Log Deck With Automatic Raising Ramp Build

- This is the build video of the Log Deck with the Automatic Raising Ramp, We used our Woodland HM 122 to mill our beams to build the log deck, we use 12 1/2" spikes that we made to joint the beams together.
I'm 73 and just bought a mill. You guys have no doubt saved me from a body cast with this video. Thanks!

So, you are in your 40s. Just wait till you are in your 60s. It seems like I was in my 40s just a couple years ago. My 20s were maybe three years ago. Man, time go's fast. Nice job there.

If you bolted some lead weight to the downside of the ramp it would take a lot of weight off the lifting force too. Enough weight could balance the lift itself.
I like the fan you have hanging up , I had this same thought. I'm getting tired of sawdust blowing back in my face, and it will be nice having air flow in the summer.
Ya the fan helps out a lot. It keeps the dust from blowing back in your face.

Howdy y’all- you did a mighty fine job on your deck and ramp. I really like how you got your sawmill shed set up. I can think of only one thing you left out. You need a big ice tea dispenser lol. Take care and God bless
Once we get the backside of the shed made there will be a 24x24 cabinet shop beside it, that’s where we will have the refreshments cooler, plenty of tea and grape kool aide, I drink a lot of the grape sugar free kool aide

We have had real good luck from the log deck, it has worked great since we built it, makes it a lot easier to roll the logs onto the mill bed, we appreciate you taking your time and watching our videos and commenting, thank you
I bought two 25 lb boxes of 12 inch spikes 25 years ago. I think I paid $5 each. One box is galvanized screw spikes. I think they used them for log cabins. The other is a wire nail like 1/2 inch diameter bright finish. I have used them for everything and still have a lot of them left.I want to make a brow for my 126 mill. its a lot easier to load from a brow. A mill shed would be good too, but this is my last house. I have a slab to put the mill on.That sits on ledge. We have lots of ledge to set stuff on. Dirt we dont have.Black walnut ! We dont have any in ME.

@@CountryHomestead1Thats a good looking nail you made. Those spikes I have were Made In USA. That is how long ago I bought them. Did you drill pilot holes before driving them? I imagine the dimples? on the rebar would grab pretty good too.
Yes sir, we pre-drill the hole first and then nailed them in and ya it holds them real good

Sorry I got diverted to something while you were explaining the stuff I asked you about. Why is your ramp so far from the mill? I get you have to clear the mill itself. Do you clean out the sawdust with the tractor Bucket? Speaking of wrong cuts, My friend was building a shed for another friend and he always gets nervous when I show up to watch. He got kind of frazzled and cut one of the posts off way short. SO THE HEADROOM IN THE SHED WAS ONLY like 5 ft. I thought it was funny butIi left because he got rattled and was embarrassed.Hes a nervous type.
I just made it so when I pickup the ramp I have a safety chain on my main beam, so I hinged the ramp right under my outside beam, there is not enough room for the tractor to get in there, we have a backpack blower that will make short work of the saw dust
Now that it has been 6 months, any issues with the log deck?
Na log deck works great, makes it a lot easier to handle the logs
