Welcome MFAM!!! I quit CoD because of what they did to you. I pretty much quit Twitch for what they did to Doc. These Purple F**king Snakes won’t leave Doc alone…
Legal professional here to clear up some misinformation in this video and give some additional insight: 1. Dr. Disrespect didn't win a lawsuit, he reached a settlement. 2. If, in fact, Dr. Disrespect engaged in the criminal conduct alleged and Twitch knew about it and didn't go to the authorities, they could be liable in a lawsuit from the victim. 3. The use of legal jargon is probably so as to not violate the terms of the settlement. 4. The most likely reason a settlement was reached: Dr. Disrespect did talk to an underage person, but that person never told their age to him or led him to believe they were of legal age or Dr. Disrespect talked to an underage person, knew their age, but none of the conversations on the defunct Twitch messaging platform was overtly sexual, but were still about meeting and still kind of suspect. Twitch then jumped the gun and banned Dr. Disrespect. Dr. Disrespect's lawyers then explain to Twitch the full reality of the situation (whichever it may be) and now Twitch is on the hook for breach of contract. If Twitch were to just let Dr. Disrespect back on, they would almost assuredly have to explain the situation and Dr. Disrespect's case would have gone to the court of public opinion and the burden of proof in the court of public opinion is much lower than that in an actual courtroom. 5. Instead of making all this public, it was in the best interest of Twitch and Dr. Disrespect to cut ties, settle, and never speak of this again. 6. Former employees may feel some sort of way about Dr. Disrespect, but the reality is this guy is just doing what he can for personal gain using information that he may or may not have.
some more context Twitch banned him 3 years after the messaging happened. If I understand correctly you had to be 18 to use the whispers chat mean as well she lied about her age from the beginning to even have this situation occur.
@@bryancase2643 This is not true. You don't have to be 18 to use Whispers or be an affiliate if you have a parental agreement to monetization for the affiliate program. You only have to be 13
An important aspect of all of this that you did not cover: the ex twitch employees are possibly activists that were/are out to get dr disrespect for political reason. We have all seen this play out in the past, with them relying on lying, exaggeration, and ambiguous statements to "cancel" someone.
My ex wife accused me of breaking her wrist and now I feel like dying instead of taking her to court to see my daughter I haven’t seen in about 6 years. I’m tired of all of it. Lies, nothing is sacred, nothing matters. Served 9 years to have my 2A rights stripped and almost made a felon for the crime of owning an AR-15 I didn’t register or nerf yet after only being there for 8 days. I lost my vheicle, almost lost my service dog and now I’ve lost all hope. We go fight for your freedom and you assholes take it while we’re gone.
@@kidneystonermusic I hope this was a joke. The point, which I thought was really clear, is that if someone makes an accusation that a human violated a law and such an accusation can damage that person's livlihood/social standing, the accuser should be equally subject to legal inquiry. I agree. Why? T1A is limited in the United States. Libel/Slander are civil issues which cause real and measurable harm. Calls to action are felony level crimes which cause real and measurable harm (See: Inciting a mob). Illicit images of a minor are illegal because they cause real and measurable harm. See how all of the above are qualifiable and quantifiable? Such is the same with false accusations.
Dr. Disrespect has made a post about acknowledging the accusations. He said he did message a minor inappropriately but said nothing illegal was going on which is still sus.
Sus or not, it could be even considered borderline legal, very inappropriate for sure but still not illegal. The question remains, why would Twitch settle and pay his full contract if there was hard evidence of something illegal going on? It just doesn't make any sense. Cody milked the cow until it was dry and out of spite he posted those opinions without proof to support them.
He did not say "inappropriately". He said something along the lines of "borderline inappropriate," which is different. He also did not specify whether or not the text messages were of a sexual nature. For all you know he was talking to an underage boy about their mutual love for large breasts.
The worst part about this whole thing, is there are NO FACTS or evidence to support the claims. They ruined this man’s spot in an organization over claims that could totally be false. The dude who started then selling tickets to his shows from the attention.
I'm not familiar with the messaging service, but a lot of services (at least now) don't store messages as a security measure. So the initial question would be evidence. Then whether the twitch employee would have been involved with the incident - or is relaying second hand information. And it seems odd if Twitch allows randoms to release information. And if he only skated on a technicality, then Twitch and Cody would be in the situation of endangering the public for the sake of money. It seems like a messy murky situation. (depending on the technology, if a company said 'oh we were reading your emails and we found some weird stuff', admitting the weird stuff would be an acknowledgement of a privacy violation and a technology product being a surveillance mechanism. That was why I was curious about the details of the platform. And other platforms don't store data - so they can't be force to turn it over to the feds. So the details of the technology and how the claim came to light, seem relevant)
If he had done it, Twitch wouldnt have paid him a dime. And yet they were forced to buyout his contract in full. Also, the law wouldve gone after him years ago had he actually done anything. Just more proof that they will completely destroy a man over nothing but lies for clicks.
Honestly because of how many innocent men have had their lives ruined thanks to false accusations of the MeToo movement, I no longer have it in me to care when a woman comes forth with an accusation. Instead my sympathy is with the men unless court proves them guilty, and it better be very good evidence at that. Women are losing sympathy and they only have themselves to blame
This an conspiratorial attack generated by the woke lefties in twitch and the games journalism industry do tear down a whit based male pillar of the gaming community that has refused to ben the knee to the woke agenda .
Best comment. I honestly think it's useless, at this point. If you want to stay up-to-date on your old friends and extended family members (which is what social media used to be for), then save their phone number and _call them sometimes!_ Or text them! It feels more personal anyway to keep up with your friends and family that way. There is no point to social media anymore, and there hasn't been for a while. It's just people posting stuff about their lives to make themselves feel like the main character.
@@jaughnekowno, Social Media as a concept should've remained a concept. The lack of privacy from individuals with different backgrounds, cultures, and mindsets attack individuals on the opposing sets. Social Media is the greatest tool for division on the planet. And the greatest form of manipulation under a unifying social identity. It's dangerous.
How? Still not found anything illegal. Just immoral.... Referring to a 17 year old as a child....Yes technically still a minor. But in many countries the age of consent is lower and so on.
@@ShrekThePimptexting a minor inappropriately is illegal. And it’s immoral as you said. Why are you defending this? He ADMITTED to it. He was 35. It doesn’t matter if she turned 18 tomorrow, the age gap is WEIRD. AND he’s married with a child. For a family man, he was going to throw it all away. He’s a pedo and a cheater.
@@ardellandaya1965I agree that Doc is wrong for what he did but that doesn’t make him a pedo. Pedophilia is a disorder in which a person feels attraction towards a pre-pubescent child. We need to use these terms appropriately. An 18 yr old having an attraction towards a 16 or 17 year old isn’t a pedo. A 25 or 35 having that same attraction doesn’t make them a pedo either. It’s weird given the age difference but that’s not pedophilia.
In the US, the age of consent in most states is actually 16. That give the person the right to consent to sexual activity with someone 16 or older. (Some states are 17 and the rest 18). Unfortunately for Doc, the federal age of content is 18. Any time you are communicating online that’s a federal jurisdiction and it is a felony to communicate sexually with anyone under 18 if you are 18 or above.
Had he broke the law, Twitch would not have been forced to buyout his contract in full. And the law wouldve been going after him years ago. Just another man having their life destroyed thanks to lies from drama farmers.
That means that no employment or discrimination laws were broken by Twitch, and that Dr Disrespect did not cause his own termination. Both parties agreed that what Twitch did was within the law, just against the terms of the contract.
@@everythingpony If Twitch had those goods they would have paid him nothing. Every corporate legal department I know of would have been, "Go ahead. We're willing to go to court because it will be cheaper and all this stuff will come out publicly in discovery." Outside counsel would have been cheaper than what they paid him.
Yeah? - what if the reason they found his wrongdoing was their wrongdoing on reading private messages? In that case they might basically both agree to say ok we did it, but so did you. - so you don’t call us out to cause giant damage to the company ( Amazon / twitch ) and we’ll forget what we seen from you on sexting a minor. They shook 🫱🏻🫲🏼 ( firm handshakes all round 🤭) and he got to keep his whole contract as a sweetener while he re-built his audience. While they had been relieved of damaging liability & reputation damage of their product. As a precaution two way NDA’s were signed with a strict non comment policy. Which would run a certain amount of time from the incident. On the outside it’s two entities that fell out over something money related & though there was questions. It was in both parties interests to remain silent on the matter. Doc keeping up his tough guy persona said something about sue ing Twitch. But he knew it was nonsense & it was quickly forgotten. But NDA’s have an end date. & humans like attention. So staff who were involved or heard about it 1st hand. They are going to talk. 🤷🏻♂️

This, because right now, there are only two options. He did solicit from a minor and twitch has covered it up. Or this guy is lying about Dr. Disrespect. Which is more likely? He committed a felony and a trillion dollar company amazon is covering it up, or a guy is lying to get clout.

One good thing about being a man in this society is its super easy to disappear and stay invisible. Just make sure to do it before the false allegations start pouring in as they try to keep you under their thumb....
Thats what I understand too. If it involves a minor, no amount of NDA will cover it up. It was the easy move by twitch, cut his contract, tell the authorities what happen and doc will be in jail.
Update: Dr. Disrespect made a statement on X that there were messages exchanged between a minor and they sometimes would lean into inappropriate territory. I am so disappointed. I didn’t take any sides until more info was out but now, this is really depressing. This video was made and produced a bit too early. I wouldn’t blame you if you take this vid down and post an update one.
If he admitted it in the context you’re saying he did then he’s a class 2 felon and on the register list, which he’s not, because no illegal wrongdoing was found, so what exactly are you saying he admitted? Do you think?
The thing is no case was brought to him? Why did twitch payout his contract? I mean usually in an NDA the one that was wrong pays. Why didnt twitch bring this to court? Or at least contact the authorities? These things are telling me that theres more to it.
@@FPSniper00 Morally, it was wrong. Just because a lawsuit didn’t happen doesn’t mean something bad didn’t happen either. Regardless, he messaged a minor. We don’t know the context of those messages however, messaging any underage fan or associate is inappropriate. Dude also has a wife and kid.
Something very similar, happened to one of my favorite singers. He was part of a boy band and left due to personal reasons, but after he left suddenly there was people saying he sexually assaulted and bullied the members of the band. Of course there was no evidence for either, and there’s plenty of reason to believe that this did not occur. Yet a bunch of people online paint him as a villain. It is believed that these accusations stemmed from fans who were angry that he left. These angry fans have made it incredibly hard for him and have virtually destroyed his reputation. It is incredibly frustrating to me that angry, Nobody’s online have so much control.
i hate how people were just so ready to jump on the hate wagon and overanalyse literal normal clips of him with the members, like what do you get by ruining someone's life and career like that? it pisses me off so much that people on the internet think they can do whatever tf they want and get away with it.
@@PossessedGaming07 there was nothing preventing him just coming out and saying he didn't do it before instead of hiding behind legal talk, of course now we know why.
I don't like the guy, but it seems... odd. Mainly because of: - He got the contract paid in full after the acusation was settled in court. Something the TOS says legally he wouldn't be able if wrond doings were proven... - He literally can't speak because of his NDA. - The twitch staff literally used the info as leverage to gain social media presence + Joked about catfishing a big streamer once and gotting him banned. Suspicious, to say the least.
It likely was that the 17 year old, wherever they were from are likely of legal consent. However they settled in court as to not release names to the public. So it's just bad optics and makes doc look creepy.
That's my guess. Initially his lawyers probably advised him against keeping this going with a lawsuit and to issue a statement and let things blow over. Then he was fired from his own company and damages were enough to justify a lawsuit. That message that ended his stream was probably from his lawyers telling him to cease public appearances.
Woah I was not expecting that ending. Yeah, this is why we need to wait at least a week for all the info to come out before we try to cast judgement in these internet dramas. Time to make sure our seatbelts are still on cuz it seems this roller coaster is much longer than we thought.
Agreed. Same thing with the Kansas City Chiefs player Harrison Butker. People heard his speech to the college graduates at Berkeley, and immediately took to social media and wrote their opinions. But the real explanation of his speech was revealed sometime later. We as a nation often jump to conclusions before understanding both sides of the story. It’s sad but true.
The doc is so famous and rich he could literally pick up any woman so yeah, I don't believe he was going purposefully after a minor. I could believe that he was messaging a woman he did not know was a minor. Even 20 years ago teenage girls would constantly lie about their ages. That's far more believable than him knowingly talking to a minor. I mean, young women are extorting rich and famous men literally daily nowadays. That, to me, is FAR MORE believable. If he was knowingly doing that particular thing then twitch wouldn't be inclined to have his contract paid out in full as that would be grounds to end his contract without paying. But if they did an internal and found that the young woman was lying or intentionally not being forthcoming or was making the moves on him first then he wouldn't be at fault. You honestly can't be at fault when someone is knowingly misleading you into a crime.
@@Jennthegreen asking women for their IDs make them feel offended. If women didn't get so offended by such easy questions, more men would do it. If he got paid out for is contract in Court then guess what, he didn’t do anything wrong! If he had there is no way they are forced to basically accept fault on his removal and pay his entire contract out.
It settled out of court, but if Twitch had that kind of evidence they would have taken it to trial because that info would come out to the public during discovery and would have destroyed Dr. Disrespect.
Nothing adds up with these Dr Disrespect accusations. Why is nobody talking about the child's parents? The minor who Doc supposedly messaged, the child's parents never came forward, reported to the police or they wasn't told by Twitch. Also, how does Twitch know the child's age? Do you have to be over 18 to stream on Twitch? Any parent would make this public from the beginning of all of this, no parent would be keeping this hush and we are pushing 4 years since the situation happened.
I agree about the parents. Sadly what is in our heads about what parents should or should not do is not the reality. There are a lot of parents that shouldn’t be parents.
Ok, in what way? In an innocuous way? Bc ppl of all ages did that on the internet forever on forums and chats and such. Or was it in an inappropriate and predatory way that requires his reputation to be destroyed?
Women falsely accusing is the main reason why people tend to not believe women when it comes to abuse or assault. Like how do we know what u said is true.

So I think there are 2 options 1: a fan messaged him and wanted to meet him at twitch con for a picture and he agreed and some woke idiot at twitch read his messages and made a big deal out of it leading to these issues. This would explain the lawsuit payout and twitch covering it up. 2: he was sexing someone who he either didn’t know was a minor or they lied saying they were an adult and once he realized he immediately stopped. Idk if this would mean he could say no wrong doing with how legal stuff works but it’s possible?
Don't forget that Twitch was " Woke Central", in this day....I doubt he did anything wrong and they ended his contract to just bury their wrong doing and the public embarassment ta boot !

While I didn't work on Trust and Safety, I can say as a former Twitch employee that if Twitch had concrete evidence that he did what is being accused then Twitch would have contacted the FBI as they have a team specifically to deal with matters that require law enforcement. Given that no charges have been filed as of this post, there's only one of two possibilities: either Twitch had circumstantial evidence that the FBI or the US Attorney's Office determined wasn't strong enough to pursue a case, or there was no evidence and the other former employees are lying for clout.

@@kidneystonermusic Well, you should be good anyway. As to whether you should be a girl...
Cody milked the cow until it was dry and out of spite he posted those opinions without proof to support them.

there never is with these me too style cases all accusations no facts

Has the doc admitted that he continued messaging the girl after he found out her age? Because that to me is the nail in the coffin

Dang, i just learned about this about an hour ago, now even Brett is talking about it. This went from 0 to 100 real quick for me. The weekend got crazy.
Whelp, this didn't age well.
Through no fault of brett’s own, let’s be real. The dude who ousted this information was highly shady (I mean, really, telling people to buy your stuff so you would continue to provide information on what you yourself claimed to be a case of outright morally reprehensible behavior?), and with so many false accusations going around it’s really difficult to sus out which have any truth in them. This whole situation has been handled horribly. I just hope he doesn’t get to come back, this man belongs no where near a young and impressionable audience
Will she admit she was wrong and that doc is just a dirty old man? hell no.

But not in the context that you guys are saying he did. This is getting old to read and is a super low intelligence reply. No wrongdoing or illegal activity was found. So what did he admit to..?
@@FPSniper00 he admitted it in a tweet that he was speaking to a minor in the context of which he is being accused of. Look, it's not complicated at all. He's never said nothing happened because that is the opposite of what is true.

So someone else is gonna get hammered by lawsuits.
After making some comments on-stream, Dr Disrespect finally issued an official statement admitting to having talked to a minor via Whispers with conversations that "leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate," in his words.
Disrespect.
@@KirkFickertyeah, you’re right. They wouldn’t have settled under these conditions, it would have put Twitch in a really bad place.
@@cynicalenough2355no there are a few people who shouldn’t be parents. Most parents are pretty normal. Most people are normal.

Women falsely accusing is the main reason why people tend to not believe women when it comes to abuse or assault. Like how do we know what u said is true.

@@majorbombasyup, glad people are starting to wake up to this fact
So I think there are 2 options
1: a fan messaged him and wanted to meet him at twitch con for a picture and he agreed and some woke idiot at twitch read his messages and made a big deal out of it leading to these issues. This would explain the lawsuit payout and twitch covering it up.
2: he was sexing someone who he either didn’t know was a minor or they lied saying they were an adult and once he realized he immediately stopped. Idk if this would mean he could say no wrong doing with how legal stuff works but it’s possible?

This video has aged like a fine, vintage glass of milk. Dr. Disrespect just admitted to the allegations and has not denied knowing that they were a minor. So all of you can stop mindlessly defending this man now.
Most people aren't defending him. People are asking for the evidence of the claim. Which is what everyone should do with information. Just because later on more information has come out. Doesn't mean people aren't able to adapt their opinion. Why does this even need to be explained ? Lol
@@chrisbrown113096 Practically the entire comment section was talking about how these were false accusations and how this is somehow tied to political corruption. Except it’s not defamation when it’s true…
While I can't say one way or the other if the allegations are true or not, this is definitely best handled by the legal courts rather than the court of public opinion given the severity of the allegations.
Surprise surprise he did message a minor, he admitted to it, so will we get an update to this story?

The worst part is that it's not the first time a content creator has been falsely accused of sexually abusing a minor. The most alarming aspect is that people often believe the story simply because they read a tweet, heard something from someone, or directly believed the accuser due to their young age or personal dislike of the creator.
Even if the accused are not imprisoned, their careers and reputations are still ruined. There should be real legal consequences for those who lie about these kinds of things.
People should understand that consequences exist, even for actions taken on the Internet.
Great video Brett ❤

Twitch fired Doc cause they thought he was talking to a minor. That is the part Cody heard, but he didn't hear the follow up or negligently chooses to ignore it. Then turns out they were wrong and that Doc didn't actually talk to a minor making this not a criminal case. Doc sued Twitch for wrongful termination and won, and Twitch had to pay him out. They both signed an NDA. Doc signed cause he wouldn't want to associate "talking to a minor" with his name cause even when not true such allegation stick with you, tarnishing his name. Twitch signed the NDA cause it would get out that they were reading Whisper chats and that they fired Doc under false allegations, making them look bad.
And this dude named Cody is an idiot who has been trying for over a year to cash in on "telling the truth" but doesn't say anything until after he gets verified on blue version of Twitter/x and doc has started his own game studio? It reminded me of the case with Chris Avellon, one of the best story teller in games. Against the background of the metop movement, they turned on him and destroyed his career, but even when he won in court and it turned out that the woman accusing him only wanted them to move from the relationship of friends with benefits to a new level of relations. He refused and now his career is destroyed and I don't think I've seen him anywhere else in major games.
