    I honestly think Iverson could be the quickest and fastest player in NBA history. I mean he was ALL OVER the court in a blink of an eye and an unbelievable scorer at 5'11. Not to mention all the steals. 4.2 40yd dash

    I agree with you on the last part, he could have worked harder on his game and he rarely passed unless he got jammed up, but this guy did incredible things with that one move. He was so fast that once you decided to commit to a direction he would simply just go the other way. At "6 feet" averaging 26 and 6 per game and racking up over 24,000 points while shooting over 40% is pretty damn amazing.

  • @mikeenvisiondecisions5228
    @mikeenvisiondecisions5228 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    He seems like such a humble guy in the way that he was so focused on playing well rather than inflating his ego. You can see it in his face when he makes an incredible shot but just keeps his game face like he's focused on the coming moments of play. Sometimes he would get really pumped, too, but it usually didn't look like a "look at me" showboating display; he looks genuinely thrilled with what just happened!

    Great video.. I hate that the media outlets considers a "highlight" to be whenever a shot is made. I never seen some of these crossovers bc Iverson didnt finish at the end of most of them. Does that mean they aren't highlights? If Iverson would have never made the basket on MJ at the end of that crossover would that clip had been buried too? Great archive! thanks for editing this all together!! Also does anyone else notice that the refs barely called foul when Iverson drove the lane?? Im thinking they hated his persona at the time so they didn't care to call fouls in OBVIOUS situation.. Ok im done...

  • @BeatsBearsBattlestar
    @BeatsBearsBattlestar  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Alot of defenders did especially newer players because most of them grew up watching his move so much. Also defenses as a whole started to play Iverson to a side as opposed to straight up anyway because he was so quick. That and the carry whistle led to him sealing the move most of the time, though he did break it out every once in a while (toned down version of course)

  • @ia019283

    NBA Pro Scouts are pretty good. He could go left fine, he just preferred to do his type of crossover left to right. Grant Hill had a great crossover and his scouting report was right to left.

    To all those talking about the missed lay-ups, that's simply a function of editing, and Iverson being so early in his career in the majority of this clip.
    Someone could just as easily make a clip of Jordan in his first 6-7 years missing shots, but pressuring defenses at the same time.
    I think the OP was trying to show that even extremely early on in his career, Iverson could penetrate NBA defenses at will.
    That's what I take from the video. Feel free to debate / disagree if you like.

    I don't know about 40 ppg but it would have been crazy to see him play with a bigger body and the same speed, quickness and relentless attitude he had. He also played most of his prime before the big rule changes in 2004-05 season. He had most of his injuries before that time. Players before would just be really physical with him to slow him down.

    Nobody, I mean ABSOLUTELY NOBODY, could stop Ai3. He is the best little man to ever play the game. Best crossover of course. One of if not the most exciting player to play the game. And he was fearless! Stockton couldnt stop him. Nash couldnt stop him. Kidd couldnt stop him. In all respect, Jordan couldnt even stop him! Ai is Top3 best to EVER do it. All the facts are there. He worked with less. And he was underrated by his height and just murdered opponents. and ankles. There'll never be another like him to ever touch the court again. Not CP3. Not Westbrook. Not Rondo. Nobody! He was like Picasso with the ball. Str8 Art ! Ai3 The GOAT

    finally a logical reply. Obviously your right he was a great player. Im just saying as a mostly defensive player myself to reduce the chance of the inevitable i would guard him stronger left because he would be less likely to make the shot after. But at least three guys practically leaped off the screen when he faked left,

  • @Shive504

    for someone to stand 5'10 (because he was not 6'0) to come in the league with the speed and quickness he had and unleashing his crossover that was unstoppable A.I have to go down as one of the best ever.I love this video because it show you how deadly his crossover was and it show young players what to do and what not to do when using the crossover.my mom use to say"as long as the sun rise in east and set in the west;Iverson crossover will never be stopped"and she was right

    • @mortimerlivan557
      @mortimerlivan557 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you look at it, his crossover is always feint left to go right. As a defender, I would prefer him to go left and get help. The moment you try to cover what you think is him going left, say bye, bye to your ankles.

  • @joshvn715
    @joshvn715 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The crossover makes you play honest defense. Allen uses "the crossover" to decide where he wants to go and he wants to go right because nobody is going to stop him anyway. The crossover is like no-touch zone the offensive player can hide and plan his next move keeping his defender in air.
    If you cheat to side and try to force him or ... actually reach for that "hot fire" you end up splattered on the pavement. Allen is literally holding you in the air- ask David Wesley.

    Despite being on this list for supposedly getting his ankles broken, Ricky Moore was the only man on this entire list who could guard Allen Iverson. Moore was just as quick as AI, maybe even quicker. You should watch AI try to put the crossover on him on the final play of the Big East Tournament in 1996, and watch as Ricky Moore forces him into a fade away airball. Even AI said that Ricky Moore was the only man who was quick enough to guard him.
