How are we feeling about Olu?

I preferred Bowers in the draft. We could have signed a depth RT or dradted one in the 3rd rd like Brandon Coleman.
      I prefer..
      Bowers TE and Coleman LT
      Over....
      Olu LT and Corley WR
      Easily

@MattOLearyNY Coleman is playing LT already and is more of a stonewall than Olu who gets pushed back.

@MattOLearyNY The draft was more than just the Jets picks, man. It's not Olu or nothing. There was only one Bowers in this draft there won't be anymore 25 or 26. Olu type of OT exist in every draft.

He' s a good player and it helps to have him when someone goes down , let's hope the line stay healthy and he learns from the veteran this year

Olu was the right fit for the team. The number 1, 2 and 3 priority for this season was keeping Aaron Rodgers upright and it was inevitable that 1 or more of our tackles would get hurt. You absolutely had to have a day-1 starter waiting in the wings for when it happened.

We need to draft another OL that can play multiple positions just to be on the safe side next year.

Shouldve draft more lineman in this past draft as opposed to a 4th RB

    • @SimpleEats35

Sure, draft one in the second or third round. But Get a damn receiver in the first to put alongside Garret. After this season Lazard may be gone, as well as Mike Williams and we would have to rely on Corley and Gipson? Lol no thanks!!! Also something to mention is that linemen drafted in the 2-4 round have a significantly higher chance of success in the NFL than a receiver drafted in those same rounds. We have three highly drafted and touted linemen to build this line around, fill it out with depth draft picks and vets after this year

Glad that Jets were able to get a top tackle. Jets should look to take a tackle and/or guard in every draft. Doesn't have to be in the first round. Same with DT/DE.

It's amazing how quickly a "luxury" pick can turn into a necessity in the NFL. Will never question "best available player" again.

I see us signing Bakhtiari as Tyron’s insurance and make Olu Moses Insurance while cutting Max Mitchell

May have been lucky that Atlanta turned down JDs trade offer for Rome.
I think Olu will be a stud, but I think it's early to say he made the right choice.
By that logic, he made the wrong choice with Corley who's done zip (too soon to judge both)

And the right choice for next year's draft. Draft another Offensive tackle in either the first or second round, if we cannot sign a reliable Offensive Tackle in free agency.

  • @jerrycurls88

Yup, this is the right take. This was always the adult way of managing the team. You cant run any offense if the OL is getting beat on every play like last year. ARod would handle it much better than ZW but why would we want to subject a 40yr old QB to that. Tyler Conklin is more than adequate at TE as evidenced by Thursday's game. Bowers is playing great but he wouldve been a luxury.

I get the need for OL. I wanted Jets to bring in 4-5 free agents and in fact I wanted Jets to sign C Connor Williams and move Tipp to G and AVT to T. I still wish Jets took Bowers (as he tears it up with 15 catches in first two games) and I would trade Fashanu for Bowers right now. Not saying Fashanu isn’t a good player who can help but Bowers would have made this offense unstoppable match up nightmare.

Matt, let's not forget his numbers coming out of college. Kid never gave up a sack. And top of that, what better team could've drafted him that has one of better right Tackle in the league. And a HOF left Tackle this kid could learn from. This kid showed more Talent in the pass and run game than Becton did in the time he was able to play. Becton was only semi in the run game. But in pass pro, he couldn't stop a nosé bleed. He was always getting beat like a drum.
