Fujifilm really comes up with the goods that people want to buy. No wonder it is such a successful camera company. If Nikon ever made a 56mm F1.2 for APS-C (DX) I think I wouldn’t be able to buy it because I’d die of shock.
1:24 that's why I don't buy a camera with such LCD titling mechanism. It bothers a lot especially when shooting at waist level with both or left hand (which is the main style of shooting) X-T2 has the best version so far.
Fair point. It mainly serves as a protector when the screen is not in use. It isn't for everyone though. I use the X-T4 for video and i always use a monitor. so the rear screen doesn't get used tbh
Great thing about having the tilt screen is if you need it, it's there. If you don't, then just leave it be. I've used the tilt is some situations, but mostly just use the EVF on my X-T100 and X-T3.

That side-style screen just removes all the space for the left-hand operations, holding, aperture control, etc. As for EVF I use it only in very bright condions or as a monocular with some tele-lens...
Thank you Fuji guys you rock! The only lens I can compare it with is the Leica Noctilux-M 50mm f0.95 ASPH and this one has autofocus. Amazing! Man, how happy I am I switched over to Fuji 9 years ago this is true photography at its best!
Recently picked up a KamLan 50mm F1.1 II - absolutely fantastic manual lens. Also has very good minimum focus. Highly recommend it if you don't need auto. However, shooting with the KamLan made me realize how enjoyable this aperture and focal length are the Fuji. Also, has allowed me to do some portrait work with excellent results - but it is making me work with the focus. The XF50mm F1.0 looks like it would be a dream for professionals, and those that need its fast response.

This lens does seem to be a beautiful lens, but I can't help to wonder how in performs against an 85mm f1.4 lens on a full frame body? I've heard that the crop factor of an APS-C camera body affects the bokeh results. I've heard that the Fuji 56mm f1.2 actually performs more like an 85mm (f1.8) on a full frame body, and then you have the added compression/magnification of an 85mm lens vs. a 50mm lens. Interesting.

Wish that Fuji would invest covering the 90 mm - 200 mm gap in their prime lens. And NOT releasing SAME focal. We have 3 primes 50 mm, but not a single 135 mm.

It's a 75mm f/1.4 full frame equivalent lens. Considering that 85mm f/1.4s have been around for decades and are available today for much cheaper, this Fuji really isn't anything to write home about...
Do your clients ever really ask you OHH IS THIS SHOT AT 1.4 or was it 2.8. ? Can anyone tell what focal range or what aperture it's shot at if they aren't photographers? Probably not. I think there is a lot of snobbery around lenses etc. If it works for you, use what gives you the best results. This is a good lens for Fuji users. Yeah it isn't full frame but if you get beautiful images that people will pay you for, then why not buy it.

Hi Lawrence, the AF in video is really good but not super fast since there are big glass elements to move. It will track moving subjects but it depends on the speed of the subjects. Thank you for your comment
The 56 1.2 is an almost perfect lens so a 35mm would have been better (for me). How practically viable it would have been for Fuji, manufacturing wise, I don't know though. Perhaps it just wasn't possible cost/size wise?
Can’t see shooting more than one person with the depth of field being so shallow and the if the subject is moving there will probably be more missed focus shots. The video actually shows the lens being stopped down to 5.6 for one shot. People will buy this lens and then be afraid to shoot with it at f1.
I'm struggling to understand why/how they can call it the world's first 50mm f1.0 autofocus lens when Canon did this decades ago. I will buy the lens but, it's not the world's first.
Hi Lawrence, we would recommend a good filter so you don't compromise the image quality, B+W makes great filters. 4-7 stops should be good. If you shoot stills you can always use the electronic shutter. Thank you for the comment.

@*Veganislife* it was actually a pretty long lived lens consider its price tag back in the days. From 1989 to 2000 when it got replaced by the 50L f/1.2. Bare in mind, Canon one was a full frame offering meanwhile this fuji is made for APSC image circle. And consider FF shallower DOF, making a f/1.0 lens isn't too important, rather keep the foot print smaller with high image quality with a f/1.2 over f/1. The Canon 50mm f/1 is worth around $4000 used nowadays

Always read the footnotes. Asterisked text clearly states "Among interchangeable lenses for mirrorless digital camera systems as of September 3, 2020, according to Fujifilm data." Of course they may have added that after people started kvetching in the comments... Also, if you want to be hairsplitting, you could have had an f/1.0 autofocus lens on a mirrorless camera months ago by using a Leica Noctilux lens on a TechArt or Fotodiox adapter for Sony, but I think most sane people would have agreed that's more of a bodge than a solution...

There was an other 50mm f 1,0 Lens with AF, produced from the middle 1990 till 2000. The Canon EF 50/1,0 L USM. Regards.
