Pues, thank you Philip. But English is my first language, as I was raised in the US. I have lived for over 40 years in Mexico, so that's why I now speak español. I'm glad that my videos are helping you to learn the language. I did not speak Spanish as a child, and only briefly studied it when I lived in Miami and was sort of forced to learn it by the management of a hotel where I worked as a telephone operator. Later, when I went to look for my biological mother in Tijuana, I loved Mexico so much that I began to live there full time. Quickly, in just a matter of months, I went from just an elementary knowledge of Spanish to becoming almost fluent. I did this by immersing myself 100% into the common colonias, living, playing, and well, doing other things with my friends, on almost a daily basis. I quickly learnt the common Mexican street Spanish, which nearly everyone in all of Mexico easily understand, although the language being a bit colorful, if you know what I mean. As the years went on, my Spanish became more refined and with a much greater amplification of words. So, the moral of the story is, if you really want to learn and become fluent in any language, just go live for about 6 months in the common neighborhoods, and try to mingle only with people who don't speak English. That way, by force, you will learn to communicate quite well. Saludos!
@@RishayanPorMexico I totally agree about immersion. I recently moved back to the states from Russia. I moved there in 1997 and taught English for more than 25 years. My Russian was really bad when I moved (I had studied it in college) but after a short time living there I became fairly fluent. I moved back to the states last year with my wife and daughters because of the war with Ukraine, and now work at a school in Texas. I have to admit I'm really hating the move back. The U.S. has changed beyond recognition, and life here in Texas is only good for the rich. I hate the lack of universal health care and the fact that all the expenses bleed me dry. I don't remember it being this bad back in the 90s. I'm over 50 now, and dream of moving somewhere else that has more security. I'm thinking about moving eventually to Mexico or some other country in Latin America to possibly retire and continue teaching English. My overly conservative relatives think I'm crazy because they think that Mexico is super dangerous, but I don't find it more dangerous than here, lol! I had no idea you were not a native speaker of Spanish. One of the reasons I like your videos is because you speak very clearly, and don't swallow or slur your words like some other speakers. Yes, you are right. The US has changed, and certainly not for the better. But then again, Mexico has also changed since I started living here 40 years ago. Some things for the better, and some things for the worse. Thank you for complimenting me on my spanish. It would probably be even better if I lived in the city and associated with better educated people. Most of my friends where I live speak a very limited and poor spanish, mostly because of the horrible schools we have here in the countryside. I could write a book about some of the things that have gone on in the school system here. Also, this is a heavily indigenous area, where spanish is a second language for many. As far as the danger goes, there is a saying here, Si buscas problemas, encuentras problems. This region that I live in is somewhat liked the old wild west in the US. It has become a bit more civilized today, but when I first started living here, it was quite wild. But I guess, in spite of the danger, that's why I liked it here. As long as you don't engage the people in a negative way, it's actually quite safe.
