Im like that too. I pull all nighters. The only downside is im sleeping for 8 hours a day during the day time. So im half assing it lol. I blame Amazon 10 hour work shift.
I feel like i’m experiencing this to some degree. I go to sleep at random times and 9/10 times it will be around 5 hours max. I’m awake from 19-20 hours out of the day and it’s hell sometimes. I’m a college student so i get things done but after a while there’s just nothing to do.
I think you had a seizure. I had a brain injury 2 years ago and my brain requires a ton of sleep to heal. It's only happened twice, but if I'm lacking in sleep I tend to have a seizure. I start feeling disoriented, dizzy, a sense of impending doom, and then I pass out and my brain goes haywire and my body starts shaking.
If Bruce didn’t have such a physical load to manage when crime fighting, sure maybe he could manage the schedule. But between training and beatings, he has no recovery time. Uninterrupted Sleep is when your body heals the most.
I love the story lines where he has to cut his rest time even less and has to fight the negative effects of it. Or like when he gets the crap beat out of him and has no time to recover
I barely have REM stage, so I get 1-2 dreams in two weeks averagely. And I sleep 7-8 hours. Yeah, it takes a toll on my memories (I literally wake up everyday barely recalling yesterday's events)
I had the same problem until recently & my shit did a complete 180. Now I wake up & don’t know if what I dreamt really happened or not & it’s especially hard because my dreams are all just regular real life shit 😂 I once spent hours turning my apartment upside down cus I had $1500 cash I couldn’t find only to realize I didn’t actually go to the bank & make that withdrawal 🙄
Not how sleep works. You cycle through REM EVERY time you sleep no matter what. You specifically just don’t have good dream recall, which is an esoteric skill you have to develop
I learned that you can train your body to immediately fall into REM Sleep. REM sleep is the period of sleep where we dream and where we start to feel the benefits of sleeping. Awaking after REM allows one to feel refreshed. Awaking during nearly always leads to the opposite. It's why some people feel great after getting 5 hours sleep but feel exhausted after 8. REM begins around 15 mins after dozing off. However, experts contend that if a person is only allowed to sleep for a short, 20 min burst, the body will begin to adjust that time to compensate, leading to REM sleep immediately after dozing off. In doing so, a person need only sleep for 20 min bursts scattered throughout the day, meaning one could have restful sleep for as little as 2 hours per day. It's been observed in soldiers in combat zones, where the environment gives little time for proper rest. However, to train the body to respond in this way can mean weeks and weeks of exhaustion, essentially sleep deprivation, something very harmful to the body. When I first heard of this, I immediately thought that this would work perfectly for Batman, a person who leads a full day and night life at the same time.
Your example of soldiers doing this leads to the question of if its sustainable. It’s probably not. Soldiers don’t keep up this type of sleep schedule for months on end. Doing that would lead to health detriments.
Pretty sure that's one of those "Yea, you CAN do it and science backs up it's possible but living like that is going to lead to massive problems down the line." You can do that kinda thing for a while (I've had to get on with super short burst for weeks a few times) but it will catch up to you. After all, there's a reason our body wants 6-8 hours.
@@C4MG1RL No question. But it's a great explanation for Batman being able to do all he does. I should say that 8 hours isn't an absolute rule. Some people need as little as 4 hours a sleep. Others (teenagers are a good example), need more.

This got me thinking about an idea of an Arkham game where you could still do everything but you have to sleep for a few hours and things like free flow combat and stealth would be more difficult if you didn't get the sleep you needed. And to make things more interesting you're on a time limit with the main story and side missions kinda like the Dead Rising series and you have to be Bruce Wayne during the day and keep up appearances to the public. But the bright side is that it's a bit easier with Batman than it is for Frank West because Batman could travel by Batmobile or grappling hook and glide. The downside is that you wouldn't have time to solve riddles and collect trophies. I think it's an interesting concept, but I understand if someone thinks it's stupid.
I remember hearing P Diddy say he does something like polyphasic sleeping where he just spreads out 20 min naps over the day/night & never gets a full-night sleep. Maybe that’s why he‘s outta his damn mind by now lol
Polyphasic sleep is actually the natural state of humans, but it’s more like the following: Sleep 3-4 hrs at night, wake up for an hour or two to eat/use bathroom/have sex, sleep another 2-3 hours, wake up at sunrise, take a nap after lunch.
4 hours is all that's technically required to be given to a Soldier in the Army per 24 hours so... Not that crazy. Those 4 hours also don't have to be consecutive. Gone through plenty of weeks with just a couple hours a day. It's why Rip It, Monster, and Red Bull became so damn popular.
Yeah but that’s only over a limited period of time not consecutively for decades. Plus most of a soldier’s time is just spent waiting, Batman engages in hand-to-hand combat & extreme physical activity every day.
I've had tons of family and friends in the Army, Marines, and even Navy, and I can tell you, that 4 hours of sleep business, is quaint but not leaned on. They all rather get 8 hours if they can. Its been tested and obviously several CIA operatives, Special Forces, BUDS, etc have said its doable....I myself have tried. However, Batman does this repeatedly, days on end. Armed forces still need plenty of sleep. Anything that requires very little sleep in the real world, is usually spontaneous and does NOT go on for long periods of time. They make Batman ridiculous of course, however, if they were gonna add micro napping, they simply could just had him develop a compound that rejuvenates his brain ala a concoction of Lazarus pit juice (lite) and some other compound he perfected. I gave Polyphasic sleep a try in my early 20s. I could more or less manage it for a month but it wasn't conducive to daily life at college which didn't give nap time during the day at the intervals I needed it.
I always though batman wasn't really out every single night unless there was something important happening. Like, the idea that he could be around any night was enough to deter a lot of crime on its own, right until you got a supervillain stomping about.
That is incorrect. Batman dropped off Robin in Gotham as a test. He told him to fight crime along the way and come back within the next 10 hours. Robin came back 3.5 days later…. i tried polyphasic sleep for a week kinda, it worked for me better than a block of 8 hours of sleep, at first i woke up just as tired as my usual sleep, but after 3 days of 1 block of 6 hour sleep and then a nap of 30 minutes roughly 7-8 hours after, i started waking up feeling energized, i stopped because i kept forgetting my nap and a lot of stuff in my house, but ill get back after i move houses in the next couple of months. ive also meditated a lot since i love doing it and it does make you rest a lot, so i can actually say that batman sleep disorder (because thats a mess when and how long he sleeps) can work, just give it a few days to fully notice if it works for you
real answer: he’s a fucking fictional character, he has the power of the script on his side, none of the “ways” he uses to “sleep” would work on a human being (which he is, he has no powers at all) and a normal human being can’t function correctly by just “relentless will power, training and discipline” the body needs to fucking rest so that someone doesn’t dies and can have his mental and motor skills work as they should. There, I saved you 10:48 minutes of your life.
You do realise that analyzing fiction and fictional characters with realistic concepts is a form of entertainment? Of course everyone knows the real answer is because fiction is not real and characters can do impossible feats because someone imagined it.
Holy crap, I naturally do some of this. I have sleep apnea and according to my sleep study results, I go into and out of third stage sleep in seconds rather than the typical 30 minute cycles. While it isn't the same micro-sleep that you described here, my brain often puts me to sleep at random intervals throughout the day. Typically this is only a few seconds to a few minutes at a time, but other times I have lost several hours. Mostly when this happens I don't even realize it and will immediately resume what I was doing prior to these micro naps. I still try to get a regular night's sleep when I can, but most of the time I can't sleep for more than 3-4 hrs at a time. It's crazy that this kind of awkward sleeping arrangement might actually be better than a typical one.
Man, Batman just feels like a on nerd sleep. I mean, that is how I feel when I find some cool game to play, and I play it so much that I didn't notice when it is morning already lol. But, back in my school days I once feel asleep in the bus on a way home and nearly missed my stop after school, asking driver to stop not far away from my grandma's house. It was like a down the hill. So instead of going home, I got out there and went to see my grandma back then, and then went home. But I was so embarrassed of what happened that, I just lied to my grandma that I just decided to visit her after school lol. But reality was that, it was a very hot sunny day back at that time in school, and I was so tired from all that heat and lessons that I could not hold up and when I got in to the bus and went home, I just turned off like a freaking computer and later woke up at another stop. I only told my parents back then of what happened, and next thing you know, instead of doing my home work and studying at school, I had a chance to relax and just take a break from all of this. And now, years after that, that I'm 30 years old, I can just fall asleep just while watching video on youtube. And all I had to do is, to turn my hip and legs to the right while sitting on chair, and maintain my body in straight forward position for 3 minutes or so and that's it, I suddenly get tired, dizzy and just wanted to take a nap. Or other words, my health are ruined by this moment.

i tried polyphasic sleep for a week kinda, it worked for me better than a block of 8 hours of sleep, at first i woke up just as tired as my usual sleep, but after 3 days of 1 block of 6 hour sleep and then a nap of 30 minutes roughly 7-8 hours after, i started waking up feeling energized, i stopped because i kept forgetting my nap and a lot of stuff in my house, but ill get back after i move houses in the next couple of months. ive also meditated a lot since i love doing it and it does make you rest a lot, so i can actually say that batman sleep disorder (because thats a mess when and how long he sleeps) can work, just give it a few days to fully notice if it works for you
Sleep is the one thing on can beat
Fate: The end is neigh Bruce Wayne.
Batman: I thought I'll die an old man.
Fate: Not with that sleeping schedule.
Donald Trump only sleeps 4 hours a night
And takes 6 hour naps
With his eyes closed. You're welcome
Maybe he is a regular client of Heisenberg
No Keaton clips, huh?
Batman would need to miss two nights sleep to start acting drunk.
i did tried to sleep like batman and HA spoiler: it went TERRIBLY wrong
He eventually gets knocked out and collapses in a ditch somewhere. That’s when he sleeps.
Joking of course…
watching this at 2am:
True enough I'm just fortnite's Batman but it's just part of the job you have to sleep when you can get it in
The whole villain are fucked if he get his 9 hours.
So... he's tired all the time, cause that's pretty much my sleep schedule and I'm exhausted >XD
So when does Alfred sleep if he's helping Bruce?
batman gets more sleep than me. i'd be stoked af ifi can get 4 hours of sleep.
I’ve gotten 4 hours of sleep almost every day for my whole life 😮
real answer: he’s a fucking fictional character, he has the power of the script on his side, none of the “ways” he uses to “sleep” would work on a human being (which he is, he has no powers at all) and a normal human being can’t function correctly by just “relentless will power, training and discipline” the body needs to fucking rest so that someone doesn’t dies and can have his mental and motor skills work as they should.
There, I saved you 10:48 minutes of your life.
You do realise that analyzing fiction and fictional characters with realistic concepts is a form of entertainment? Of course everyone knows the real answer is because fiction is not real and characters can do impossible feats because someone imagined it.
Who else is watching this while falling asleep
stop making videos about me bro come on
Batman sleeps enroute to task in the batmobile, batwing, etc. with AI taking the wheel. atleast that's my thoughts
I'm pretty sure hi closes his eyes
"Experimental brain enhancing drugs." Just say it Batman probably does speed. Adam West era Batman was *definitely* on speed, it was legal.
And still they say he is a normal human
The “science” of how an imaginary character sleeps… wow smh.
Who spit in your cereal
Uhm.. upside down?!..
I heard Alfred was Batman.
I wonder how many hours of sleep alfred gets
