    JB i have 6000 miles on my h.o. F450 xlt, i can tell you i don’t even notice the 2000 rpm on the highway, the laminated sound proof windshield, is crazy quiet,
    The plus is i rarely get regens, that dpf filter is always getting more flow and heat, using very little def too,
    Of course that was not the case for the first 3000 miles, it was running rich and jugling def like a sailor😂

    JB, when you insure it. Give the insurance company the VIN and/or picture to show it’s a pickup for personal use. By default they try and force you into a commercial policy as it’s in the system as a cab & chasis. That will lower insurance significantly. Unless you are using it for commercial use.

    No one is buying a f450 to worry about the mileage…. They but it for the towing capacity, the commercial undercarriage larger commercial rims and leather brakes, and the wider front end for tighter turning radius

  • @hellkitty1014
    @hellkitty1014 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    One thing I think people miss about the F450 is that it doesn't offer the max towing nor payload of the Super Duty line, but it is superior in overall towing "ease" and especially maneuverability.
    This truck is not for the poseurs out there. G-rated tires habe multi-ply layers that are designed to carry monster-level loads, so if you're not putting that truck to work often, the ride will be terrible at stock level. There are tricks that you can do like carrying 500lbs consistently in the empty bed, and of course Kelderman makes an amazing high-capacity air ride system that smoothes things out plus helps with load leveling.
    This is still an amazing factory-built commercial rig for the regular Joe who wants that wide-track front axle that makes towing a long 5th-wheel a breeze. I went with a '23 Ram 4500 w/ upfitter bed just due to my overall familiarity with all things Cummins(I do my own maintenance), plus I could not locate an F450 within 1000 miles that was being sold at MSRP in the trim that I wanted.

    • @jeffs2809
      @jeffs2809 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think you’re mistaken somewhat on the f450 towing. At least the pickup version does get you the highest tow rating with ford. I’m not sure about the payload. I know with ram the 3500 pickup has better towing vs the 4500 cab & chassis. But Ford has positioned the f450 “pickup” to compete against ram & gm’s 3500’s in the towing wars.

    • @hellkitty1014
      @hellkitty1014 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jeffs2809 yes, specific trims and low-optioned trucks will be the best at towing.

    The turn radius with that wide-track front end is just crazy. It would be tempting to get the F450 over the F350 just for that. You're stuck with the 4.30 gears, though, so fuel economy is gonna take a bit of a hit. And I believe Ford keeps the rated GVWR at 14K for the F450 to keep it as class-3 vehicle. Any more than that and it becomes a class-4 vehicle with different regulations and requirements. I think switching out those hard G-rated tires for something more comfortable would really make this truck more liveable. The only question then is whether or not the TPMS system would be permanently yelling at you. I had E-rated BFGs on my Ram 1500 for a while, but they rode really hard. I suspect they would be perfect on a heavier truck like the F450. Beautiful truck. Really like the King Ranch, particularly because it's SO much different than any of the other packages.

      If you swap the 225/70R19.5 to 265/70R19.5 and the 19.5x6 wheels to 19.5x6.75 you get more sidewall and a slightly softer ride. The downside is that most 265/70R19.5s have a lower speed rating than the OEM tires.

  • @darens440
    @darens440 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Wide track front end is the best feature. They should return the option of that wide axle to the F350. Then you could have a better riding dually that turns sharp. F350 XL wide track dually 7.3 gas would be awesome. Also what is wrong with them for still not having plenty of F450s available? They've been short on supply for so many years and if you find one its marked way up to crazy town.

    The F450 is an incredible well engineered truck. KR is nice, but for slightly more money, you can get Platinum with projector led and led taillights/led plate lights. Plus you can get the Carmelo interior seats with Platinum

    • @hellkitty1014
      @hellkitty1014 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree. In some cases, the Platinum may be the same price or less due to the standard equipment on the Platinum grade truck. The King Ranch seems to be just an interior spec truck. For some reason, Ford doesn't consider it a luxury grade like Ram does on the Longhorn Limited.

    2 things, when you don’t run 19.5 wheels and tires you immediately loose payload capacity. The sidewalls are so stiff you’ll
    Notice a “darting” from the ruts beat into the road. Very common on 450s and up.

    350 dually with a 4.10 equates to pretty much the same as 450 with 4.30 because of the wheel size. You don’t tow as much go to the 350 with 3.55. I’d love to have the tighter turning but my 350 with 4.10 has a 6100lb payload so technically on paper my 350 will out do a 450. Both have a 14k GVWR but the 450 weighs a lot more.

      Not with 4.30 gears and dually. F250 diesels don’t average that, and this has way more aggressive gearing, weighs over 1,000 pounds more and has way more rolling resistance with the duallies. Maybe 18 on a short highway trip at 60mph.
