Loved the original of this, and digged this mix as well. Heard it a couple of days ago in a hotel in Austria (very quiet background music in the reception area). Me and my wife looked at each other and both said "haven't heard this for donkeys years". Good old youtube, keeping old tunes fresh.Must dig out my original vinyl album and give it a spin. I think this came out just after the sheila E album that included Boys Club which was a better album from what i remember.
Taja made two more albums after this and co-wrote with Burt Bacharach... the debut album is the most consistent but tracks like 'Died Alive' and 'I & I' are great too. She was like Paisley Park's answer to Rickie Lee Jones but like most of the acts on the label was totally eclipsed by Prince's fame.
I heard this mix back in 1988 on a Dutch radio station. They mentioned that this mix was made by Bizzy B. I assumed back then it was Ben, but now finally after all these years here's the proof I was right all along :-) LOL
I remember DJs referred to this Liebrand remix on white labels as the Busy Bee (or whatever spelling) remix back then. That went on into 88 and I think 89.
Tony.. played this in tokeo joes,belfast.1991...i wanted to buy it of him..i offered him all i had....6 quid...he said no,,, i,m glad...everyone else go to hear it...spencer used to put it on...and i used to cry..........in a good way.......tony if you read this get in touch......its gary from east belfast,s mate..paul...the tall guy with long hair. increase the peace.
The original track, and the Ben Liebrand mix are from 87, not 88 as the video description says. This remix was for me by far the most memorable song from the summer of 1987. Gorgeous, a preview to the more well-known "Second Summer of Love". Hearing this song and others in 87 I knew something huge was coming along. What a point in time and space, 1987 to late 1992, United Kingdom particularly. Edited: However, like so much on the early house scene it is quite likely that Liebrand's mix, which was one of the central summer 87 house tracks, was unreleased during that year, just passed around in white labels, possibly even tapes (that happened often enough), by the 87 DJs.
Here in lockdown 2020...and it’s still a tune x
