He had a really big following just like the Balls and Zion, if you're a big NBA fan you find alot of the guys really early. I found DeMar DeRozan and John Wall when they were in highschool by chance tho but ballislife is really crowded nowadays.

Wow. I worked at Georgetown, and saw him occasionally. I'm 5'11'' and he was a mere shade taller than I. To see his head darn near bumping the rim is ridiculous. The guy has steel springs in his legs. Enormous control too! I remember seeing a video of him in high school. The opposing coach was yelling at him from the bench that he was going to sit at Georgetown. He replied from the foul line as he was shooting "I'm going to start!" He's done far more than that! Congratulations, Mac!

The most surprising thing about this boy is his first Dunk Contest and apart from that, he is the first player to come from a G League participant, and all his dunks were on his first attempt. I think that's what really set him apart... dude was humble and let his dunks do the talking. On the other hand you have Jericho Sims (Hook 'Em!) literally asking judges for a 50.
McClung was good. Everyone else was trash. All of these guys were doing dunks that have been done b4 by multiple people in multiple dunk contests. This event is stale. There are only so many dunks people can do and they've all been done to death. NBA needs to do something to incentivize the big names participating. There was a time where the best big name dunkers were involved. Jordan, Nique, Vince, T-Mac, Lavine, Gordon. Those are considered the best dunk contests. I wonder why. Lebron is weak for never doing it. So is Ja Morant. NBA should up the prize $ if they have to. 10 million to the winner would definitely get people wanting to participate.

Mac McClung is actually good. Not Jordan Kilganon or J.Clark level, but he is one of the much better ones in recent NBA dunk contest. He literally saved the dunk contest.

What I like about McClung's performance (aside from being from the G League, which makes him more appealing to the audience) is that in some of his dunks, it is clear he is good at the hesitation or delay in mid-air that makes his dunks look more difficult and impressive. It is something I have not really seen before in an NBA dunk contest, so he really earned the win this time.
Also looks better when a smaller guy does it
pay attention to the end of his dunks as well. especially at 8:40. at the end of the dunks his body is still moving, contorting. it adds to the flare of the dunks.

Came back to watch this again. After last years contest, Man this was a breath of fresh air. Absolutely psyched to see McClung win and get the recognition he deserved.
Haven't watched anything NBA related since the early 2000s but did follow Mac during his high school and college days. The kid has a genuine love for the game and has turned down million dollar contracts to play over seas just to play at the highest level in the NBA. To see a player care more about the game than money is rare. Much respect to Mac and hope things work out with the 76ers.
