I have an unusual guitar that I bought used in 83 or 84. it is a bolt on Japanese copy of a Les Paul made by Kopy Kat. the hardware was terrible, so I replaced everything, the tuning pegs, I put Pearly Gate pickups on it, Gibson bridge setup, replaced the wiring and pots and switch and the neck and the action is unbelievable. has a lot of inlays around the neck looks really nice. It plays better then most Les Pauls I have played. Have you seen anything like this? I tend to believe it was made in the 70's

I've been watching your show for a few years... I would just like to say congratulations..!! You've come a long way.. I remember when you first started talking about Les Paul's and mispronouncing them as Lez Pauls..You really have worked very hard to get to this point and I've always admired your honesty and transparency..
I will admit that I'm a die-hard Gibson Guy and haven't really watched much of your content on non Gibson instruments. But for some odd reason I would love to see you getting more into Gretschs..
I'm 50 years old and my fascination with Gibson started when I was about 12 years old.. other than books or if you were lucky enough to know somebody who had first-hand Gibson knowledge, information was very very hard to come by in the 80s and 90s..
I appreciate your show very much and admire all your hard work and look forward to Troglys 2021

There are millions of guitars in the world. 40 of them being preserved and enjoyed for their historical value outside of being played doesn't bother me at all.

Please review my favorite guitars of 1983-1986 Fujigen Fender Squire Stratocaster or Telecaster JV or E-Series Guitars. They were low cost freaks of nature at the time. In 85/86 my "Heavy" Blonde E-Series 52 Re-issue Telecaster was $268.00 out the door in San Diego. I went to the store expecting to pay around $650.00 - $1000.00 for the top models at the time. While comparing guitars over a couple of days of playing, the Squire won out over high priced Fenders. My "52" is in excellent player grade condition. 30+ years and still bragging about my purchase! As he rang up my purchase, the guitar shop nerd/pro giggled and smirked, like I was an idiot for buying a "Squire!"

I confess! I loved 2020. A year of guilt free working on improving my playing from reasonably good to stellar! I started a 3 piece power trio doing a Prog Metal thing with my wife a former Jazz tenor sax player vocalist who had switched to bass a year ago. She also put the time in to go from a novice to a polished pro. With 23 original tunes written and becoming polished up to a live thing I expect in a few months to add a drummer. It certainly looks like most of 2021 is going to be another locked down year. Perfect for me :-)

Happy New Year, Trogly! Thanks for another year of fun and informative content. You are largely responsible for my renewed interest and appreciation for Gibson guitars after years of Fender fanboy-dom. A devotee of the Explorer in my early days, I now see the value of Les Pauls. My next guitar purchase is a coin flip between the two, and I know a Firebird is going to appear down the pipeline eventually. Can't say how much I look forward to the daily Trogly update. Best wishes for a safe, healthy, and productive 2021 to you and yours. Sincerely.

I feel for collectors, as they will never be happy with what they currently have. They will always seek something they don't have and never fully appreciate one guitar at a time.

@@gregs8685 agree.. but its a weird, ever-changing market... all it takes is one famous (or semi-famous) musician to start playing an oddball guitar and that guitar’s price on the used market sky-rockets.... dan auerbach from the black keys single handedly brought the guild thunderbird back to life... thats just an example

I've become a P-90 fanatic. I have four Les Pauls, three of them have P-90s and the third has P-94s (humbucker-sized P-90s). My two recording amps are old tube amps (one from 1967 and one from 1952) and P-90s sing through them like nothing else ... maybe except for Gretsch Filtertrons. Those are my go-to's: P-90s and Blacktop Filtertrons.
