    Well done Piglet. What a sense of achievement you must feel. Thoroughly enjoyed the videos of the work carried out inside your workshops. Loco repairs etc. Makes the lockdown much more bearable. Keep making them please.

    Surprising turn of speed for such a little engine. Makes a lovely noise. Does Mrs Piglet like it is the important question.

    Interesting combination at Grosmont Station... is that maybe the largest and smallest locos to ever run at NYMR both in steam together in adjacent platforms??? Lovely restoration of a great little loco!!!

    That boiler arrangement looks very similar to the Great Western Railways 'Steam Railmotor' boiler arrangement.

    Beautiful restoration. Built at Seraing (Belgium) by Cockerill. That's quite remarkable as Cockerill was an Englishman who introduced (at least pushed forward) industrialization in Belgium. Some of buildings of the former Cockerill steel works still exist, by the way. Especially the former power station which also housed the blowing engines for the blast furnaces is really impressive. Unfortunately the buildings are endangered.
    Please refer to hfinster.de/StahlArt2/archive-CockerillLiege-BW-100-3-28.01.2012-en.html for photographs.

    Is this the Cockerell from Middleton railway?
    If so, it would be interesting to see what she's like under the handle after the refurbishment!

    What’s is it’s original purpose any video’s photos of that and what’s its use going to be at the NYMR

    • @nymrfootage
      @nymrfootage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe Piglet has photos of No 8 when it was running in Brussels in the first part of the 20th century.
      Hopefully No 8 will be used for steam heat duties and taking the Western Saloon up the bank to Goathland.

    Where`s the social distancing ?

    • @nymrfootage
      @nymrfootage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The footplate of a loco requires two crew members, driver and fireman. In a similar way to say for example an ambulance or fire engine has two two crew members in the cab. It's not not possible to keep two metres apart but you can keep 1 metre apart, for a lot of the time.
      Footplates are open to the air and crew members are requested to keep to their side of cab whenever possible to maintain distance.
      Due to the need to communicate verbally e.g. to call signals, speak to the guard over the radio etc, crew members do not have to wear masks while performing safety critical functions while driving or perfoming duties in relation to the operation of the loco.
      Crews have santise their hands prior to signing on and the loco controls have to cleaned with antimicrobial wipes before and at the end of each shift. Or whenever there is a crew change.
      Similar to a lot public facing jobs, it's very difficult to maintain social distancing in all circumstances, but santising hands, regular cleaning and minimising crews members, aims to reduce risk.
