This song talks about humanity and the proverb South Africans use for humanity that says umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu which means I am therefore we are...I am who I am because we are one.

"We are one" as Angelique Kijo sang. I am a Rwandan, live in Rwanda, love Rwanda, love Africa. I regularly listen to African music and came to observe that our languages are more close that we think! "Umuntu Ngumuntu" is translated "A human being is a Human being or A man is a Man." It is similar to our Kinyarwanda: "Umuntu ni Umuntu" is translated "A human being is a Human being or a Man is a Man"...
I also listened to Asimbonanga by Johnny Clegg. "Asimbonga Mandela thina..." translated "I did not see or have not seen Mandela..." Guys, do you know how to say that in Kinyarwanda? "Simbona Mandela" (in present tense) or "Sinabonye Mandela" (past tense).
Thank you Almighty God that you created us in your image, made us one. "We are One"

It reminds of my late elder brother who also loved this music when I was just a tenager; Mahlathini was really a great man, his songs of the 60's are still up-to-date for those who really love music . Hope the young ones really follow the footsteps of Mahlathini and the Queens.

Zulu; umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu. umuntu = person, ngabantu = people. Thus meaning; a person is a person through other people. It is a Zulu proverb. Motive of the song is, respect other people because we need each other in order to be.
