I love your channel - the way you present it is brilliant - there's nothing else like it and I am incredibly thankful that you share your wisdom and priceless arcana of storytelling with us. Your specific humour has made for many a snorting laugh. Not only do I learn about writing - I also get a history lesson - two of my greatest passions. My favourite part is your "commercial break" - inspiring in a very unique way.
Wow. I see a value here for creating narratives that reach deep below the surface into the unconscious of the reader, straight from the unconscious of the writer. This video somehow klicked it for me. It's exactly what I elaborated on for very long now (between all the practical, stylistical writing advices which couldn't satisfy that question: "There IS more, but...") but couldn't get a firm grip on and it drove me nuts, I only knew that the best stories come from the unconscious: But how to activate it instead of just wait? Rarely does someone talk about that. That's where the greatest writers touch you, not the logical 8 point xyz structure/characterization bla. This here is the visualized, accelerated process of the subconscious mind when it generates great ideas. I never thought of mind mapping as more than a necessary tool learned in middle school... Your channel is extremely valuable for me as an aspiring writer, even after years of studying the craft (while still writing novels and rewriting) before I want to publish my first novel next year. P.S. Usually I don't like AI generated images but that book cover gets me. And Hameln (Hamelin, I always found it strange that original names are altered in English) is not that far away from me here in Germany. I was a little surprised that I met this tale in an English video. P.P.S. After I visited your website I'm not so sure about the AI generated cover anymore. Plus Uni Freiburg.
I was laughing so hard at the idea of using my cats for a brainstorming session. 😂 Sadly, I live in the urban US, and it's just too dangerous to let our kitties roam loose, especially when one lives near a major interstate highway in a big city. I love your videos!
says there isn't time to make up a whole story promptly delivers the most astounding plot P.S. that's a nice cat. He will not be confused, though, I wager.
There being a PoW camp in Hamelin, which btw I did not know is a real place before watching this video, is some kind of serendipitous horror. I suppose the mountain in the fairytale is it’s own prison
This channel is a hidden gem. 💎 👍
Thank you!
Now I need to buy a GPS tracking device for my cat. Thank you, Malcolm.
My pleasure! Hope your cat doesn't object!
XD he said "and start suffering today!" in such a cheerful voice.

Thank you that is very kind of you!
I love your delivery. So understated and humble yet your videos have given me much to ponder. Procrastination yet to be overcome…
I love Stanford. He's intelligent, beautiful, and a cat. Thanks, Malcolm
Hey thanks! I will tell Lesli, she'll be thrilled
Thank you! I adore him, he is such a little character and he really is lucky to get a cameow in Malcolm's video!
I had an idea once
Favourite new channel

Yes, I understand it can be quite unnerving living near a busy road with a cat wearing a GPS tracking collar.
@@TheOxfordWriter "busy road" has to be the biggest understatement I've ever seen. It's a bit like calling the Atlantic a muddy puddle.
Damn, now I wish I could read this book.
Oh! That cat's eyes are such a beautiful shade of viridian.
This is maddeningly fun and beautiful
Thanks for sharing, I find it very useful advice to use mind mapping and a random walk in this map to generate story ideas!
My pleasure!

promptly delivers the most astounding plot

Thanks! The cat, yes, great expression!
@@TheOxfordWriter I mean, it's probably easier to puzzle a penguin or baffle a badger than to confuse that cat.

I love this channel
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thank you, my most kindest sir.
My pleasure!
@@TheOxfordWriterI truly admire you, sir. I have learned a lot from you; and your stories are simply amazing.
I found your channel today.
It was a good day.
❤️
Thank you!
Thank you! I love your videos :)
Charming as ever, and now with cat. I need to buy a book... how did you pronounce that again?
This is brilliant! Thankyou
My pleasure!
Can you please make a video about revising a novel?
I'll think about it, quite hard though. I don't really do anything, just read and have a think. Revise, and do it again.
@@TheOxfordWriter thank you!
I love the story. Are you going to write it?
I second that 😊
You know, I just might!
I want to see stories well written without propaganda.
Or just list and number them and use dice...
