Thank you for posting. It’s interesting to find out the true life history of Elfego Baca. I was looking for the old TV show which I remember seeing as a kid and came across this history. I didn’t even know the TV show was based on a real person.
Thank you for posting this. This man was my great uncle on my moms side. He died before I was born but I always heard the stories from my grandmother of her bother in law Elfego, the brave things he did for others, helping the Mexican people from unfair prosecution, the red sash cowboys, Stealing a gun from Poncho Villa, the gun battle and the Disney TV show inspired by him. I am hoping to get an RV soon to go visit the monument and the cowboy museum that my Gramma used to send things to put next to her family's (The Garcia Family) history. I don't know if it's still there but need to follow my family tree branches anyway to see what there is to see. My elders are gone now so I'm on my own, Wish me luck, Kelly Britt O'Brien
If you really study history In the west and read writings of those days of Elfego’s era , we (Mexican Americans who didn’t cross the border but the border crossed us) in this region where my family has been since it was Mexico were referred to as “Native” or “Hispano “. sure as hell not “LatinX”. In fact if your going to use your woke theories to change a language then it would be XfegX BacX. Que no?
