drill
I struggle with pulling down - I’ve experimented with your stick drill and love it. I feel like I’m leaving my hands up and letting my pivot / rotation bring them down. What do you “feel” when you do that drill with the stick?
Great video. But i can't seem to work out if my problem is 2 or 3. I am definitely steep, so could be 3. Anyway, both seem to be linked to upper body rotation, so will work on that. Thanks
Hi @jchowngolf I struggle with all of these. I can play with the overdraw but I’d prefer not to. But anytime I try to apply these changes, my swing becomes completely unplayable, so it’s easier to revert back to bad habits. Any ideas that you can offer that would help me adopt changes better?
I’d like to do virtual lessons with you. I have a golf simulator as well with Doppler radar technology. Let me know if we can arrange some Zoom sessions.
I hit it best down, under, and through. Perfect swing thoughts for me. Down will help you not be too shallow. Under will drop the shoulder, creating right side bend. And, through will make you rotate through impact to a good finish, so you won’t early release the face. Works for me…. Hope this helps someone.

This feeling helps me hit straighter shots but it kills my distance.

Number 3 is what I constantly struggle with . Thanks for the drill and Happy New Year 👍
My pleasure Richard! Happy new year to you too!
Amazing, should have looked at this video 25 years ago, what I have been doing all my life
Whenever my swing starts drifting away, your videos address the issue quickly and effectively. Thanks!
J, amazing how you can go right back to your old flip swing, enjoying your videos and are sharing with everyone in Los Angeles!
Thanks man, pulling straight down was my issue!

The only feel I have whilst doing the drill is keeping the lead arm in contact with the stick. Other than that practically nothing
This is exactly my swing. I'm so far instead I can hook a 2x4. I'm going to try these drills for sure
Great vid, thanks - love your channel, cheers, S
alignment stick drill is a great one. cheers
Would you say that this can apply to a driver swing as well?
great vid! tip#3 is dead on for me being stuck under w this FOREVER push draw of mine that i HATE and cant seem to shake off
Really enjoy your content John. Would you say a 5 to 7 degrees inside to out is too much?
😁👍
Happy New year to you and your family.
To you too Milorad!

My delivery on track man is 16 degrees. I used to be -8 I can’t hit a slice if I try now.
Great video

What are your thoughts about how Matt world or Victor take it steep and then bring it back inside and smash it

If that doesn’t negatively effect swing direction and radius then go for it 🤙🏻
I do all of these🤷🤷
Is this why i sometimes feel my hands lock in downswing and then seem to hit a low shot that starts straight then hooks?
Yes
number 2 is what I struggle with
