This park used to be my home park but personally it will always be. My first coaster bizzaro I was scared and my older brother carried me to the seat and set me down and they locked me in. Ever since then I loved rollercoasters and became an low key enthusiast.
As my original home park, I basically grew up there. I was there at least 2x a year from age 5 into my mid 20's. I miss rides like Rolling Thunder and Lightning Loops, but they have developed a solid coaster lineup over the years. One thing I'm saddened by is the fact that they removed the drive through aspect of the Safari and the baboon section. It was a family tradition to watch those crazy monkeys basically ruin entire lines of vehicles unless you fed them. Bending your antenna, peeing on your windshield and so much more. It was like playing roulette and everyone just hoped it wasn't their car that the baboons set their sites on. It was truly epic. It blows my mind that entire generations of people will never get to experience that. Aaaaaanyhoo... another great vid man. Keep em comin!
My favorite six flags park has a great coaster collection and has the most b&m coaster and el toro one of the best wooden coaster but I like green lantern
Green lantern is not a roller coaster, it’s a torture device. If your a man you have to choose between crushing your balls or destroying your legs. It’s a sick game where you have to spread out the pain as much as possible and it negates everything good about the coaster
I loved this park on my visit! It almost became my new favorite Six Flags park. Only because of Iron Rattler, do I have Fiesta Texas ahead of it. I liked every coaster at Great Adventure. It was a very pretty park. Since I have the dining plan, I ate at several locations during my 3 days. Great service, friendly staff, and far more options than normal for a Six Flags park. The sea lion show was fun, and I enjoyed seeing all the animals. I got to spend most of my Great Escape day with an El Toro ride op, and he told me how they are held to a higher standard at the park, and they strive for excellence. They will do all they can to have every ride open every day, and have them all ready to go when the park opens, and that's not normal for a Six Flags park.
I love this park because A. It’s my home park, being approx. 15 min, B. I go there more than 10x a year, and C. I don’t wait that long for rides because of flash passes. A record holding park with good rides and great service.
I appreceate your kind words about the employees. Most of us are nice but some can be pretty rude. But anyway, the reason that path was closed is because toward the end of the night the six flags has a "block party" of sorts and that's the area where they bring alot of the characters through. This is because right behind the fence next to justice league is one of the trailers where the entertainment people and costume characters are located.
I adore this park more than ever now since they’re getting a new coaster. I love this park. My favorite ride is El Toro even though it scares me a lot. Green Lantern isn’t really a bad ride though. I had a good time.
I hear great things about El Toro constantly, and Dragster was one of my favorite rides at Cedar Point, so Kingda Ka is likely great as well. I've been thinking of making the trip out there. It just seems like a lot of effort when there's likely going to be long lines for those two highlights. For enthusiasts, would it be better to plan a longer trip and hit all the major parks in the area across a week?
It all depends on what you prefer. If you wanna hit a bunch of parks all in one week, go for it! Some can't handle that much in a week so know your boundaries.
Great and thorough review! I am going to try to get to Six Flags Great Adventure either in 2020 or 2021. I have not been to a six flags park yet. The drive for me to great adventure is roughly 7.5 hours. Also, tickets at the gate at cedar point are $73. I always tell people though, kind of like you said, you would have to be CRAZY to spend gate price!!!
Coaster Daddy Kind of a trade off to being close to Cedar Point and Kings Island is the fact that the typical Six Flag cloned coasters (B&M invert, Flying, & S&S Free Spin) are sort of tough credits to get for someone in the Cleveland area. My closest Six Flags parks (America & Darien Lake) don't have any of these but both have a so-so Intamin hyper clone and a Vekoma slc. In fairness, I should mention SF Great America is 1 minute closer to Cleveland's Public Square than SF America and they have all the "good" clones, but at 5 hours on the other side of Cedar Point I'd still consider these credits a bit elusive.
@@timk987 Yes. Darien Lake is closest to me at 4.5 hrs and Great America is about 5.5 hrs. I would like to travel to Darien Lake as well next year since it is fairly close. Great America is actually the Six Flags park I want to visit the most though. I think it looks like a great park with a spectacular coaster lineup! I live 35min east of CP by the way. Basically half way between CP and Cleveland.
@@coasterdaddy7123 Watch the Darien Lake (or Great America, if you'd rather that be your "home park") website around announcement time. They might have another "Flash Sale" until labor Day. That's how I got my 2019 SF season pass for like $65. That was for a "Batman" level gold pass which included free parking at all SF parks and a souvenir bottle w/free refills all year. They had deals for passes and memberships for all different budgets with different add-ons like food and Flash Pass (SF version of fast lane/pass). You have to be able to pick it up before the end of the 2018 season, but it's good at all parks from that point on. I have some "bring-a-friend free" admissions for Sept. I'd offer you, but if you get your own pass you won't need me!
Kind of miss the layout of great american scream machine in this park before it got replaced by green lantern..It was so pretty to look at back then when you entered the parking area
Interesting, I haven’t been there in a long time. You used to be able to drive through the Safari in your own vehicle. You tuned in your radio to a specific station and a narrator would talk you through all of the different sections. They even had a monkey by-pass road, lol! I had plans to go this year with my kids, but Covid is making that unrealistic. Next year, and then the Jersey Devil will be open, too! Can’t wait to ride that coaster!!! I will miss seeing the Scream Machine there - a classic ride, yes - slightly rough - but so much fun. 😃
Great adventure is my home park and from what I’ve noticed since like 2015 it’s been a little ridiculous with security but still so happy it’s my home park. Best six flags park in my opinion. El Toro just beats any other Coaster in the SF chain
Lol great adventure staff are great, until the park closes. I don’t know why but they really turn into terminators once the park closes it’s a thing and it’s weird
Since I've gotten back into coasters and such, I've made it a priority to visit Great Adventure once or twice a year (for me, it's a 2 hour 45 minute drive up from Maryland; hee hee . . . I can get up to 75 mph going up 295 in New Jersey).
I live 20 mins from the park, had season passes every year growing up, and even worked at fright fest in high school, and i agree with everything you said!
I have been to this amusement park multiple times. While it is still awesome...I wish the Green Lantern ride wasn't here. I had fond memories of the enjoyable but flawed American Scream Machine and to have Green Lantern replace it was very disappointing. (At least Dark Knight hides its stupidity inside a building! Green Lantern is the first coaster you see in front of the parking lot!)
Yeah, Six Flags Great Adventure looks like a carnival from the parking lot. Though it is a little cool to see so many coasters from the parking lot. Ive ridden Great American Scream Machine also and both coasters went good picks IMO. 🙃
Im visiting this year, and actually i need some advice... When would be the best day to visit? We plan on visiting multiple times this summer so we are getting a season pass, but the dates are confusing. Would weekdays work best? or some other day? Also any specific ride orders? or does that not matter? Thanks! Anyways Great video! thumbs up from me!
Weekdays are always best, should be less crowded. As for which coasters to hit up first, I suggest getting Kingda Ka right away if its running. Both Superman and Green Lantern get long lines so I suggest hitting them up first.
I was going to go to great adventure when visiting relatives but we never got to it. I’m not upset because I’ll eventually go there the next time I travel up there because I have a reason to
I can explain the reason for the strange shape of the park, having been going to there from opening season. The current entrance is not the original. When the park first opened, the entrance was in the Plaza de Carnival area.
@@alecvip7562 Well the 2 oldest rides in the park, Mine Train and Log Flume would have been straight ahead. Also, when the park opened a large number of the rides were the kind found at carnivals mounted on concrete foundations instead of truck beds. While I don't know the exact timeline, the entrance did not remain there long due to the direction the park expanded. They quickly changed to entering a central area where everything branched off from. That entire area by El Toro, btw, was originally parking lot.
The reason that the pathway closes at the end of the night is because that is where the giant float for Block Party comes out of and they don't want guests interfering with its route. There are signs posted at either end of the pathway saying 'this path closes at x-o'clock', so it is advertised, however, it doesn't sound like security fully explained this
There’s a sign near that path in Metropolis stating when the pathway will be closed. They bring the float out and back for the Six Flags block party and close that path for safety reasons. After that time, Security sweeps out guests the other direction.
In the next year or so I’m going to be moving to South Carolina because my brother is turning 18 soon so after that we will be leaving New Jersey I will miss having Six Flags Great Adventure as my home park but I will kind of have Carowinds as my new home park even though we will be three hours away. My parents are also going to be a part of this
The time of the tours are different all the time. sometimes they take you through the lions, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they stop at camp aventura, sometimes they dont. It's literally been different every time I've ridden. Also like comment and subscrobble to New Jersey Coasters and buy merch
i can agree that the layout of sf is not to good, it’s not to difficult to get around , but it’s so big that there’s soooo much walking. it’s built in the middle of the woods (as you probably caught on) so it’s a little confusing.
I miss the feeling the old drop rides like Freefall and The Edge provided. Their replacements don't give me that sinking sensation and feels like a controlled descent vs actual freefall like the OG's.
This is my home park and visit pretty often. I think that path you were talking about is only accessible to employees. It used to be open to everyone but I've seen it closed
During the summer it closes about a half hour before park close because the that’s where they roll out the float for the Six Flags block party and roll it back around closing. There were signs stating this over the summer.
Green Lantern gave me the most raging headache I’ve ever had in my life. What a piece of crap. I lost at least a ride on El Toro (my absolute favorite coaster of all time right now), from time spent waiting for Aleeve to kick in. But everything else was great though I’ve always ignored the long line and 1 note Kingda Ka. Totally sad that Rolling a thunder and The Great American Scream Machine are gone. I grew up with those. Bizarro was pretty fun though. My wife even loved it!
The only problem I had with six flags was getting a fast pass for my diabetes. I had to exit the park and go to ride information which made no sense why it was outside and past security? Also why is it called ride information.
i’ve always felt very lucky to call this my home park because of El Toro and King Da Ka! street creds for those two lmao. not a fan of the superman coaster at Great Adventure, which seems to be an unpopular opinion. i haven’t actually been to the park since 2017, and given the fact that NJ is a hot spot for the pandemic, i doubt i’ll be there again until next summer.
I went to Great Adventure in July of 2018 and had a good and bad experience there. First bad experience was I went threw security and dropped my phone and nobody really did anything then to rush u. But the good. For nitro and el Torro had them flying with in and out of the station. Now for food I had burger and tenders as my main meal and they weren't great I had better. But the funnel cake Sunde was good. Plus there free refill on the cups was good to. Now th only thing that bothers me is the lockers crap for rides. Other then that it was a great park.
Wow. Single day tickets are $84 now?! I haven't been there in almost 10 years, but wow I just can't see the value in spending $114+tax just to get in through the gates.
A Golden Plus season pass costs only $55-70. I know Canada’s wonderland is good, but with respect, I still cannot get how a 330-acre park 10 times than a 510-acre one. Nor the number of roller coasters or visitors per year could do 10 times.
This is my home park I love the rides but the park need a lot of up keep the coasters need A repaint and landscaping . Also why do they think it ok to keep all that old hardware next to Nitro put it in a building where the guest cant see it .
Me and my dad want to go for an amusement park soon, we live in Pittsburgh and we’ve already been to Kennywood and Hershey park. What park would you recommend for rollercoasters and decent value?
I love great adventure! My favorite roller coaster is kingda ka, I bought a season pass because I like to go once or twice a month! I can’t wait until I go to great adventure in September! My top ten favorite great adventure roller coasters: 10. Skull mountain 9. Joker 8. Batman the ride 7. Zumanjaro 6. Bizarro 5. Green lantern 4. Superman ultimate flight 3. El toro 2. Nitro 1. Kingda ka
What Six Flags should do is sell off their underperforming parks, then reinvest in their top parks: Magic Mountain and Great Adventure. Also, stop going heavy with all the DC theming. They need to be more creative and unique. Specially for Great Adventure, they should fix up the parking lot, renovate the buildings along Main Street, new restrooms and restaurants. Next they should get rid of the log flume since it’s standing but not operating. Doing this can lead to a prime spot for a Mack Rides coaster or maybe a B&M wing coaster. I could see this happening for 2026 since Jersey Devil is coming in 2021.
Great Adventure is fun for sure But appreciate what you've got. Magic mountain is head and shoulders above SFGAd. It isnt even close. Plus, Magic always gets the original rides.
I love great adventure and love u Xscream thrills but great adventure has 3 kids areas not 2 they are safari kids looney tunes seaport and bugs bungs bunnys national park also boardwalk is well themed
Nice review its my home park i have a membership and i just wish they had more design to the park to make it look like universal studios but stacked up with dc characters but overall its a good amusement park also i suggest justice league its pretty fun
I’m so happy we’re getting a rmc coaster we need to remove green lantern into a dive coaster I would call it the flash and Batman paint job nitro track paint
Can't do anything about the guests and staff tho, it's like u go to Disney and u find ppl disrespectful what do you do. Nothing so it's not rly there fault also what about nitro
Oooff Lol . I can tolerate bad guests to an extent, if staff fucks up like once thats fine. But these people were just flat out disrespectful. And Nitro is mediocre. Its not even in the top 75 coasters ive ridden and its my least fav hyper not named Desperado or Big Apple
XscreamThrills its whatever at this point lol. Toro is great but I got Skyrush, Phoenix, and i305 near me to give me my elite coaster fix. I dont see myself going back unless if they get a 200 ft + T-Rex lol
@@XscreamThrills dude i was there 2 years leading up to joker being built the place looked like a mistreated mess. and putting joker by the mosquito breeding ground lake!?!??! the floors are a bitch to walk on with the different textures every 5 steps. everything looked unclean, all the dead space that went unused.
They really only do shows during Frightfest. They demolished the seal show to build joker and the movietown arena has been abandoned for a while now. There’s a concert arena near bizzaro that gets used occasionally
Great adventure has such potentioal to be a great park yet they give it no care, they dont make the park look nice they gave it nothing good until now they gotta do something
the only thing i dont agree with is that el toro is the best ride, and thats only because i was hit in the head by a cell phone while riding it and had to get stitches
El Toro was manufactured by Intamin but was constructed by both Intamin and some major players that work at RMC. So in technicality it was a unknown collaboration.

Great Adventure is my reluctant top six flags park, but the locker and camera policies are frustrating despite the great coasters
Yeah, every coaster seems to have a different policy. The lockers are a pain
XscreamThrills That’s due to the state it’s located in. Lawsuits could bankrupt this park easily, and they can’t really afford to be shutting down rides due to incidents. The time of the tours are different all the time. sometimes they take you through the lions, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they stop at camp aventura, sometimes they dont. It's literally been different every time I've ridden. Also like comment and subscrobble to New Jersey Coasters and buy merch
OfficerOLeary shutup Sean lmao. They always take you different ways but they are always 55-60 minutes. One - four minutes aren’t a difference
I’m going there tomorrow. I can’t wait!
Have fun!
I haven't been here in years and God do I miss it
I don’t get all of the hate that this place gets when it comes to the reviews. This place looks pretty amazing.
i can agree that the layout of sf is not to good, it’s not to difficult to get around , but it’s so big that there’s soooo much walking. it’s built in the middle of the woods (as you probably caught on) so it’s a little confusing.
I miss the feeling the old drop rides like Freefall and The Edge provided. Their replacements don't give me that sinking sensation and feels like a controlled descent vs actual freefall like the OG's.
Heading to great adventure tomorrow, can't wait to ride El Toro again
Have fun!
@@XscreamThrills thanks! I sure will!
This is my home park and visit pretty often. I think that path you were talking about is only accessible to employees. It used to be open to everyone but I've seen it closed
Andrew Lachs Well.. they are putting a fright fest trail there this year. They are probably setting it up
During the summer it closes about a half hour before park close because the that’s where they roll out the float for the Six Flags block party and roll it back around closing. There were signs stating this over the summer.
This was before summer season, park closed at 6pm
I am about to go here and I live in austraila because of this, thx ☺️
That sounds inconvenient
Remember when Bizarro was Medusa =}
Even tho its an hour and half away from me, I still consider this my home park. Thank God they got rid of the Great American Scream Machine.
Brian Patterson dude are you serious?? Great American scream machine is one of the most classic and og rides ESPECIALLY for six flags great adventure
I went to the park for the first time after the ride was gone but I was under the impression that it was a favorite
Poptartjoey That doesn’t excuse the fact that it’s a garbage experience and it’s rough.
The saddest thing about my home park is that I can’t drive through the safari anymore without admission.
Six Flags it cost 1 dollar for new naming rights. Six Flags executives "that's too much"
i’ve always felt very lucky to call this my home park because of El Toro and King Da Ka! street creds for those two lmao. not a fan of the superman coaster at Great Adventure, which seems to be an unpopular opinion. i haven’t actually been to the park since 2017, and given the fact that NJ is a hot spot for the pandemic, i doubt i’ll be there again until next summer.
Not gonna come this year to check out Jersey Devil?
XscreamThrills i would like to! but i’m not anticipating the park operating for the summer
Great Adventure looks great
I went to Great Adventure in July of 2018 and had a good and bad experience there.
I been to six flags a lot of time
Great Adventure is getting a new rollercoaster in 2020
Is there a pool there?
In the waterpark
XscreamThrills oh
Wow. Single day tickets are $84 now?! I haven't been there in almost 10 years, but wow I just can't see the value in spending $114+tax just to get in through the gates.
Thats if you buy a single ticket. Six Flags is all about the membership for best prices.
$83 is absolutely insane. Canada’s wonderland is 50 it’s maybe 60 now but it’s 10 times the park this place is
Admission is closer to $40 now if you buy online
@@TheLazySleeperLives oh nice
A Golden Plus season pass costs only $55-70. I know Canada’s wonderland is good, but with respect, I still cannot get how a 330-acre park 10 times than a 510-acre one. Nor the number of roller coasters or visitors per year could do 10 times.
This is my home park I love the rides but the park need a lot of up keep the coasters need A repaint and landscaping . Also why do they think it ok to keep all that old hardware next to Nitro put it in a building where the guest cant see it .
Yeah it looks like you're flying by a junk yard
@@XscreamThrills It's disgusting Like that for years
Me and my dad want to go for an amusement park soon, we live in Pittsburgh and we’ve already been to Kennywood and Hershey park. What park would you recommend for rollercoasters and decent value?
Cedar Point, King's Island, Waldameer (which is a smaller park), Knoebels, Kings Dominion are all good picks within 5 hours.
if you live in Pittsburg cedar point is the only way to go.buy your tickets online and avoid fr sat sun during the summer.
I love great adventure! My favorite roller coaster is kingda ka, I bought a season pass because I like to go once or twice a month! I can’t wait until I go to great adventure in September!
My top ten favorite great adventure roller coasters:
10. Skull mountain
9. Joker
8. Batman the ride
7. Zumanjaro
6. Bizarro
5. Green lantern
4. Superman ultimate flight
3. El toro
2. Nitro
1. Kingda ka
This is my home park :)
I miss when you could drive through the safari and could buy a separate ticket
My mom has been there once, she actually rode Great American Scream Machine
Also my mom actually took me and my brother there, I was so scared to ride El Toro, it was way to intense for me😖
What Six Flags should do is sell off their underperforming parks, then reinvest in their top parks: Magic Mountain and Great Adventure.
They close the back way of movie land at the end of the day cause the employee enterance is that way
I don't care that they close the path, but when you're 50ft from the end of that pathway, then they force you to turnaround is counter productive
Woah Woah Woah. Wonder Woman Lasso of truth isn't the tallest pendulum ride. Crazanity and Joker Carnival of Chaos are tied for first
why do i have to be on the west coast of the United States. i mean i get Magic Mountain but still
Great Adventure is fun for sure
But appreciate what you've got. Magic mountain is head and shoulders above SFGAd. It isnt even close. Plus, Magic always gets the original rides.
Rolling Thunder is gone? That's a shame.
It's been gone for awhile now. Personally, I think they could've saved it but oh well
I love great adventure and love u Xscream thrills but great adventure has 3 kids areas not 2 they are safari kids looney tunes seaport and bugs bungs bunnys national park also boardwalk is well themed
Safari kids, is that the hub stop during the safari tour
@@XscreamThrills no safari kids is the area with safari tours the balloons it's the area in front of looney tunes seaport
Great vid, u earned a sub
Thanks for subbing!
I found Green Lantern to be enjoyable.
Good park,I have been in Europa park tho and it’s way better, and the staff is so good there
Yeah, it's hard to compare a great theme park with a decent amusement park though.
Nice review its my home park i have a membership and i just wish they had more design to the park to make it look like universal studios but stacked up with dc characters but overall its a good amusement park also i suggest justice league its pretty fun
if the bbq joint is still there near the log flume thats where you need to eat. yummy
It's still there
@@XscreamThrills thats where you want to go eat 👍👍
I’m so happy we’re getting a rmc coaster we need to remove green lantern into a dive coaster I would call it the flash and Batman paint job nitro track paint
Jose G Torres yeah green lantern hurt my legs. It would be cool to get a dive coaster
That thing with Movie Town and closing is always a thing and very annoying
I disagree. The stuff and guests were really rude. Park was kinda dirty, and their coaster lineup is carried by El Toro
Well, everyone can have a different experience I guess. Sorry to hear yours wasn't as good
Can't do anything about the guests and staff tho, it's like u go to Disney and u find ppl disrespectful what do you do.
Did you mean Six Flags great America?
The new coaster is called the jersey devil
Yessir home park
Soyburg Soyburg spin 😂 lol
medusa was never themed to a mine train.
There was signs around saying Medusa mining company
yes it was, it was a mining company, and you can still see it on the side next to the sideways horse
I worked here for 2 summers. And boy was it depressing
Why was it depressing?
@@XscreamThrills dude i was there 2 years leading up to joker being built
the place looked like a mistreated mess. and putting joker by the mosquito breeding ground lake!?!??!
the floors are a bitch to walk on with the different textures every 5 steps. everything looked unclean, all the dead space that went unused.
I totally get what you mean with the changing path textures every 5 steps. I was wondering that myself and its a real pain pushing a stroller.
@@XscreamThrills i saw a baby almost get lurched out of the stroller cuz a wheel got caught on a dip in the trexture
one thing you should have reviewed is shows (which is lacking) That was the main reason I stopped my membership. Even SFA has atleast a few shows.
They really only do shows during Frightfest. They demolished the seal show to build joker and the movietown arena has been abandoned for a while now. There’s a concert arena near bizzaro that gets used occasionally
Some folks like Nitro more than El Toro. Those people are correct :)
My wife is one of them
@@XscreamThrills Congrats of finding a mate with excellent taste!
1:16 spoiler alert, it is the best coaster in the park
not me watching this even though i live ten minutes away and go one hundred times a year just because i’m sad i can’t go now and i miss it 👁👄👁
No worries, you'll be riding some roller coasters before you know it!
Green lantern can go away thanks.
Great adventure has such potentioal to be a great park yet they give it no care, they dont make the park look nice they gave it nothing good until now they gotta do something
I think its starting to improve
the only thing i dont agree with is that el toro is the best ride, and thats only because i was hit in the head by a cell phone while riding it and had to get stitches
They just need an RMC Now!!!!
El Toro was manufactured by Intamin but was constructed by both Intamin and some major players that work at RMC. So in technicality it was a unknown collaboration.
Wish granted
Brian Patterson Now they’re getting it! :D
Fyi if you think you’ve been on a long line, go wait for Superman for 3 WHOLE hours
Yeah, I think the max I waited for that coaster was like 90min
3:10
Some of the staff was dumb but overall a good park
The Carousel is better then El Toro🤷🏻♂️
Green lantern is Bad?! Your crazy
I knew I was crazy!
Hi
