The Glen of Aherlow is a valley between the Galtee Mountains and the Slievenamuck Hills in South County Tipperary. The glen is approximately 14 kilometres long by 3 kilometres wide. The rich agricultural land is used for dairy farming and beef fattening. Sheep farming is carried out on the slopes of the Galtee Mountains. Coniferous forests cover the Slievenamuck hills and the lower slopes of the Galtee Mountains.

The Galtee Mountains rise steeply from the surrounding land and are Irelands highest inland mountain range, Galteemore is the highest peak.
The local villages are Galbally, Lisvernane and Bansha.

We visited from Florida, USA in June/July 2017. The above video is excellent and covers a lot of the places we visited. My great great grandparents, William & Mary Casey MARKS, were from Lisvarinane. My great grandmother Jane Marks born July 1860 went to Newark NJ America in 1880 with sisters Mary & Susanna. She married James Lynch BORN IN DUBLIN at Sacred heart Church Bloomfield, NJ Dec 26 1888. We stayed at the Ballinacourty House B & B. It has the best restaurant in the area. Hosts are family members & work so hard! We were blessed to find our heritage info from ancestry.com. IRELAND WAS BEAUTIFUL & SAFE. PEOPLE SO FRIENDLY. GOD BLESSED THE IRISH IN MANY WAYS IN SPITE OF THE FAMINE. THEY NOW ACCOMPLISHED MORE THAN THE ENGLISH!
