The only thing needed is practice. Nothing maters other than this, your original dexterity does not matter. Your hands do not matter. Your deck does not matter (you can even do perfect faro with old poopy deck, I do that every days). Just be confident that with enough practice you'll get it and in a certain amount of time you will be able to do it
Ya always gotta know when to hold 'em, when to fold 'em, and when to deal 'em- *Launches half the deck onto the table and drops the rest.* ...Fifty-two at a time.
Tips that help me. 1) make sure your cards are air-cushion finish (i tried the first time with normal Maverick and was very hard to do it (probably because i'm a beginner with cards) 2) don't need to apply to much pressure. Just a little. 3) use the corner to start the movement. 4) slight lateral movement After half day practicing i finally can do it. Hope any of does tips helps at least one person.

the math behind card tricks is really interesting. I'm more amazed by the lengths magicians go to to really learn their decks and the muscle memory required to perfectly cut and perfectly shuffle all the time than I am by the actual trick. The balls it takes to put both your memory and your handling together into one trick and be confident that you've done everything perfectly is always impressive.
Anyone struggling with this may be making the same mistake as me - I just could not get the cards to weave. Finally I realised I was gripping the sides too hard. I moved my fingers back slightly and slackened my grip and the weave just did itself just like they do in Chris’ excellent tutorial.
Been using the faro shuffle for ages but the mathematics behind the faro shuffle and how it can be used to position a card in a specific location in the deck is new to me! Thanks Chris! Even when you cover the stuff I think I already know I always still learn stuff!! 😄

No Way! I recently went to tannens and saw the guy who created this deck and they look sick. I told him that instead of doing an Omni deck u should switch the deck out for a block of wood

Tips that helped me learn: 1. If you’re going to learn the way I did, you need to be shuffling from the top down, with your right hand above your left and the back of the cards facing right. This is with a standard Bicycle deck. 2. Focus on holding the cards in your right hand the same way Chris did in the video, with your index finger applying pressure at the top, and make sure to keep your other fingers as far to the right of the pack as possible (basically don’t leave your fingers hanging over the edges towards your left hand). 3. With your left hand, keep your index the same way Chris did, curled down towards the bottom, and hold the pack with your thumb up about three fourths of the side, and your pinky under the back corner of the pack. Your thumb should not hang over the top of the pack of cards. 4. Square the cards as best as you can, otherwise this step will be more difficult. Take the closest bottom corner of the pack in your right hand and line it up with the furthest back corner of the pack in your left hand. (Your right hand should be over the left and slight further away from your body) 5. Apply pressure with your right hand, pushing diagonally into the corner of the bottom pack. You may need to rotate the pack in your right hand very slightly clockwise before applying pressure. Remember to keep a bit of pressure with your index fingers in their respective spots as well. This part may take a few tries, but after a little while, you should get the beginnings of a weave. Even just a few cards starting to weave together should set you up for the final step. 6. With a few cards weaved together, slowly rotate your right hand so that the backs of the cards slowly begin to face more towards the ground. At the same time, rotate your right hand away from you, so that the bottom of the pack slowly begins to face more towards you. Your right pinky should move towards your left pinky. Don’t forget to keep pressure with both index fingers. The move should almost riffle the two packs against each other, causing them to weave. As the weave begins to speed up, you may have to fitness the cards to be more upright or press the packs together with a bit more force in order to maintain a clean shuffle. This step may be a bit different for you, so you may have to experiment on which movements and rotations of the right pack work the best for you. I’m not sure if this will help anyone, I just know I was wishing for someone in the comments to give me a step by step, so when I figured it out for myself, I tried to write one for anyone else doing the same thing I was lol. Hopefully this helped someone learn

Note: Great practice tip for learning to split the deck evenly: practice in New Deck Order. 8 Out’s return the order, as Chris said. Learn which cards are at the center after each perfect faro. You can use these as a reference point. Putting a deck into NDO is also a g way way to practice culling :)
I’m new to this stuff, and I just want someone to give me some tips on how to practice this because right now I’m having trouble getting the cards to like weave into each other( I have tried turning the cards upside down it didn’t work same result occurred) the cards just don’t ripple as they are supposed to do. The Faro and Riffle Shuffles are two basic starting things to learn with cards. At first, I could not do them worth a damn. My hands aching, cards flying everywhere. My Riffle was a disaster at first. But just KEEP PRACTICING, and eventually you just get it. These moves require very fine muscle control/movements that is hard to describe. You just have to keep doing it. First day or two my hands ached and I got nowhere, then I woke up the next morning and was able to do it much better. A week later I was doing them really well. Just keep practicing!

I watched this video, probably when he first put it out, and it taught me to faro. Well I learned how, but I always had problems getting it perfect. It’s funny because I couldn’t figure out why my cards weren’t working out right at the top and I didn’t think rewatching this video would help, so recently I looked for other videos that might give me the extra tips I needed to get a perfect faro but none were helping. Finally I came back to this video and watched every detail and was able to correct my problems and get the perfect faro I’ve been looking for. I still have a lot of practicing to do of course, but I was able to figure out the little things I was doing wrong.

I'm such a huge fan of the perfect shuffle. I worked with a Mathematics professor in the past who completed his doctoral dissertation on the perfect shuffle and is one of 3 people in the world who can riffle-perfect shuffle. I witnessed him perform his dissertation trick once while performed in front of a class of 6th graders. The kids were mildly intrigued, but I was silently losing my shit! Haha.
It’s called a “Volitional Faro Shuffle”. There are tabled Faro Shuffles that can be done a few ways, but a Volitional Faro Shuffle is considered the “perfect riffle Shuffle”. :)

The Fero shuffle was constructed for the salon game Faro which was a card game played in doubles. After a round was played the doubles had to be broken up so a perfect integration of weaving cards were necessary to separate the doubles. But, and here is the caveat that it is also a good shuffle to control a deck outside of the game Fero.
Exactly 1,288 Days ago i watched this video, from that day i have tried many a time but only once managed to do the Faro shuffle, it has dawned on me as my one failure in cardistry from my time in high school, HOWEVER, after rewatching this video today i can confidently say i was a very stupid kid, way back when, i had missed the small curl you do and it had never crossed my mind, fast forward to today when i am rewatching this and noticed it. Pleased to say that within 20 minutes i can now do the faro shuffle with a mild 50% success rate POGU.

I did my first perfect faro shuffle thanks to your video! It's been a long time coming, but it now makes a lot more sense. (Okay. Watched this on Sunday to learn the faro shuffle. In-faro / out-faro, yeah yeah just show me how it’s done. I was having enough trouble just getting the cards to interleave. Been working on it this week, and just decided to do perfect shuffles until it came back to new deck order. 51 perfect shuffles later I now understand in-faro vs out-faro. ☺️
little details make all the difference, am just starting learning and have struggled with this for ages....... then watching this you mention about the way they are cut makes a difference in whether to start bottom up etc.... boom I got it! haha great vid

The faro shuffle is much easier than i thought it would be. The hard thing is to learn how to split the deck exactly in half to make this shuffle look perfect^^ Thanks for this tutorial and the background

Been practicing this a lot today. Never took the time to try and get this down. Took awhile but eventually was able to do the perfect faro 8 times to put back in new deck order. Now I just need to get quicker and more efficient at it!
For all those who complain about getting a new deck, I just did the shuffle with the oldest deck I have. I’ve been playing with this deck of bicycle cards for like a year already and I’m still able to do faro on them

Exactly 1,288 Days ago i watched this video, from that day i have tried many a time but only once managed to do the Faro shuffle, it has dawned on me as my one failure in cardistry from my time in high school, HOWEVER, after rewatching this video today i can confidently say i was a very stupid kid, way back when, i had missed the small curl you do and it had never crossed my mind, fast forward to today when i am rewatching this and noticed it. Pleased to say that within 20 minutes i can now do the faro shuffle with a mild 50% success rate POGU.
Thanks for this Chris Ramsay! I will try to incorporate some better shuffles in my own videos. I really appreciate how much in detail you went, including finger placement which helped a lot.

For fresh Bicycle cards, angle the split decks down into each other instead of angled up into each other. Worked perfectly after that.
I did my first perfect faro shuffle thanks to your video! It's been a long time coming, but it now makes a lot more sense. (Okay. I haven't done one since, but now I know it's a possibility and my faros are now 200% easier to do with only 3-4 cards out of place. Now all I need is practice, practice, practice...) Thanks, Chris! Watched this on Sunday to learn the faro shuffle. In-faro / out-faro, yeah yeah just show me how it’s done. I was having enough trouble just getting the cards to interleave. Been working on it this week, and just decided to do perfect shuffles until it came back to new deck order. 51 perfect shuffles later I now understand in-faro vs out-faro. ☺️
little details make all the difference, am just starting learning and have struggled with this for ages....... then watching this you mention about the way they are cut makes a difference in whether to start bottom up etc.... boom I got it! haha great vid

getting the card position using binary is probably one of the coolest things i've heard.

The faro shuffle is much easier than i thought it would be. The hard thing is to learn how to split the deck exactly in half to make this shuffle look perfect^^

Been practicing this a lot today. Never took the time to try and get this down. Took awhile but eventually was able to do the perfect faro 8 times to put back in new deck order. Now I just need to get quicker and more efficient at it!

For all those who complain about getting a new deck, I just did the shuffle with the oldest deck I have. I’ve been playing with this deck of bicycle cards for like a year already and I’m still able to do faro on them
Fun to use the faro shuffle to make a double fan and then have spectator pick a card. Use this all the time!
