I started playing KCD a couple weeks ago, and I don't think I'm the only one. There seems to be a new audience that is learning of this game and getting into it. It's an amazing game despite it's flaws, and I think good games do very well over time through word of mouth. Then the second game was announced and it seems so damn good. It's sales are going to be giant, especially over time. I'm anticipating it being a GOTY nominee.
A good bunch like me are just replaying it on PC with better graphics and better controls and all DLC now since it was cheap to justify a second purchase and to create safe files for progress import or to remember story choices.
@@caseyblankenship987 yeah like bro in 15 century there was no balcks in europe is it that hard to understand? and they have diversity in the first game a woman saves henry thats the most diverse this in the 15 century.
@PodcastNow you can kinda see the pattern of his style in games from playing the OG Mafia 1 and 2 and KCD He values realism and immersion in his games with usually a serious tone and story.
Not only that, he left Mafia 2, when the story was being changed from what Dan Vavra wanted for the game (matter of fact, on an interview, he said that the ending that he had planned for Mafia 2, was completely different from what we got). So he decided to leave the production, rather than staying and participate with something he didn't agree with.
I'm one of the ones who got into it recently - and since then its consumed my life - I've put 100+ hrs into just one playthrough so far (not even done yet - but almost like 2 quests away from Epilogue). I literally dont know why I didnt get into it sooner - I think I found out about it at all the disappointment around Dragon Age - look what they did to my boy gif here and KCD perked my interest with that tweet about a 7 yr old game having better numbers. I'm glad I didnt find out sooner about it - due to how much I want the 2nd one to come out. If I spent 6 years waiting for it I think I would have way more time put into it (like prolly 300+ hrs or more - I'mma give a shot at Hardcore after this playthrough - help lol) . I'm already needing the next one to come out, been watching all the dev streams and vids I can, bought the pre-order for the KCD2 Gold. I like supporting indie studios and more so indie studios who put love and care into their products (Larian lookin at you) and in turn give me something I can get lost in and is super fun to play - even if the combat sometimes kicks my ass - reload , hope your last save isnt too far back and try again XD.
It's for sure a majority loved game but I think peoples expectations are a little too high for this game. Don't get me wrong, it'll be an amazing game and it'll have like 98% majority positive reviews. But in terms of straight up popularity. It's not as big as you think. The first game sold 8 million which yes is amazing, it took 7 years to do so. It's on a massive sale right now and the numbers are inflated massively. Now I know ubisoft are terrible, and i hope they get sold, or bankrupt, but when you compare that to let's say AC mirage which i saw a tweet is on 7-8 million in just a year and nobody even talks about it, is mindblowing. Point im trying to make is, well recieved is not the same as popularity. KCD is a very very very niche game.
I started KCD on GamePass in 2020 and ended up buying it on sale for $10 when it left GP. When I finished I loved it so much that I gifted it to four more of my friends. All 5 of us have KCD2 preordered now 😎
I am pretty excited for this. Just played KCD for the first time and was really impressed by the immersion. Many games claim to have it. KCD has it, does it well, and is still fun.
@Ronuk1996Its called pattern reading….an absolutely legit and recommended ability to have… Its even d*mb if you are not able to do that….you are so bra*nwashed from the industry that you really believe that you shouldn’t be able to use your brain and connect signs and steps of typical processes to conclude the outcome or to point out problems before a state has reached were changes can no longer be applied and it’s too late
What bad taste in games. Also, very predictable. At least three on your list are simple copies of the first games. Take Kingdom Come, for example; it is just the same game with slightly improved graphics and a new story. That's about it. Repetition of the first game quickly became very boring in a boring open world. GTA 6 will, of course, break all records simply because it comes from Rockstar and will leave all competition far behind. But will it be as good quality? Probably a short single-player story and they will just continue to milk the online part for the next 10 years. But okay, have fun with your standard list. ;)
@--PaZuZu-- Bad taste is such a silly thing to say. Everyone has their own taste in games, movies, food, and so on. There's many people who would think you have bad taste in games. The kingdom is already unique, being a hardcore RPG and a grounded medieval RPG. Its perfect as they have added full-on battles, new weapons, and more ways to interact with NPCs, more random encounters, more indepth RPG systems, more impact on Henry's story and adding more depth to side quests. Sequels are meant to build on what came before, this notion that a sequel needs to basically be a brand new IP is silly and causes games to lose their identity. But sense you have such great taste in games I would love to hear what games you are looking forward to.
I know a few people that'll be diving in at launch, and I think it'll be a good time for 'em. I'm personally looking forward to Avowed that month. I've been hyped for that one for years! Crazy it's only a little over a month from launching.
I know they made it "easier" but I fear that it's hype will attract people who will later pan it for being "too hard". There certainly is some jank in kcd1 but a lot of complaints people had were about not understanding the combat and thr fact that Henry starts out as a peasant who can't really do anything and you have to train him, which the game shows/tells you outright. I think if people walk in expecting a power fantasy and getting an immersive historical rpg they will give it a bad review. Maybe I'm wrong, I can envision scenario where it's a game of the year contender for being the best at what it's trying to achieve or where it gets flayed because it's not "for everyone".
@dschoene57 No, I choose my games based on the actual game. However, more times than not, the dev's politics seep into the game. That's how I knew to avoid Veilguard (and many more games like it), and that's how I knew it was safe to buy KCD2.
@@Rapunzel879 Well, you seem to have avoided all Dragonage titles then, because the game has been what is called 'woke' these days all the way since 2009. That's exactly what I was getting at. You didn't 'avoid' Valeguard, you never played any Dragonage game or you would have known what to expect. As for KCD2, since it is meant to be historically accurate, the never was any danger of 'wokeness'. If you were gay in 1403, you ended up burned at the stake, and there were only white people in Bohemia at the time, so that question never really presented itself. That has nothing to do with warhorse 'standing up to the woke mob', that's just a basic fact of history.

KCD II cannot be 'bigger than we think' as Warhorse Studios confirmed it would be developed with the switch in mind during its announcement, meaning greatly held back by inferior tech as such will not take full advantage of what the more capable systems can do

Depending on the power of the consoles they change the quality/performance. You should have gotten a clue when they said there's gonna be performance and quality mode on PS5 pro.
