Erina: What do you mean, Ribbon? Ribbon: Well, a ton of things open up when you finally meet your master, so it's not that suitable for the demo. So the story mode demo ends here! Erina: B-But doesn't the game really begin once I find Master in Rabi Rabi Town? We didn't even get to explore and learn new things yet! Do I ever get any aerial attacks? Ribbon: You actually do, but it's not like there aren't other things to do right now. You can try the Boss Rush mode, where you can battle a gauntlet of bosses. You also get to meet characters not included in the demo. Give it a try! Erina: Is that so? Then it can't be helped... I'll just hang around until I'm ready... Ribbon: So you're not actually going to go anywhere? I thought you were going to find your master... Anyways, thanks for picking up the demo version! Erina: Yep, thanks for playing! Wait, what about Ribbon's friends?

Well in case you didnt know the demo files are included in the steam version, in data/area/demo, i havent looked too deep into it but they dont work very well with the current build. The maps look glitched and some events dont work at all. My guess is they changed things around and broke some of them. They work ok in the demo build though. The demo only includes a few maps but the demo folder in the steam version has more maps, but most of them are empty. Dont worry because theres no rabi rabi town at all, the map is empty and if you try entering you just fall to your death. Also if you rename area8 to area0 you can start at the hospital. Though theres no dialogs and it crashes on the third floor just before miru's room. If you want to edit the map a bit you can skip that part and go directly into miru's room, which after trigerring the usual events it begins the boss battle but miru has no AI and also the sprite and background are completely different. After you wait for her to die you can go where noah is and it will trigger and take you to the boss section but theres no floor so you fall, and if you add the collision so that you dont fall through the floor it will just crash after the missing dialog. If you edit the event preventing you from leaving the hospital theres a alius battle but it has no sprite so its transparent, and it just stays there and if kill her the game does nothing so basically soft locked. (btw the entrance to the hospital is different) Its clear that they were somewhat further in development than what the demo shows, they just cut most out or wasnt finished.
Interesting. It does make sense the hospital is still somewhere in there since it is shown in the intro on this demo. The alius part sounds a bit creepypasta-ish lmao I love it. Anyyway yeah it’s interesting to know roughly how much was actually in development at the time.
@@flariz4824 Theres a lot of unused stuff in the final build too. The cut boss fight in the artbook in the piramid is still there, you can even trigger it if you clip through one of the walls using cheat engine to kind of fly around. The piramid seems like it was way bigger, it even had a quick man lasers part like in the final memory hall before erina. Makes me kind of wish someone would make a restoration mod or something. Id do it myself but i dont have free time until 2025 or so :/ The map editor and the events and all look basic enough, like what you'd expect in 99% of 2d games. The only thing missing (or that i missed) would be adding custom events, though there was a part about adding custom dialogues so maybe it was that. Most unused rooms have collision and tiles data, a few only have collision and a couple only have the events left (the only way to know there was ever a thing there.) Theres even an alternative path just before Erina which looks almost finished and imo would most likely be a boss fight with the 4 spectral bunnies you see before Erina. Also btw you need to change the roomtype to single room for most places so that the camera wont stay in the previous room. 99% of the unused rooms are set to "unused" so that the camera wont move when you jump outside the frame. (That "glitch" where the sounds effects stop and some layers change color when jumping above the camera is actually the game changing rooms to an unused room type)
Yeah, I know of someone interested in sort of restoring old content but it’s quite hard to mod in general in this game from what I have heard (And they don’t have much free time these days). In any case, that is very interesting information, I love trivia stuff like this, thanks for sharing!
For the most part this game was practically the same as the final product! Just a few differences and some sprites that I don't remember existing in the final thing, such as the crystals in Ribbon's boss room... I haven't played Rabi-Ribi in a while though so, maybe I'm just remembering things wrong, though the candelabras in the pyramid definitely don't exist in the final version!
I am more curious about the map itself and the room changes such as the toxic strike path not existing at this point. But because walljump doesn’t exist it really really limits what you can do... I also really would like to know the idea behind these unused badges. For some reason Auto-Trigger is also missing.
@@flariz4824 It is only a demo and it seems it was created somewhat early in the development of the game, so those things either just hadn't been implemented yet or haven't even been thought up yet.

Is there a way to still get this Demo? The link in the description is dead, so.
AFAIK I have no clue, you might have better chances asking on a discord probably.
@@flariz4824 I don't use Discord, and don't plan on it, so whatever. Thanks anyway.

The Demo Link give me an 404 error, sadly (But this is a nice game, i already have the full version but i'm Curious to see the demo)
That is a shame, sadly I dont know where else to get the demo. That is a very old link.
hm i see, sad but it is what it is
