  • This is a free Tutorial on posing a newborn for photography. This tutorial shows how to safely and securely pose a newborn doing the Bum up pose. It also shows the soothing techniques that I am using to calm this baby.
This Tutorial is the first of a 3 part series showing how to do 3 separate poses. This pose will transition into the side lying pose in the video to follow. The next video will be posted within the next few days!
It's a very hard industry to start out in, Newborn Photography. So I am hoping that by sharing some tips and tricks through my own experience, I can help some of you.
Please note that I am using a Dog bed for this posing tutorial. I will link everything that I am using. Some are affiliate links, but others are not. I try to support the hard working vendors in this industry. It's hard to know who you can trust when ordering from and guarantee that the product will be good. Here are some of the vendors that I can recommend!

Are you using the dog bed for newborns? If so, can you please list the advantages. 😊

Reason I’ve ditched my bean bag:
      1. This allows me to work without back pain
      2. It’s small and easy to store, I usually flip it up against a wall when I’m done
      3. It’s got a built in frame and works perfectly for tucked in pose
      4. I can stand over it to achieve certain poses with ease
Those are just the quick things that come to mind.
This would also be the perfect option for traveling newborn photographers since its light weight

@@momtogeducate with the dog bed, do you have to simply sit or do you have to lay on the floor for your great face on photography shots? Thanks!! Awesome videos!

    Why do you use flash?

    • @momtogeducate
      @momtogeducate  5 ปีที่แล้ว

It creates soft consistent lighting rather then natural light. We live in a gloomy area with little natural light

@@momtogeducate Flash is not good for baby health. You are supposed to use continous light.

Most of my clients are doctors and nurses, many whom work with obstetrician, labour and delivery. I’m sure that you understand the light is at the lowest power and diffused with a thick fabric, there is minimal light flowing onto these newborns.
You must also understand that I photograph newborns asleep. No eyes open. Safety is always a top priority.
This is also a very high quality lighting system. Because of this fact, it allows a very low power setting.
