Sir BrioS of the Brass Balls. Invests 17 SP in Enhanced ECM skills to make make mech invisible to enemy radar down to 350m, then proceeds to paint it with safety yellow stripes visible from 1km.

No doubt it's an amazingly good LRMboat but it's.... a LRMboat. The ECM is the game changer for this build so one must know how to use ECM well. ;) - BrioS
The Vanguard deserves better than being turned into a LRMboat! The SNS-C, set of 8 omnipod build actually has pretty great quirks for LRM'ing: mech.nav-alpha.com/#e226b14f_SNS-C
hahahaa.... but that +30% cbill bonus! And yes, I do know about the SNS-C set of 8 quirks but the mixture of pods I use allow it to have an Energy hardpoint for that TAG and (most importantly) the ECM! The ECM is the game changer if used well. Many a game has an ATM Veagle poptart hoping to ATM me but couldn't even get a lock while I could and he takes a beating as a result. :D - BrioS
The Vanguard is my only Sunspider and it never seemed to do any good for me. As none of my mechs are configured as LRM boats and my Vanguard is fully skilled I could not resist converting it to this build. Now there will be at least two disgusting Vanguards in MWO.
@@ClanBRxV I turned mine into a dirty ATM boat. But yeah, if going direct fire 2xUAC10 + an ERPPC I think is best, works good on the SNS-A too: mech.nav-alpha.com/#91a6727c_SNS-VG
@@gfarrell80 ATMboating on a SNS is really strong too but I have my Huntsman for that and it's evil too. The 2uAC10 + ERPPC is probably the best Sunspider build without lock on weapons. However, you could run 3ERPPC or boat a bunch of ballistics too. It's a good chassis :) - BrioS
Well, LRMs are ... not too terrible if used as part of a team with them taking the team into account when positioning and the team working with them, making calls and protecting them. The main issue I have with LRMs is that they encourage bad habits (hide in rear, no armour sharing, running away when pushed, etc) and reinforce bad habits due to the high damage output. Players think they are doing great when in LRMs because they do so much damage but they hardly develop their skills (ie. Focused fire, shielding, use of cover, etc etc). Then when they reach tier 1 they get owned and then quit the game in frustration. :( - BrioS
Tag does not improve spread except when the lurm boat does not have LOS and a teammate has tag it makes the spread comparable to LOS. But when a noob puts tag on instead of a laser they can now target painted stealth target. But that being said if you had bought some close range weapons to back up your lurms you could have just shoot the stealth target. Mobility is king for lurms. Have to fully agree about lock-on time & spread, based on available documentation. I used to use that link as a reference but people told me otherwise and I did run some tests. Tests done in game proved otherwise. Faster lock ons and tighter spreads were noticed with TAG, even in direct LOS. That being said, even if the documentation were accurate, TAG breaks ECM which is awesome and...it gives you more cbills ;) - BrioS
Unrelated but are you still playing MW5 at all? What are your overall thoughts on it & whether it's worth buying? I've gone back & watched a few more videos of it but it still doesn't seem very interesting. It's much slower paced than MWO, the allied AI seems borderline useless, and everything feels like a slugfest rather than tactical combat.
I gave on MW5 pretty early but not really because it was a bad game but mainly because I felt.... lonely. My thoughts of MW5? It's actually pretty good but after a while it is the same old over and over again with loads of mechs (cicadas, locusts, assassins mainly) and stuff suddenly spawning. The strength of the game which I did not explore were the mods. That should fix most of these issues. MW5 is best described as a wonderful dish served in a beautiful restaurant. However, it is a restaurant that only serves that one dish. After a while, that beautiful tasty dish gets boring.... ;) - BrioS

I really don't mind lurmboats as long as they share armor.

Lurm Boats don't really need ECM. They don't have to give the enemy LOS if they don't want to most the time
