As we remember them, nice that some have been preserved, so much of the past has been discarded without any thought being given to what it represented. Condradulations and well done.
Brilliant! Thanks for the letting me know. Im glad you liked the film. It was great to witness these buses in Caerphilly town centre again. Brought back lots of memories for me having rode behind all of them many times when I was younger. My wife was from Bedwas & we used the bus you were driving every week around 1970 - 1973
Great footage of my town and just listen to those engines. As a child I used to love to sit up front, downstairs, on the double deckers overlooking the covered engines with the driver's compartment to my right. I remember how huge those steering wheels were!
Brilliant video Ger.. This brings back memories of driving similar Leyland PD3's ....I do remember seeing No 6 PAX 466F at Rallies in the past...She certainly is a handsome Bus...A very enjoyable watch ...Vintage Buses always do it for Me...as well as Steam/Diesel Trains etc etc....Thanks for giving Me this link..Best wishes...Steve.~
Hi Steve, thought you might like it. It was great to see these buses return after so many years. The Bedwas & Machen bus had been restored in Lancs & driven t South Wales for various celebrations! Geraint
Superb! Was brought up in Tawelfryn on 36 route to Cardiff.32 & 36 (along with 31, 34, 35 & 33 - my favourite) were regulars on that route. Great to see two if them preserved.Cheers!
Loved the video, just wished I would have been there on the day, bedwas and machen only had about seven vehicles and the caerphilly bus and the rhymney valley bus. I wish exclusive first edition would make models of these three wonderful vehicles, and I could had them to my expanding model bus collection.
Hello, I used the very service during the late 60's & early 70's. The bus used to depart from Bartlett Street. I too miss those days. It was very nostalgic filming them.
My father Len Watkins was a driver, Inspector and Super Intenandant back in the day. Sadley Dad passed away in July 2008. At his funeral, double decker LNY604D attended his funeral.
Thank you for sharing this. I used to use the buses in Caerphilly almost daily for many years & must have seen him. I remember the inspectors. Glad the video sparked the memories. Geraint
From memory there were no rear facing seats on the buses I rode on. I believe there was a sunken gangway upstairs. They retired from service in the early 80s yes. Im more of a steam railway follower, than buses. I filmed these buses because I used to use them regularly when I was younger.
Whilst I appreciate all the comments, plus the buses on this video. There's nothing like technology, to improve things really. Nostalgia can be unhealthy.
Enjoyed this film. Would have liked to have seen more of the interiors; did they both have a rearward-facing seat for five downstairs, and did PAX have a sunken gangway upstairs? When were they retired from normal service, early 1980s?
@@caerphillycastle ok thx, also love the railway vids and this bus vid, was at school I think when this event happened, so unfortunately I missed it, but luckily it's always going to be on TH-cam

Me too! Great memories weren't they? Used to travel from Bowls to Caerphilly & also Caerphilly to Bedwas regularly.
Thanks for you comments.

Thank you very much. I agree about the limited edition models. It would be very nice if there was a model made of the Bedwas & Machen UDC Buses.
Thank you for your feedback.
Hi Bob, I was thinking about you when I videoed the buses as you must remember them too.
Great memories, just like steam!
Thanks mate
that bus towards the end did my route from bedwas to caerphilly , i miss the way it was in the eighties.

Not from where Im standing! So important to relive precious memories & nostalgia is very much part of that. Thats why I put my videos on YT.
