Something I haven’t seen anyone else point out is when Jaune says “I’ve been alone, for so long. Here, on that bridge.” He never mentally left the bridge. He’s still stuck there and won’t ever be able to leave because of what he had to do
My favorite part of this volume by far is Ruby’s “Shut. Up.” There’s so much said in just those two words. This entire show has been Ruby getting beaten down by life and everyone taking advantage of the fact that she always bounces back, not realizing that there’s gonna be a time where she can’t, and Weiss turning to Ruby to back her up after the Village flooded, RIGHT AFTER Ruby was nearly eaten because she was too in shock to fight, is the perfect example of this. This was not the time for Blake to try a pep talk, this was the time to give Ruby the fucking floor and let her say everything she needs to say and talk with her through those feelings. A generic “I know things look bad-“ speech was the last thing she needed here Lindsay and Miles knocked it out of the park with their voice acting here. Chills
agreed but thats how Blake learned to cope...from Ruby. When things get bad, someone makes a speech or gets people talking. This was V1 Ruby trying to talk to V9 Ruby and that backfired of course

It’s such a complicated thing. Because every time they did try to ask “hey, you good” Ruby shut them out or something interrupted them. That’s not even taking into consideration that they’re all so focus on trying to leave the Ever After. It’s all just a really big mess. Ruby’s completely valid in her feelings, this has been building for such a long time, but it’s still so hard to see her yelling at her team. Even if all of us have been waiting forever for this breaking point. And Blake, who has really been taking charge this volume, has been basically copying what she told Ruby she admired in her last volume: her perseverance and optimism. And now, to have Ruby basically telling that old version of her (the version that Blake is embodying) to shut up. To just… don’t. I can’t say this enough this volume but YIKES. And Jaune… oh boy. That’s another messy issue. This dude has always had a hero complex, like Ruby in some ways. “I’m tired of being the idiot stuck in the tree, I want to be the hero” to paraphrase his speech in V1. But now, mixed with all his trauma, it’s gotten to a point where he’s interfering with the Afterans’ way of life, based on incomplete information and his own assumptions/biases. On the plus side… the Bees are more in sync than ever and that fight choreo was super smooth. Again, I’m sure you know this, but the song that played was called Trapdoor and it’s definitely a Ruby song.
To add on to what you are saying about complicated. Ruby’s trauma wasn’t on the surface so the team didn’t see anything wrong until very late. Jaune’s was very much visible which made everyone decide to help him. This however was a bad choice since the group unintentionally told Ruby that her problem weren’t important now and should be left for later( or in other words never acknowledged again) . Man just think about it makes me worry for the next episodes
And yet... the Ever After has seen Ruby's trauma from the beginning. The constant rainstorms early in the volume; the toy soldiers recognizing it means "someone's sad"; Jinxy recognizing she's just about run out of hope; Curious Cat constantly being disturbed by Ruby's behavior, especially when she gave up her mother's sigil; The blacksmith; etc. Ever After is responding to Ruby silently crying out for help, and yet WBY is just willing to take Ruby's "I'm okay" as truth - especially Blake, who has constantly prioritized everything this volume at the expense of Ruby's feelings. It's really messed up.
nope blake interupted ruby in most times and she really did try to do it calmly she did wait for them to speak to her in 3rd episode then she stopped them when cat was talking about salem but blake interupted and now john and paper pleasers completely interupted when yang wanted to speak to her and then herself protected blake instead of ruby only one who wanted to help was waiss and even she waited too long
@@jdoggivjc I don't really agree with this take on Blake's actions at all. She's just trying to stay optimistic and goal oriented while keeping everyone moving forward, just like Ruby always did in previous volumes. None of them are sure what to do in this bizarre world (understandably) so they're just pushing on in hopes things will work out. Ruby's feelings are entirely valid ofc but none of the girls were /deliberately/ ignoring her issues. They're just simply ill-equipped to handle deep-seated trauma and mental health problems. Which makes sense for a group of not very well-adjusted teenagers.
I mean...from a human perspective (jaune)that's no different than a religion that practices ritual suicide. Your memory and personality, identity, are what make you who you are if you're recycled into something new without those aspects or a major portion of them missing, than for all intents and purposes you're committing suicide.

Ruby has an issue with trauma and Loss. She never deals with them, pushing through it and pushing it down, thinking that would take care of it...but she never deals with thoose feelings until they fester into Guilt and feeling like she's "Not enough" or she vents at the wrong People. Best example : In V8, when Ruby and Yang talk about what the Hound was, Yang breaks down crying...Ruby just rambles on and on like a news caster, 100% emotionaly detached (Other examples : The fall of Beacon, Summer, Yangs Arm, Pyrrah, Penny, Atlas...the list goes on and she NEVER dealt with any of it, ignoring yang when she asked "are you okay?")..so yeah that Kid needs therapy
Bro I don't know if this was said, but hear Jaune say "It's all about you" reminded me of Volume 1 when Ruby told Jaune that it's not about him anymore. Crazy parallels they did with this.
Aside from the obvious reasons for why Ruby’s comment abt Jaune’s “make-believe friends” is so bad, I’ve seen it pointed out that Jaune might not have particularly liked what she said bc it reminded him of Alyx. During his narration, he says that she was selfish and didn’t rlly see this world as real and during the fight, you can actually see that Jaune notices Ruby just standing around not helping. And so, he immediately assumes she just didn’t want to help them. Even when they start talking about Neo and he says that she didn’t get stronger by standing around, it’s obvious he’s more so referring to Ruby. Though what she said was uncalled for, you can see where she’s coming from. Some of Jaune’s responses when he was talking abt them rlly did suggest that they weren’t necessarily his friends. (Not saying that they weren’t important to him but that they weren’t his “friends” more so than replacements for his real friends) In order for him to move forward, it was necessary for him to let them go and I would assume that we will be running into them briefly in future episodes and that’ll help him cope better.
i was so happy when she finally snapped because there’s been a pattern where they continue to look to ruby for answers and blame her when it all falls apart. i’m sure you already caught this but the plan for atlas was everyone’s plan ruby only suggested using the staff but she was def out of it after seeing the hound.
Dude it’s hurts so much to see Ruby and Jaune this way, especially since they were the LEADERS. And besides Pyrrha they were the only ones on their teams that ALWAYS wanted to be huntsmen. Ruby beleived with enough trust and positivity everything would be alright, be it wasn’t. Jaune beleived that if he could just get stronger he’d be like his father and grandfather saving the day, be he isn’t. It hurts even more remembering the leader talk Jaune and Ruby had season 1 - about how now that they’re leaders they’re not allowed to be failure cause they’ll bring everyone else down with them, that it’s not just them anymore. And that mentality can take such a toll. And come to think of it Jaune and Rubys assurance in who they wanted to be is what held everyone together when everyone else was trying to figure out themselves, but there always comes a point where even the most assured are going to need help too. That explains why no one could really figure out just how much those two needed help till now. In summary, O W W.

18:25 Alright. Imagine for a moment one of your friends is “ascended”. From what we know, all of their memories are erased and they are no longer the same on even a personality basis. Who are they to you now? The quick answer is that they aren’t the same friend anymore. You are a stranger to them. If that wasn’t enough, Jaune has been living with the trauma of helping Penny commit unalive and he has been alone with no one who can understand it for 10-20 years. There is nobody to talk with about this. Then, he failed again to save Lewis and was left to die by Alyx. He has been using the paper pleasers as a coping mechanism and letting them commit unalive too would only agitate his trauma more. It makes sense he wouldn’t let them off themselves like he helped Penny do. Imagine that.
My theory about Alyx and Lewis is that Alyx tried to sacrifice Lewis to the tree, but the tree took alyx instead, because it doesn't want someone who's not willing to go to it. So lewis was the one who got back to remnant, and he wrote The Girl Who Fell Through The World as a way to remember his sister before she went bad. After all, he's named after Lewis Carroll, who wrote Alice In Wonderland.

Remember as far as we know they are in the afterlife. And the Tree gives you a new purpose. Jaune has a loyal steed named Juniper. What if it used to be named Pyrrha?
Here's how I interpret the tree/ascension. The tree is synonymous with change. The cat is synonymous with the status quo. Every acre has their own people in it with their own roles. The cat is there to make sure they keep performing their roles. The cat "gives them his heart" to keep doing what they were. If they're too far gone (like the Red King or The Herbalist) then they get sent to the tree to ascend. To change. However, for Afterans, this wipes their memories for the most part, which is why Jaune says it's manipulation or death. There's still a little bit of them left over though as the cat says "the heart rarely forgets". We see this as the red prince (eventually) remembers his defeat at losing to Alyx, who cheated at his game to win. He was inconsolable and at that point wanted to win at any cost. The cat came and tried to make him stay but he was too far gone. He was sent to the tree to change. To ascend. To be the thing you wanted to be when you were still you. For the red king, to win at any cost. For the paper pleasers, to be and make something sturdier. This gets confusing though once people from remnant come to the ever after. I don't think the cat can affect their hearts, but the tree can. If someone wishes to change what they are, they've lost who they are, or lost something integral to who they are, the tree will come to them, as seen with Ruby and the Blacksmith. Ruby had lost her way, lost her weapon, and didn't know who she was. As such, the tree came to her. The blacksmith gave her a choice to change and Ruby refused it. As such, the tree (the Blacksmith) let her go, with and offer to come back and change if she wished. The choice to change seems like a purely remnant-bound ability. For all the other Afterans, it's not really a choice. If the cat can't convince you to stay, you go to the tree. I don't know what happened to Alyx or Luis. I have my theories but none are too solid to say in this long rant. However, I think team RWBY will have to go to the tree, and Ascend. Not to change, but to go to back to Remnant. The descended to get here after all. They'll have to ascend to get back.
I can not say how much I love Ruby's mental break. Ruby was valid in everything she said "No time right?" Every time she has shown signs of not being ok, they have either ignored her (in some cases kinda berated her for not doing stuff because of it) Gotten cut off by something else happening, or other things took priority. MMN "Maybe even get our feelings sorted out, good for you by the way we're all SO HAPPY FOR YOU" that moment when you care more about confirming your already basically confirmed relationship rather than getting out of the everafter or about ruby's trauma. Just mmmmmm Ruby's lines there hit different "ARE WE SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT JAUNE'S IMAGINARY FRIENDS" See now there, that was Ruby in the wrong for once, just because they don't look like us dosen't mean they are anymore real. I can get behind jaune especially with what he says next. But Weiss looking to Ruby to say some words about them after she almost GOT EATEN and was obviously frozen and scared that whole fight. oof. Then jaune's part also, Jaune's rant was valid to, they're in the everafter because of what Ruby did to ironwood because of her plan that didn't work. Neo hates Ruby and that's why she's doing all of this, and yes this is all her fault. Both sides are right in these rants and I love it so muchhhh
If they kill off Ruby they could always rename the show "Trama." Jaune saying "he's late" like the rabbit and my brain realizing the Pumpkinpete shirt... he was the Rabbit the whole time! i think its because she's usijg calmness to activate her semblance instead of pure anger. she saves the energy she got hit with and when she's angry she lets it all out, but here she is just using a part of it
My personal "reach" is wondering if Louis was one of Ozpin's incarnations, which would explain why he overlooked Jaune cheating his way into Beacon. Louis never met any of the other characters, but he did meet "The Rusted Knight".
I seriously just hope Jaune doesn't die or doesn't turn into a villain, because he's just tired and he went through so much without any help and all alone, I just want him to be okay, it breaks my heart beyond measure.

God, this fight is so complicated because there is no true right or wrong side. They're all dealing with their own very complicated traumas and trying to do the best they can. Also, because I've seen a lot of people saying this, Yang stepping in front of Blake and saying "Hey!" isn't her "protecting" Blake. Well, kind of. She's stepping into her role as big sister/mother figure. She's telling Ruby that she crossed a line - which she did. Ruby's pain and her trauma is incredibly valid, but she was also wrong to make those digs at her teammates. But that's what people do when they're hurting and when it still hasn't been fully processed, they lash out at the petty stuff. Yang knows this. She's not mad, she wants Ruby to realize what she's saying and how hurtful she's being, because she knows that Ruby will regret it. She's not prioritizing Blake over her sister, she's trying to help both of them. Everyone's trauma and pain just collided at the exact wrong time. But none of them are bad people or irredeemable because of this fight - and that's the point.
White hair doesn't only come with age. It comes from stress too. Jaune's been so lonely to the point he had to name things after all the people he knew just so he'd have some form of comfort and to never forget them. To never forget his home. Being a leader and having the capability to protect others and not lose them like he did in Remnant really made an impact. Ruby's got her own internal battles too and it was nice to see her finally snap too. Very interested in seeing where both our leaders head and the kind of growth they'll have. Also, that's an interesting comparison between Alex and Cinder. But you have to remember, we know Cinder's backstory and why she is the way she is. We don't know how Alex and Luis were raised or even how they fell into the Ever After to begin with. Supposedly afterans only die if they're eaten by a Jabberwalker (according to the Curious Cat), and going to the tree ascends and rebirths them with a new Purpose or way of life. They don't retain their memories of their previous lives. I guess you can kinda think of it like reincarnation.
Ruby was a FEELINGSBOMB that was set to go off back when she heard that Penny was dead. And all volume long there's been an interruption any time someone noticed she's upset and they never come back to it later. So yeah, this was kinda inevitable. Still sucks though.

Ok, here is the thing Rebel, Alyx and Lewis both pre-date Cinder, and Ruby, and everyone by almost a Century. Alyx and Lewis are not Colors (remember in Vol 1 when Ozpin talks about naming people AFTER the Great War). That means they were born before it. Which puts their birth around 90yrs BEFORE Vol 1 starts. Jaune aged about 20 to 30yrs according to CRWBY which means there is roughly a 5 to 1 ration between Remnant and EA. Also, more to your point.. The theory right now is that Alyx was the one who didn't make it back to Remnant and instead was made into the Jabberwalker. Furthermore, we think Lewis got out and wrote the fable as a way to remember his sister and didn't want her to seen so poorly.
Ugggghh, this one HURT! Poor Ruby, finally breaking down, only to have her worst fears reiterated by Jaune. And the WORST PART is that CRWBY has been radio silent on Twitter… gives me a bad feeling for the next episode. 😬 We gotta be strong!
This is truly a messy situation because hurt people, hurt people. They are both right but I think they were personally trying to hurt each others feelings and you can see it worked. Its unfortunate but I think k both Jaune and Rwby had to let that out but how they recover will be interesting. We only have 3 chapters left and with so many issues from trauma, Neo , and trying to get back home I'm wondering how the volume is going to wrap up.

Honestly it hurts, but I hope it continues, the plot and drama is an addicting taste. Oh my sweet deranged boy Jaune, you cant just save them everyday, you have to create solutions. Make the dam sturdier or the rocks to have a guard, guard as in a type of buildings not the paper pleasers. The lanturn that rises shouldnt be a fire hazard. Is it perhaps you need a sense of being needed more then wanting to be a hero? My sweet insane boy Jaune. Oh Ruby, you truly didn't have enough hope to fill that jar. Any time you were about to express yourself, something had to happen. Always on a path that moves forward every if you stand still. How unfair. Everyone gets to take their piece except you. Oh Ruby, if hope won't fill that jar, despair will.
The RWBY Fandom loves to attack the Fandom...the conversations i've had with People that claim Yang "betrayed" Ruby by just taking a STEP...is to damn high. Yang did the right thing, steping in between two loved ones when one of them attacks the other without cause or reason!

I legit see nothing wrong with Yang stepping between Blake and Ruby, since it comes across as a deterrent for more of her throwing barbs while in an emotional state. But the one anti-BB crowd just like with the scene in v8 wants to try to frame it as BB vs. sisters, cause they think its solid ground that doesn't show their homophobia against BB.
@@CrimsonXE While i wouldn't doubt the claim that Homophobes are among the complainers, (of coruse they are) i belive the main issue with BB haters is that modern media rarely shows a good slowburn. Its always drama filled garbage that has to hit hard and be as un subtle as possible to attract viewers and a relationship building over 10 years is so Alien that half of them complains when it gets even the most minute focus and the other half when it doesn't get enough . They just don't know what good storytelling is

Pointing a the "BB has nothing to it" vs "ugh BB is taking all the character moments" to "BB is rushed" vs. "BB is bait cause its taken 10 years" (from before they were canonized thus throwing out bait). Modern media just rarely ever does good solid mature relationship building. Like the scene between Ren and Nora in v8 is a rare thing; like BB's slowburn that includes multiple arcs that aren't "will they/won't they". But about the characters themselves. Menagerie wasn't about will Blake go to Yang to hook up or not; there's an entire other arc there for an easy go-to example. Most "romance" is aligned with teenage crush syndrome that acts like flirting and shallow interactions are the epitome of romance, as well as the only way of showing it building. Emotional development = nah, that's friends; when in reality this is a core element of a long-term mature relationship

I once had someone from the "BB was added due to Fan presure" camp and suddenly he stoped commenting when i pointed out the track "Bmblb" from the V4 OST and the interview from after V9 that reveals the VA's knew the whole time. Theese People do nothing but repear someone elses opinion, never checking if it's true One of the best moments has been the V8 "Do you think she thinks less of me?" moment in which its so clearly shown that, for Yang, thinking about Blake has already become sort of second nature and she didn't even realize that until Jaune mentions Ruby. THIS is subtle writing and we so need more of it I love W/W Storys but i fell in love with Ren and Nora after V8. They seemed to be on the path of "When is the Childhood friend gonna wear him down" but turned out so different and refreshing than an overused cliche, much like the old Anime one that says "The Childhood friend never wins" which i hate

In this way, I would like volume 10 to explore a Ruby who, although she already knows who she is, does not try to be the heroine who will carry all the weight.Also I would like her to be like in the first volumes, it would be incredible if she still had some resentment for a while
I actually thought Lewis was the jabberwalker. That Alyx traded him to the tree to get back home. Or something along those lines at least. As well as Alyx being possibly being Neo. If that were the case I could see that she had regretted her trade and losing torchwick made her extremely upset because another another person who was close to her gone.
In hindsight, I shouldn't have assumed they'd only be in the Ever After for one volume. I thought that about them being split up but that lasted two volumes and they were in Atlas for two volumes as well. I need to stop thinking that major changes like that are going to be limited to a single volume.
So uh....I hate to bring more pain but well, I noticed this when I rewatched this episode. Anyone else noticed that the paper town being flooded was similar to Atlas becoming Atlantis? I'm sure that didn't help Jaune's psyche either. 🤐
13:11 I've read both theories in the comments to other reactors... none of them mentioned Cinder, but they did consider both options of both being sacrificed. I mean, Lewis is named after Lewis Carroll, the writer of Alice in Wonderland. Some people believe that he's the one who made it to Remnant and wrote the story, making Alyx look better than she was and leaving himself out of it as a form of tribute to his sister. Other people think that neither of them made it back, but since Lewis was one of Ozpin's incarnations, he was reborn in Remnant like he always does, and then wrote the story, embellishing it and making his sister not look so bad, just like he did with Lionheart's story in the Mistral newspapers. Other people think that Alyx, since she alludes to Alice in Wonderland, and since her full name was Alice Liddell... became Little. Other people think that Alyx and Lewis were part of the bunch of nobodies that Cinder threw off the bridge (and this is the only time Cinder comes into the theories I've read so far) and then once one of them managed to return to Remnant, they were sent by the tree to Remnant's past, rather than the present, and decided to mess with the story a little so as to not fuck with the timeline.
Haven't seen it in any of the comments, but I think there's a more likely potential candidate for an Alyx ascension. In Alice in Wonderland, her name was Alice Liddel. Which sounds an awful lot like Alyx Little.

So any time Afterans “die,” that IS going “back to the tree,” they don’t need to be physically at the tree to ascend, probably because the tree reaches all over Ever After. If the Walker gets an Ever After they can’t ascend, however, and it’s implied they actually do die for good.** It’s only been said that they can’t ascend. That doesn’t mean they die or are gone for good. Maybe they change….
the fact that Ruby is having cresent rose issues, is a real problem..... She was OBSESSED with her scythe, she made that based off of her uncle, Qrow, who also made his weapon off of maria. Maria was a big sense of hope for Ruby and becoming stronger. Now, after her time here...... I think I THINK the thought is that Ruby also seen something she didn't like when she visited Herb, the herbalist. Just like Alix, and the idea is that Ruby needs to overcome what she went through and get through it, so she doesnt "ascend" or like have to die or change. Another thing I wanted to bring up, Alice in Wonderland was originally written by Lewis Carol. If Alix's Brother's name is Lewis, it makes me think, what if Lewis made it out, he made it to remnant, he WROTE THE BOOK (since the original author was Lewis Carol) and somehow, someway, Alix is the one who was left behind. She became.... something, maybe the jabberwocky..... Maybe Neo. They have a lot of situations where Neo is almost a direct representation of Alix, including the intro. EDIT: i just saw you ponder if ALIX was CINDER, NO WAY man, is the way they show Neo holding her hat in the same pose and then switch to ALIX in the intro, on the beach. She's Neo
First: I think Louis got back home and wrote the story in loving memories of his sister who became the Jabberwaker Second:Both Jaune and Rubes where right. It all happend because Ruby had that plan, they all agreed to btw, and Jaun had to kill Penny, but lets not forgett what Rubes has ben through, she saw Phyra die in front of her eyes, she lost her mom, she lost penny twice, in V1 ozpin told her that she is always a leader so she kept up with it, had to make hard desicions, however,when was the last time someone ask Rubes how she felt and sat down talking about?
There’s a saying (idk who said this) that what breaks is not forever broken, with the right tools it can come together stronger than before. I believe that with the help of Little and her teammates (who finally noticed her emotions) she’ll come out of this stronger than before.
Yep I saw that coming, Ruby finally cracked. I fear what Ruby's gonna do with her weapon when she just took off like that and possibly she might kill Neo out of cold blood we don't know, looking forward to the next episode.

Also some people have pointed out that throughout all the episodes up until this one, you can see how Ruby was trying to deal with her emotions and how Blake , Yang , and Weiss either were oblivious, hypocritical, or flat out ignoring Ruby’s suffering. ( Examples: Ruby mourning over penny’s blade and being ignored, Blake flat out saying we have more pressing issues in herbalist episode, then in this one saying the opposite, leaving Ruby practically alone in the market) All of these things built up to finally the most important pillar supporting her broke. That being Jaune ( close friend/ also a team leader ) blamed Ruby for everything. I honestly don’t know how this will get fixed and I’m scared bro .

My theory is that Alex is Neo. Her demeanor, height, power boost in the ever after, her song (one thing), and her side by side in the intro with Jaune.
I was talking to my mom after watching this chapter, and something I thought about was that in the past Ruby was, not just the kind of friend, but the kind of person to help bring someone up when they were feeling down. We all have someone in our lives who is that person. Those kind of people are really good at keeping there emotions in check or pushing down there feelings for the sake of others, and that's not healthy. Because they are pushing there feelings aside, all of those feelings are building up. So after a while, and this happens to everyone, we burst and all of the emotions come flooding out. That is what Ruby is going through. She has gone through too much and kept in too much to the point where she can't keep a smile, or mask, on anymore. Something else I noticed, in the second episode of the first season I believe. She is talking to Blake about why she wants to become a huntress. She even talks to Ozpin in the first episode about why as well. And she is so sure of what she is saying, and understands what is means to be a huntress. And in the Second season when team RWBY is going on a mission with Professor Oobleck, he talks to the others and their a little unsure of why they want become a huntress, and how to make a difference, or maybe even what a huntress really is. Now in this season you see the roles are flipped Ruby is unsure and the rest of them know exactly what is means to be a huntress. Just something I noticed and found interesting. Sorry for the long comment, wanted to get my opinion out there. What do you think?
I don't think an episode of RWBY hadn't physically hurt me in a while (made me cry oh yes definitely) but the weight on my chest I felt even now re-watching the ep with your reaction is crazy. 😅😢 And knowing we only have 3 chapters left and a long hiatus after is really not fun lol
I like that Jaune didn't just let Ruby grandstand and wished he hadn't backed down from his statement. Ruby can feel as upset as she wants to by all that is happening, but that never gives you the right to dump on others because you are upset. If she needs to talk, she can hold the floor and talk, but that's her responsibility and one that comes with leadership. People are going to always look to you for the example of what to do, right or wrong.

When everyone found out Jaune named the rabbit after his team: 🥺 When everyone found out he named the Paper Pleasers after everybody: 😨 Ruby never wanted to be a leader, she never even wanted to be “the bees’ knees”. She just wanted to be a normal girl with normal knees. She was chosen to be a leader, back when they were all just students. Since then, everyone’s just been turning to her for a plan, to find the way forward, to give the inspiring speech that gets everybody going. However, because she was the one everyone was depending on her, she had no choice but to be dependable and not allow herself to show what she is really thinking or feeling. It’s painful to watch that scene play out, especially at the beginning. There’s Ruby just standing there having a panic attack and nearly getting eaten. And Jaune completely misreading the situation again chews her out for not helping her friends, because it was everyone else who needed help, not the other way around. Ah, but then there’s that one moment where Ruby jumps back from having Crescent Rose thrust at her and suddenly they all see for just a moment there’s something deeply wrong here. And then once again the moment passes, oh look, Jaune’s having another meltdown! Hey Ruby, don’t you have any words of comfort to say for this friend who is clearly unwell? Obviously, this isn’t to detract from what Jaune is going through. It’s just that the first episode Ruby fainted and how quickly was everyone willing to move on and get out of the Ever After? How many signs were there that something was wrong, but everyone got distracted by another thing happening? Then Jaune comes along and HE IS CLEARLY NOT OKAY, so obviously we have to put a pause on everything else and take HIS feelings and wellbeing into consideration. It’s not something they are doing on purpose but it hurts nonetheless and left Ruby feeling like she is unseen and that she doesn’t matter unless she’s fulfilling her role as leader and huntress. The worst part is we’re just scratching the surface here. Most of that outburst was just throwing back the words everyone was tactlessly saying in front of her just earlier that same episode. Jaune once again hijacks the moment. Again, he’s not well, and neither is Ruby, so now they’re both tearing into each other. The difference is that Jaune has been isolated for a long time, while Ruby has had her friends by her side this entire time. Right now, the immediate concern is as what someone else is saying, the Ever After has been responding to Ruby’s true feelings this entire time. We saw it at the Herbalist’s and with the Blacksmith. If Ruby desires change, the Ever After will respond and do its best to accomodate her desires, whether they are healthy or not.

I think Yang wanted to absorb the anger from her sister (or take the brunt of it) because Yang will always forgive her and raised her so she understands how Ruby probably wouldn't mean everything she says while she's breaking down, and Yang can handle Ruby's frustration better then Blake can, which is why I think she stood in front of her.( Not to mention Blake's trauma from Adam who yelled at her a lot.) I don't believe that Yang shielded Blake because she thought Ruby would hurt her but rather to take the first step in trying to diffuse the argument. Thats why she said "hey" so that Ruby wouldn't go too far and say something she can't take back.

About 4:25, your read on it as sarcasm doesn't fit with the way the PP describe Jaune even in confidence: they all call him their hero and never see his actions as wrong, just misguided. It's hard to conceive the pleasers as capable of sarcasm given their purpose

If I may make my own reach, and this is assuming Ruby stays as leader, I can see her becoming colder before she gets better. If you have seen The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes gives his “This isn’t a democracy anymore” speech at the end of the second season. I could see Ruby taking a similar stance. Again, just a reach, but I can see it happening. We’ll see.
I have a maybe overeacted theory but...I remember that Oscar and Ozpin talk about the story of the "Girl who felt into another world." in a previous volume when they were capture by Salem. I wonder if Lewis...was one of the reincarnation of Ozpin, it could maybe explain why Alyx lost his trust after meeting the catterpillar ? So much questions >///
So, maybe it's a plot hole, but... If Jaune needs to be on site at the Paper Pleasers' Village every morning to stop the chain of disasters? What happened the day previous? It's dark out when we first see him at the market, and mid-day when the Ponderstorm sweeps in. That means he had to be away from the village for at least a full day. Did he have someone filling in for him? Who? And if he does, couldn't that person watch the village while Jaune and Team RWBY search nearby Acres for a way home? Again, probably just a plot hole... but something that struck me as odd.
Remember, weather works differently here the same way time is a little wonky. Each acre has a different weather system, regardless of time. For example, the Cat escorted them out of the Crimson Keep's acre when it was bright daylight, but the forest acre was near-pitch black simply by walking across the bridge.
Now that I stop to think about it, it's the first time Remnant people can actually have negative feelings and let them out without fear or guilt of attracting grim.

My favorite part of this volume by far is Ruby’s “Shut. Up.”
There’s so much said in just those two words. This entire show has been Ruby getting beaten down by life and everyone taking advantage of the fact that she always bounces back, not realizing that there’s gonna be a time where she can’t, and Weiss turning to Ruby to back her up after the Village flooded, RIGHT AFTER Ruby was nearly eaten because she was too in shock to fight, is the perfect example of this.
This was not the time for Blake to try a pep talk, this was the time to give Ruby the fucking floor and let her say everything she needs to say and talk with her through those feelings. A generic “I know things look bad-“ speech was the last thing she needed here

OH NO I JUST REMEBERED IN SEASON ONE JAUNE SAID “if I can’t do this on my own then what good am I?” AND NOW HIS WORST FEAR OF BEING THE HELPESS ONE IS FULLY REALIZED LIKE “I was the only one who could do it I was the only one!” BRO STOP THATS A STAB WOUND IN THE HEART
It’s such a complicated thing. Because every time they did try to ask “hey, you good” Ruby shut them out or something interrupted them. That’s not even taking into consideration that they’re all so focus on trying to leave the Ever After. It’s all just a really big mess. Ruby’s completely valid in her feelings, this has been building for such a long time, but it’s still so hard to see her yelling at her team. Even if all of us have been waiting forever for this breaking point.
And Blake, who has really been taking charge this volume, has been basically copying what she told Ruby she admired in her last volume: her perseverance and optimism. And now, to have Ruby basically telling that old version of her (the version that Blake is embodying) to shut up. To just… don’t. I can’t say this enough this volume but YIKES.
And Jaune… oh boy. That’s another messy issue. This dude has always had a hero complex, like Ruby in some ways. “I’m tired of being the idiot stuck in the tree, I want to be the hero” to paraphrase his speech in V1. But now, mixed with all his trauma, it’s gotten to a point where he’s interfering with the Afterans’ way of life, based on incomplete information and his own assumptions/biases.
On the plus side… the Bees are more in sync than ever and that fight choreo was super smooth.
Again, I’m sure you know this, but the song that played was called Trapdoor and it’s definitely a Ruby song.
To add on to what you are saying about complicated. Ruby’s trauma wasn’t on the surface so the team didn’t see anything wrong until very late. Jaune’s was very much visible which made everyone decide to help him. This however was a bad choice since the group unintentionally told Ruby that her problem weren’t important now and should be left for later( or in other words never acknowledged again) . Man just think about it makes me worry for the next episodes
And yet... the Ever After has seen Ruby's trauma from the beginning. The constant rainstorms early in the volume; the toy soldiers recognizing it means "someone's sad"; Jinxy recognizing she's just about run out of hope; Curious Cat constantly being disturbed by Ruby's behavior, especially when she gave up her mother's sigil; The blacksmith; etc. Ever After is responding to Ruby silently crying out for help, and yet WBY is just willing to take Ruby's "I'm okay" as truth - especially Blake, who has constantly prioritized everything this volume at the expense of Ruby's feelings. It's really messed up.

nope blake interupted ruby in most times and she really did try to do it calmly she did wait for them to speak to her in 3rd episode then she stopped them when cat was talking about salem but blake interupted and now john and paper pleasers completely interupted when yang wanted to speak to her and then herself protected blake instead of ruby only one who wanted to help was waiss and even she waited too long
@@jdoggivjc I don't really agree with this take on Blake's actions at all. She's just trying to stay optimistic and goal oriented while keeping everyone moving forward, just like Ruby always did in previous volumes. None of them are sure what to do in this bizarre world (understandably) so they're just pushing on in hopes things will work out. Ruby's feelings are entirely valid ofc but none of the girls were /deliberately/ ignoring her issues. They're just simply ill-equipped to handle deep-seated trauma and mental health problems. Which makes sense for a group of not very well-adjusted teenagers.

Ruby has an issue with trauma and Loss. She never deals with them, pushing through it and pushing it down, thinking that would take care of it...but she never deals with thoose feelings until they fester into Guilt and feeling like she's "Not enough" or she vents at the wrong People. Best example : In V8, when Ruby and Yang talk about what the Hound was, Yang breaks down crying...Ruby just rambles on and on like a news caster, 100% emotionaly detached (Other examples : The fall of Beacon, Summer, Yangs Arm, Pyrrah, Penny, Atlas...the list goes on and she NEVER dealt with any of it, ignoring yang when she asked "are you okay?")..so yeah that Kid needs therapy

Aside from the obvious reasons for why Ruby’s comment abt Jaune’s “make-believe friends” is so bad, I’ve seen it pointed out that Jaune might not have particularly liked what she said bc it reminded him of Alyx. During his narration, he says that she was selfish and didn’t rlly see this world as real and during the fight, you can actually see that Jaune notices Ruby just standing around not helping. And so, he immediately assumes she just didn’t want to help them. Even when they start talking about Neo and he says that she didn’t get stronger by standing around, it’s obvious he’s more so referring to Ruby. Though what she said was uncalled for, you can see where she’s coming from. Some of Jaune’s responses when he was talking abt them rlly did suggest that they weren’t necessarily his friends. (Not saying that they weren’t important to him but that they weren’t his “friends” more so than replacements for his real friends) In order for him to move forward, it was necessary for him to let them go and I would assume that we will be running into them briefly in future episodes and that’ll help him cope better.
i was so happy when she finally snapped because there’s been a pattern where they continue to look to ruby for answers and blame her when it all falls apart. i’m sure you already caught this but the plan for atlas was everyone’s plan ruby only suggested using the staff but she was def out of it after seeing the hound.

Dude it’s hurts so much to see Ruby and Jaune this way, especially since they were the LEADERS. And besides Pyrrha they were the only ones on their teams that ALWAYS wanted to be huntsmen. Ruby beleived with enough trust and positivity everything would be alright, be it wasn’t. Jaune beleived that if he could just get stronger he’d be like his father and grandfather saving the day, be he isn’t.
It hurts even more remembering the leader talk Jaune and Ruby had season 1 - about how now that they’re leaders they’re not allowed to be failure cause they’ll bring everyone else down with them, that it’s not just them anymore. And that mentality can take such a toll. And come to think of it Jaune and Rubys assurance in who they wanted to be is what held everyone together when everyone else was trying to figure out themselves, but there always comes a point where even the most assured are going to need help too. That explains why no one could really figure out just how much those two needed help till now.

If that wasn’t enough, Jaune has been living with the trauma of helping Penny commit unalive and he has been alone with no one who can understand it for 10-20 years. There is nobody to talk with about this. Then, he failed again to save Lewis and was left to die by Alyx. He has been using the paper pleasers as a coping mechanism and letting them commit unalive too would only agitate his trauma more. It makes sense he wouldn’t let them off themselves like he helped Penny do. Imagine that.
My theory about Alyx and Lewis is that Alyx tried to sacrifice Lewis to the tree, but the tree took alyx instead, because it doesn't want someone who's not willing to go to it. So lewis was the one who got back to remnant, and he wrote The Girl Who Fell Through The World as a way to remember his sister before she went bad. After all, he's named after Lewis Carroll, who wrote Alice In Wonderland.

Here's how I interpret the tree/ascension.
The tree is synonymous with change. The cat is synonymous with the status quo. Every acre has their own people in it with their own roles. The cat is there to make sure they keep performing their roles. The cat "gives them his heart" to keep doing what they were. If they're too far gone (like the Red King or The Herbalist) then they get sent to the tree to ascend. To change. However, for Afterans, this wipes their memories for the most part, which is why Jaune says it's manipulation or death. There's still a little bit of them left over though as the cat says "the heart rarely forgets". We see this as the red prince (eventually) remembers his defeat at losing to Alyx, who cheated at his game to win. He was inconsolable and at that point wanted to win at any cost. The cat came and tried to make him stay but he was too far gone. He was sent to the tree to change. To ascend. To be the thing you wanted to be when you were still you. For the red king, to win at any cost. For the paper pleasers, to be and make something sturdier.
This gets confusing though once people from remnant come to the ever after. I don't think the cat can affect their hearts, but the tree can. If someone wishes to change what they are, they've lost who they are, or lost something integral to who they are, the tree will come to them, as seen with Ruby and the Blacksmith. Ruby had lost her way, lost her weapon, and didn't know who she was. As such, the tree came to her. The blacksmith gave her a choice to change and Ruby refused it. As such, the tree (the Blacksmith) let her go, with and offer to come back and change if she wished. The choice to change seems like a purely remnant-bound ability. For all the other Afterans, it's not really a choice. If the cat can't convince you to stay, you go to the tree. I don't know what happened to Alyx or Luis. I have my theories but none are too solid to say in this long rant. However, I think team RWBY will have to go to the tree, and Ascend. Not to change, but to go to back to Remnant. The descended to get here after all. They'll have to ascend to get back.
I can not say how much I love Ruby's mental break. Ruby was valid in everything she said

God, this fight is so complicated because there is no true right or wrong side. They're all dealing with their own very complicated traumas and trying to do the best they can.
Also, because I've seen a lot of people saying this, Yang stepping in front of Blake and saying "Hey!" isn't her "protecting" Blake. Well, kind of. She's stepping into her role as big sister/mother figure. She's telling Ruby that she crossed a line - which she did. Ruby's pain and her trauma is incredibly valid, but she was also wrong to make those digs at her teammates. But that's what people do when they're hurting and when it still hasn't been fully processed, they lash out at the petty stuff. Yang knows this. She's not mad, she wants Ruby to realize what she's saying and how hurtful she's being, because she knows that Ruby will regret it. She's not prioritizing Blake over her sister, she's trying to help both of them.
Everyone's trauma and pain just collided at the exact wrong time. But none of them are bad people or irredeemable because of this fight - and that's the point.
White hair doesn't only come with age. It comes from stress too. Jaune's been so lonely to the point he had to name things after all the people he knew just so he'd have some form of comfort and to never forget them. To never forget his home. Being a leader and having the capability to protect others and not lose them like he did in Remnant really made an impact. Ruby's got her own internal battles too and it was nice to see her finally snap too. Very interested in seeing where both our leaders head and the kind of growth they'll have.
Also, that's an interesting comparison between Alex and Cinder. But you have to remember, we know Cinder's backstory and why she is the way she is. We don't know how Alex and Luis were raised or even how they fell into the Ever After to begin with.
Supposedly afterans only die if they're eaten by a Jabberwalker (according to the Curious Cat), and going to the tree ascends and rebirths them with a new Purpose or way of life. They don't retain their memories of their previous lives. I guess you can kinda think of it like reincarnation.
If a afteran “dies”, they ascend as they go to the tree and come back something new

Ruby was a FEELINGSBOMB that was set to go off back when she heard that Penny was dead. And all volume long there's been an interruption any time someone noticed she's upset and they never come back to it later. So yeah, this was kinda inevitable.

Ok, here is the thing Rebel, Alyx and Lewis both pre-date Cinder, and Ruby, and everyone by almost a Century. Alyx and Lewis are not Colors (remember in Vol 1 when Ozpin talks about naming people AFTER the Great War). That means they were born before it. Which puts their birth around 90yrs BEFORE Vol 1 starts. Jaune aged about 20 to 30yrs according to CRWBY which means there is roughly a 5 to 1 ration between Remnant and EA.
Also, more to your point.. The theory right now is that Alyx was the one who didn't make it back to Remnant and instead was made into the Jabberwalker. Furthermore, we think Lewis got out and wrote the fable as a way to remember his sister and didn't want her to seen so poorly.

This is truly a messy situation because hurt people, hurt people. They are both right but I think they were personally trying to hurt each others feelings and you can see it worked. The RWBY Fandom loves to attack the Fandom...the conversations i've had with People that claim Yang "betrayed" Ruby by just taking a STEP...is to damn high. Yang did the right thing, steping in between two loved ones when one of them attacks the other without cause or reason!

Pointing a the "BB has nothing to it" vs "ugh BB is taking all the character moments" to "BB is rushed" vs. "BB is bait cause its taken 10 years" (from before they were canonized thus throwing out bait). Modern media just rarely ever does good solid mature relationship building. Like the scene between Ren and Nora in v8 is a rare thing; like BB's slowburn that includes multiple arcs that aren't "will they/won't they". But about the characters themselves. Menagerie wasn't about will Blake go to Yang to hook up or not; there's an entire other arc there for an easy go-to example. Most "romance" is aligned with teenage crush syndrome that acts like flirting and shallow interactions are the epitome of romance, as well as the only way of showing it building. Emotional development = nah, that's friends; when in reality this is a core element of a long-term mature relationship

One of the best moments has been the V8 "Do you think she thinks less of me?" moment in which its so clearly shown that, for Yang, thinking about Blake has already become sort of second nature and she didn't even realize that until Jaune mentions Ruby. THIS is subtle writing and we so need more of it
I love W/W Storys but i fell in love with Ren and Nora after V8. They seemed to be on the path of "When is the Childhood friend gonna wear him down" but turned out so different and refreshing than an overused cliche, much like the old Anime one that says "The Childhood friend never wins" which i hate

In this way, I would like volume 10 to explore a Ruby who, although she already knows who she is, does not try to be the heroine who will carry all the weight.Also I would like her to be like in the first volumes, it would be incredible if she still had some resentment for a while
I actually thought Lewis was the jabberwalker. That Alyx traded him to the tree to get back home. Or something along those lines at least. As well as Alyx being possibly being Neo. If that were the case I could see that she had regretted her trade and losing torchwick made her extremely upset because another another person who was close to her gone.
In hindsight, I shouldn't have assumed they'd only be in the Ever After for one volume. I thought that about them being split up but that lasted two volumes and they were in Atlas for two volumes as well. I need to stop thinking that major changes like that are going to be limited to a single volume.

13:11 I've read both theories in the comments to other reactors... none of them mentioned Cinder, but they did consider both options of both being sacrificed. I mean, Lewis is named after Lewis Carroll, the writer of Alice in Wonderland. Some people believe that he's the one who made it to Remnant and wrote the story, making Alyx look better than she was and leaving himself out of it as a form of tribute to his sister.
Other people think that neither of them made it back, but since Lewis was one of Ozpin's incarnations, he was reborn in Remnant like he always does, and then wrote the story, embellishing it and making his sister not look so bad, just like he did with Lionheart's story in the Mistral newspapers.
Other people think that Alyx, since she alludes to Alice in Wonderland, and since her full name was Alice Liddell... became Little.
Other people think that Alyx and Lewis were part of the bunch of nobodies that Cinder threw off the bridge (and this is the only time Cinder comes into the theories I've read so far) and then once one of them managed to return to Remnant, they were sent by the tree to Remnant's past, rather than the present, and decided to mess with the story a little so as to not fuck with the timeline.
Haven't seen it in any of the comments, but I think there's a more likely potential candidate for an Alyx ascension. In Alice in Wonderland, her name was Alice Liddel. Which sounds an awful lot like Alyx Little.

So any time Afterans “die,” that IS going “back to the tree,” they don’t need to be physically at the tree to ascend, probably because the tree reaches all over Ever After. If the Walker gets an Ever After they can’t ascend, however, and it’s implied they actually do die for good.**
It’s only been said that they can’t ascend. That doesn’t mean they die or are gone for good. Maybe they change….
the fact that Ruby is having cresent rose issues, is a real problem..... She was OBSESSED with her scythe, she made that based off of her uncle, Qrow, who also made his weapon off of maria. Maria was a big sense of hope for Ruby and becoming stronger. Now, after her time here...... I think I THINK the thought is that Ruby also seen something she didn't like when she visited Herb, the herbalist. Just like Alix, and the idea is that Ruby needs to overcome what she went through and get through it, so she doesnt "ascend" or like have to die or change.
Another thing I wanted to bring up, Alice in Wonderland was originally written by Lewis Carol. If Alix's Brother's name is Lewis, it makes me think, what if Lewis made it out, he made it to remnant, he WROTE THE BOOK (since the original author was Lewis Carol) and somehow, someway, Alix is the one who was left behind. She became.... something, maybe the jabberwocky..... Maybe Neo. They have a lot of situations where Neo is almost a direct representation of Alix, including the intro.
EDIT: i just saw you ponder if ALIX was CINDER, NO WAY man, is the way they show Neo holding her hat in the same pose and then switch to ALIX in the intro, on the beach. She's Neo

Nah, I get what you mean. My theory was that Luis and or Alyx, became the Jabberwalker cause of said trade or sacrifice to the tree.
First: I think Louis got back home and wrote the story in loving memories of his sister who became the Jabberwaker
Second:Both Jaune and Rubes where right. It all happend because Ruby had that plan, they all agreed to btw, and Jaun had to kill Penny, but lets not forgett what Rubes has ben through, she saw Phyra die in front of her eyes, she lost her mom, she lost penny twice, in V1 ozpin told her that she is always a leader so she kept up with it, had to make hard desicions, however,when was the last time someone ask Rubes how she felt and sat down talking about?

Great reaction Ghost! Also some people have pointed out that throughout all the episodes up until this one, you can see how Ruby was trying to deal with her emotions and how Blake , Yang , and Weiss either were oblivious, hypocritical, or flat out ignoring Ruby’s suffering.
( Examples: Ruby mourning over penny’s blade and being ignored, Blake flat out saying we have more pressing issues in herbalist episode, then in this one saying the opposite, leaving Ruby practically alone in the market) All of these things built up to finally the most important pillar supporting her broke. That being Jaune ( close friend/ also a team leader ) blamed Ruby for everything.

Ruby's breakdown was a long time coming. For a lot of us, we've seen things go wrong time and time again, and she always came through with a positivity that boosted everyone else. She's never really had any "me time."
As for Jaune's cracking, his confidence tended to rely on others. It's probably why he adopted the Paper Pleasers as his to protect. By doing so, it validated his efforts. Now that they're gone, his reason for existing all this time is gone too.

I was talking to my mom after watching this chapter, and something I thought about was that in the past Ruby was, not just the kind of friend, but the kind of person to help bring someone up when they were feeling down. We all have someone in our lives who is that person. Those kind of people are really good at keeping there emotions in check or pushing down there feelings for the sake of others, and that's not healthy. Because they are pushing there feelings aside, all of those feelings are building up. So after a while, and this happens to everyone, we burst and all of the emotions come flooding out. That is what Ruby is going through. She has gone through too much and kept in too much to the point where she can't keep a smile, or mask, on anymore.
Something else I noticed, in the second episode of the first season I believe. She is talking to Blake about why she wants to become a huntress. She even talks to Ozpin in the first episode about why as well. And she is so sure of what she is saying, and understands what is means to be a huntress. And in the Second season when team RWBY is going on a mission with Professor Oobleck, he talks to the others and their a little unsure of why they want become a huntress, and how to make a difference, or maybe even what a huntress really is. Now in this season you see the roles are flipped Ruby is unsure and the rest of them know exactly what is means to be a huntress. Just something I noticed and found interesting.

I like that Jaune didn't just let Ruby grandstand and wished he hadn't backed down from his statement. Ruby can feel as upset as she wants to by all that is happening, but that never gives you the right to dump on others because you are upset. If she needs to talk, she can hold the floor and talk, but that's her responsibility and one that comes with leadership. People are going to always look to you for the example of what to do, right or wrong.

Ruby never wanted to be a leader, she never even wanted to be “the bees’ knees”. She just wanted to be a normal girl with normal knees. She was chosen to be a leader, back when they were all just students. Since then, everyone’s just been turning to her for a plan, to find the way forward, to give the inspiring speech that gets everybody going. However, because she was the one everyone was depending on her, she had no choice but to be dependable and not allow herself to show what she is really thinking or feeling.
It’s painful to watch that scene play out, especially at the beginning. There’s Ruby just standing there having a panic attack and nearly getting eaten. And Jaune completely misreading the situation again chews her out for not helping her friends, because it was everyone else who needed help, not the other way around. Ah, but then there’s that one moment where Ruby jumps back from having Crescent Rose thrust at her and suddenly they all see for just a moment there’s something deeply wrong here. And then once again the moment passes, oh look, Jaune’s having another meltdown! Hey Ruby, don’t you have any words of comfort to say for this friend who is clearly unwell?
Obviously, this isn’t to detract from what Jaune is going through. It’s just that the first episode Ruby fainted and how quickly was everyone willing to move on and get out of the Ever After? How many signs were there that something was wrong, but everyone got distracted by another thing happening? Then Jaune comes along and HE IS CLEARLY NOT OKAY, so obviously we have to put a pause on everything else and take HIS feelings and wellbeing into consideration. It’s not something they are doing on purpose but it hurts nonetheless and left Ruby feeling like she is unseen and that she doesn’t matter unless she’s fulfilling her role as leader and huntress.
The worst part is we’re just scratching the surface here. Most of that outburst was just throwing back the words everyone was tactlessly saying in front of her just earlier that same episode. Jaune once again hijacks the moment. Again, he’s not well, and neither is Ruby, so now they’re both tearing into each other. The difference is that Jaune has been isolated for a long time, while Ruby has had her friends by her side this entire time.
Right now, the immediate concern is as what someone else is saying, the Ever After has been responding to Ruby’s true feelings this entire time. We saw it at the Herbalist’s and with the Blacksmith. If Ruby desires change, the Ever After will respond and do its best to accomodate her desires, whether they are healthy or not.
Man I keep forgetting just how many chapters are left lol
And yeah we all saw this coming for a good bit and I am dreadfully curious to see how it goes.

Also, it’s a reincarnation thing in Ever After. They don’t die, they just become something new, better, etc. Jabberwocker, however, can permanently kill them.
You should totally take a look at the rooster teeth show camp camp. Its a mostly light hearted comedy show so it will be a nice refresher from rwby trauma

no matter how many times i rewatch rubys vent, it still ticks me off that yang shielded blake from her own little sister like that.
I think Yang wanted to absorb the anger from her sister (or take the brunt of it) because Yang will always forgive her and raised her so she understands how Ruby probably wouldn't mean everything she says while she's breaking down, and Yang can handle Ruby's frustration better then Blake can, which is why I think she stood in front of her.( Not to mention Blake's trauma from Adam who yelled at her a lot.) I don't believe that Yang shielded Blake because she thought Ruby would hurt her but rather to take the first step in trying to diffuse the argument. Thats why she said "hey" so that Ruby wouldn't go too far and say something she can't take back.

It's not their strong suit. Plenty of factors as to why (like a short release window and a loooot of characters)). Characters develop. I just miss the V1 and V2 days, when everyone knew Blake was upset. I don't blame the crew. It's just the way the show is now, and it's my personal preference to have stronger character writing aka the oobleck episode in Mountain Glenn way back when :)

One just came to mind for me. Last week my reach was that Lewis got sent to our dimension and became the author Lewis Carrol. Someone probably said this already. But what if Lewis WAS sent back to Remnant INSTEAD of Alyx and is the author of that beloved book. They never said Alyx wrote the book they just said she’s the main character. They mentioned that the book was trying to teach them good v bad morals. Jaune mentioned Lewis was a sweetheart. Lewis could’ve written this book teaching kids to be better than his sister.

About 4:25, your read on it as sarcasm doesn't fit with the way the PP describe Jaune even in confidence: they all call him their hero and never see his actions as wrong, just misguided. It's hard to conceive the pleasers as capable of sarcasm given their purpose
I had the same reach about Louis being juniper. It's like it understands everything the team and Juane saying but just can't respond. More than anything it's something about Juniper eyes

If I may make my own reach, and this is assuming Ruby stays as leader, I can see her becoming colder before she gets better. If you have seen The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes gives his “This isn’t a democracy anymore” speech at the end of the second season. I could see Ruby taking a similar stance. Again, just a reach, but I can see it happening. We’ll see.

So, maybe it's a plot hole, but...
If Jaune needs to be on site at the Paper Pleasers' Village every morning to stop the chain of disasters? What happened the day previous? It's dark out when we first see him at the market, and mid-day when the Ponderstorm sweeps in. That means he had to be away from the village for at least a full day. Did he have someone filling in for him? Who? And if he does, couldn't that person watch the village while Jaune and Team RWBY search nearby Acres for a way home?
Again, probably just a plot hole... but something that struck me as odd.
Remember, weather works differently here the same way time is a little wonky. Each acre has a different weather system, regardless of time. For example, the Cat escorted them out of the Crimson Keep's acre when it was bright daylight, but the forest acre was near-pitch black simply by walking across the bridge.
