If someone else mentioned this or I missed it in the video, disregard me. I practiced this when I was young and getting into magic, and I had very little finger strength because of being a child and all. I gained the hand strength necessary to do this while practicing by using 1/2 a deck to 3/4 of a deck and adding more as I got better. That helped me to master the coordination and build up the strength in my fingers at the same time. Maybe doing that is completely obvious to everyone or someone else has said it and like I said, I just missed it. However, I wanted to share anyway in case someone was struggling and it would help. Great video, thanks for the tutorial!! You're gonna be huge someday man. Be kind out there people. ✌🏼🤙🏼
Hey, Chris, I've loved magic since I was little but was never very good at it. The day I found you on TH-cam I thought "wow this is like the coolest magician I've ever seen." Since then I have been watching all your videos and trying your magic tricks. I've even been able to impress some kids at school. Basically to wrap it up I just wanted to say thank you for inspiring me to get back into magic!
That's not weird Nick. I've always loved magic, especially cards with the tricks and cardistry. Never could do anything or even tried actually. Since I've seen these vids I've been slowly learning some cool stuff. My motivation for this? I'm almost 60 years old and have three very young grandchildren that I have all sorts of fun doing card tricks and moves for. My 5 year old grandson has a basic magic kit now and is having so much fun showing me tricks. I think the majority of people wish they could do magic but they just don't have the patience. At my age now I wish I tried earlier but it's better to at least do it and know that I tried and learned what I could and hopefully will continue to.
Chris Ramsay 🌹 there true love ❤️ xD cool tutorial though. I myself use method nr2 most of all and like the one where you still use the corners to push but put the rest of your fingers to just guide them better. The upside down spring that made it a challenge now though :p great video man!
This move is SO hard and SO frustrating, but with practice it's extremely rewarding! I found that the best way to avoid frustration is to laugh when the cards go flying across the room! Scoop them up and soldier on. Chris, I have watched other tutorials on this flourish, but yours is definitely the best and easiest to comprehend. You are such a likeable guy and I love your tutorials. Thanks so much for taking the time. Peace.
love that feeling of watching a video on the spring thinking I still cant do it then finding with just a couple of attempts I succeed consistently with every variation. I'm literally just a card collector but with every tutorial I actually grasp I want to learn more.
Hey Chris I had never even attempted a spring before and in the last 5 minutes I have already almost got it down. Thanks! Also have a good day o7 Edit: Its Been 45 minutes and I now have it solidly down being able to spring them about 8-12 inches and catch all of them very consistently. This is a great way to get away from studying statistics.
I've watched so many tutorials of the spring flourish and got so frustrated because I couldn't get it, even after an hour. I got yours instantly. Just need to get smoother and then more precise and can increase the distance. Thanks Chris!
man literally do not know how I got your videos on my news feed but the first video I seen was when you went to a magic convention trying to find the best trick..from there I went to my local store an grabbed about 4 decks of cards an jumped right into it... now jus a week later I can flourish an Fan Like a Half Decent Street Performer ...I really appreciate your videos man! keep up the good work an tutorials bro!
Wow...been trying to Spring Cards with 3 fingers centered on top, thumb bottom center. Transitioned thumb to corner, and index/middle to top right corner. I now realize what a terrible mistake I was making. So smooth now, and so much more control. Thanks man.
"If you have like 30 magicians in a room" "KKKKKKKKKKTTTTTTTT" "KKKKKKKKKKKTTTTTTTT" "KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKTTTTTTTTTTTTTT" "KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT"
Had a job interview today and when asked about hobbies got to talk and perform some magic! You are a great inspiration and I can't tell you how thankful I am for your videos.
I love that ring finger spring with the pinky. The one where the cards glide. I can already spring cards and because of that I was able to get the gliding card spring down within minutes. I love it
I've seen certain people did this before and Wanted to do it myself but failed due to doing it wrong but after watching. This over again I've gotten good thank you fellow magician
literally.........THE spring tutorial on youtube. I've looked at several others and could never really get the hang of this because they didn't really describe the physics of it, but before you finished the first kind of spring i was already getting it. Seriously man good video thanks!
Hey Chris, Love your vids, been watching since late November/Early December last year, and since then both yourself and Pete McKinnon have BLOWN UP! From about 50k and 20k to 230k and 400k!! Congrats Dude! Love from Western Australia!
I have only recently started learning, thank Mike Boyd for that, and I loved using the plastic cards because of their rigidity. They're firm so I know what I can expect. More spring power, a little less control due to the strength requirement and of course the muscle pain. That thumb muscle you pointed out, yeah imagine me typing XD I will do it the same way Mike does it. Day 1, hour zero. Well atm it's more like hour 2 day 2. And I'm gonna learn a lot more. Strength is the title of this year for me. Because this year I had a lot to overcome. And I got stronger because of it. Have fun learning yall, I am having the time of my life today ^^
What I did to learn was start with 15 cards and learned how to release one at a time. Once I did that I just added more cards until I had the full deck.
From no spring to some spring. Thanks for the lesson. I liked how you showed what a beginner spring might feel and look like. Good to know I'm on the right path.
I doubt you'll even see this, but thank you so much for sharing so much knowledge on here. I just got started with cardistry last week and I'm already farther than I thought I could ever be thanks to your tutorials. Keep crushing it!
-me: I'm gonna learn this slowly so i won't have to pick up cards from ground. -chris: you should have cards on your floor later -chris: thanks guys see you in the next video. -me: *picks cards from floor* ok
ive scoured youtube trying to figure this out, and halfway through watching this i picked it up immediately. idk how it was so hard for me to find a good tutorial, so thanks for that
Soooooo this video has been a life saver for me because it's my vacation and I actually have nothing to do soooo I got bored until you inspired me to try magic and I really thought I can't do the spring, but just watching this video is very encouraging and helpful to me Keep it up😁
My hands are too small to do the first spring because I’m 11 so then I just do the third spring. Then I saw your video and the second spring helped me a lot. Thanks so much! You are my favourite TH-camr.
I personally spring with my thumb at the back corner and my middle finger and index on the diagonal front corner. I find that to be the best way. Great video Chris!
I realize this is an older video, but I have to say the tips about ring finger position and thumb pushing that start at about 5:22 were really helpful. I can get the cards to consistently come off my thumb now, and while the whole move isn't super-smooth yet (I'm very much a beginner), it's definitely better and a bit more consistent that I could get before watching this video. Thanks!
WOW!!!! That's not how I thought that was done. Now I know how to do it properly and I'll keep practicing until I get it down. Thank you for showing this.
Learned first spring (well it's more like 4:17-4:20 spring) like within 2-3 minutes, really helpful video! My spring isn't perfect, but hey.. this guy gives some really good advices. Keep practising
i was tryna teach myself this from just watching you do it from another video, i kept releasing with my index first and wasn't working. as soon as u said release from the thumb first i instantly got it..hell yeah. ya boi gunna have some new skills after the quarantines over.
This is a question for anyone who knows how to do this: My hands are really small and I can't get my thumb and index finger around the cards but I tried anyway and I couldn't do it, but when I used my middle finger I could get my fingers around a bit more so can I use my middle finger
Thanks Chris, cool tutorial. Slowly getting the hang of it. Maybe worth mentioning that it's good to straighten the cards once in a while because you're bending them quite a bit as you spring 'em. They fly better if they're not already bananas.
your killing it as a full time youtuber man. a video on how to make a routine seem less like a routine and all the stuff that surrounds that would be awesome. keep doing what your doing buddy

I rarely comment on TH-cam but I love what you've done with this channel as magician. I've watched all videos and come home after a day of performing (im working magician XD)to watch this channel! By way I have a routine I want to show you some time that I use daily. That wouldn't be possible without your single card production tutorial. Love to talk to you sometime about this. Besides that dude it's bank holiday weekend in UK so i wanna wish you a happy bank holiday weekend and all best in future dude!

I am hooked on the sound. Hand cramps are totally worth it. Thank you for your time and encouragement.

camo51424 at least you weren't calculating the chance of now having to pick up a lot of cards.
wtf. how did you do it in 45 mins....
ive done it for 2 weeks but can't even consistently catch 4 inches :(
I've watched so many tutorials of the spring flourish and got so frustrated because I couldn't get it, even after an hour. I got yours instantly. Just need to get smoother and then more precise and can increase the distance. Thanks Chris!
Am I the only one thought this was a spring themed flourish... as in the season? Ok I'll show myself out...

How much does this damage the cards?
Just get cheap cards and practice on them instead
Card spring becomes my first favourite in card flourishes because it's working a lots for the first time i learned as a beginner

To start off, practice using only half of the deck, then gradually put more
Always wanted too learn how to do this! 3 days in and i'm starting too get it. Thank you!

Thanks Chris, cool tutorial. Slowly getting the hang of it. Maybe worth mentioning that it's good to straighten the cards once in a while because you're bending them quite a bit as you spring 'em. They fly better if they're not already bananas.
How to avoid bending of cards

Chris, there are no muscles in your fingers.
I already had a general idea on how to spring cards before watching this video so I picked up the first method in just a matter of seconds now I've just gotta work on those specific muscles so it looks better
I've been trying to do the tornado rotation of cards with my dribble.. That sideways spring though is genius!! Thanks Chris
I rarely comment on TH-cam but I love what you've done with this channel as magician.
