Thanx for the idea. I've had mine for 2 years after first watching your video an they are still going strong an WGI cams still look brand new and are working great!!!!!
Just made one to cover a trail camera that I have mounted on a 5" diameter steel post in my yard for filming birds on my feeders. Previously I used an ice-cream tub (empty of course) but I've modified my set-up and now have the camera on a tilt head (with quick release plate) attached to a pole mounting bracket (as used for security cameras) secured with gear clamps - so the camera now extends further out from the pole. A 5 gallon (19L) PVC mixing bucket, cut in half (as shown in the video), works perfectly. I cut 1" slots in the half-moon 'base' part to lash it to the post with a 'tree strap'. That way I can easily adjust the height above the camera. A couple of things to note - I used an oscillating tool to cut up the bucket which melts the plastic as it cuts so I had to spend time scraping off the burs with a craft knife and sanding the edges smooth. Also the base of the bucket has a reinforced rim and is slightly raised in the middle which meant that the hood dipped when fastened to the post - so I jammed I piece of wood behind to bring it to level.
I really like the camo pattern. I've watched several diy camo painting ideas. And they make it harder than it needs to be. I really liked the way you did yours. I believe I will use your method from now on.
I really enjoy your project. I find them easy to follow and repeat. But above all VERY functional and cost effective. God Bless and Keep those projects comming.
Great idea and very simple. A good source for buckets is Firehouse subs if you have one nearby. They sell pickle buckets with lids for $2 and the money goes to their charities. You will have to air these out to get rid of the pickle smell. We use the lids for target practice. Keep up the good work.
Those turned out great. I have hastily cut old plastic plant potters in half before but was just out of necessity for heavy snow situations. But they looked like crap. I like what you did here. This may become standard procedure. 👍
** TECH NOTE: The smaller bucket option like LUCKY BUCK MINERALS come in, will work perfect as well for these BF cameras. IF you are not in a weak signal area, you can tilt the antenna outward to almost a 45 degree angle and the fit nicely under these smaller hoods with better above cover. They hold up better under a wet heavier snow load than the larger 5 gallon bucket style hoods.
I like this concept a lot. I was always was wondering why after a rain storm my trail cameras wouldn't work properly. Only thing, I like my trail cameras to be stealth, and this idea would make them stand out more, but I might definitely still try to do it on a few.
Love watching your videos. I go on a hog hunt every year in Rhine. I noticed u said ur land is in Dooley county. Doesn't look 2 far away. Keep up the good work. God bless
Hey I noticed you are using or trying out the little self contained solar +battery unit. Bigfoot reacktor etc they have different names pending where you buy. How is it working out for you?
Love it! Haven’t had an ounce of trouble with it. This is the one I recommend people buy if they dont want to build their own DIY. It’s held up almost 2.5 years so far and still going. Wouldn’t hesitate to buy another if I didnt have time to DIY.
Funny you should say that! We have been waiting to burn 40acs but it keeps raining! I’m gonna probably wait until mid to late February to see if I can get lucky with a dry spell! Been a wet winter
My season didn't go so well, I only went twice so I really didnt even have a season I've been dealing with alot of personal things so didn't get out there very much but how was your season
Man! What fantastic and creative idea! Thank you
You’re welcome! You can spare yourself the painting if you can find the camo buckets but they are rare. Tractor Supply has them sometimes. Good luck!
Looks fantastic gonna have to give that a go.
Outstanding…well done!
Thank you!
Thanx for the idea.

It’s really quick and easy! Good luck!
FYI, I’ve done this with a Camo bucket that TSC sells. Great video. Awesome job on the paint job!
Thanks! I have a hard time finding those camo buckets! It would be much easier than painting! Hope you are well!
@@TheHandyHunter I was at TSC recently and they didn’t have any. The big difference is doing it your way you get to customize it to your environment.
Cool, simple, practical, cheap and easy to execute idea. Thanks for sharing that.
You are welcome! Good luck!
Great idea and thanks for the video.
I love this idea. Its perfect for me because it's not complicated.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck!

Man that’s an awesome idea and a great way to support charity at the same time! Thanks for sharing! I love Firehouse subs!

Good stuff there, quick and easy. My kind of work
Thank you! Good luck!
Great idea as always. They turned out great.
Thank you!!
Great idea. Building 2 tomorrow.
Thank you! Crazy simple and cheap to build! Good luck!
Great camo pattern.
Thank you!
I made some, and been using them for several years

I’ve used smaller paint pales like a 2.5 pint and it works great too...plus a little more stealthy. Good luck and let me know how it works out!
Awesome. I just made one myself . Works great 😃
Great to hear! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent job! Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome!
Genius idea! Great job brother.
Thank you! Hope you are doing well!
@@TheHandyHunter doing great! Been really busy with the family though, so I haven't been out much.
Awesome idea. New subscriber! Thks

Awesome! Yes, you aren’t too far from us and you are in hog country as well! Good luck and shoot them all!
nice video i will try it to my cctv camera out side
Good idea... !
Thank you...it works! Appreciate you watching!
Awesome 👍
Thanks for the video bro!
You’re welcome!
Hey...can you use this technique to paint your camera? My cam is the REOLINK GO PT PLUS which is white.
Yep, just make sure you tape off the lenses, etc. Good luck!
Very nice! Looking forward to your next hog trap video.
Thank you! I hope we can pull off a ringer for you with the hog trap! Stay tuned and thanks for watching!
Awesome Dude!!!!! Do you need to wipe the plastic down with anything before you prime it? Keep these great videos coming!!!!!
I generally wipe it with mineral spirits or alcohol but have painted without it. Definitely helps to get any film off first if you can. Take care!
Does this effect the picture quality at all?
Not at all. Actually makes it better from blocking the sun directly hitting the lens.

@@TheHandyHunter which one is it?
Genious
Not sure about genious but thanks anyway! LOL
great video as always Steve!! I been trying to burn 30 acres this month, but it has been very wet!! Have you been doing any burning??
Funny you should say that! We have been waiting to burn 40acs but it keeps raining! I’m gonna probably wait until mid to late February to see if I can get lucky with a dry spell! Been a wet winter
How yaw been doing man you told me to stay in touch like your idea tell preston, preston said hi lol
We’ve been doing great! Thanks for asking! How’d your hunting season go this year? Great to hear from you...I’ll tell Preston!
My season didn't go so well, I only went twice so I really didnt even have a season I've been dealing with alot of personal things so didn't get out there very much but how was your season
We had a really good year...probably our best. This made up for slower years for sure. I’ve got plenty of venison if you need some! LOL
I would love some if we can arrange a way for me to be able to get it lol
Lazy person solution: buy dark green buckets. They cost more upfront, but you do not have to buy all those paint colors.
Agree! If you are really lucky you can find camo buckets at Tractor Supply that work even better!
I did not see those, thanks. I did not like the Home Depot ones, since they have a logo and other text printed on them.@@TheHandyHunter
Nice .. Can You Make 1 To Ship To Me I’ll Pay ?
