The Oakland City Council statement was such a non answer to the issue. How about getting some city council members that can get things done.
Seems that Oakland's mayor and city council have alot in common with SF's. Both cities are imploding and the mayors think their cities are just fine while the city councils are silent.
When I left a decade ago, Oakland was really on the come-up. Sad to see things just deteriorated even more.

The media has known for years that this behavior occurs because there are no consequences but won't shine a light on the outcome or punishment that is ultimately handed down. They could ask the questions such as how many times have these individuals done this before and what were the punishments. They could have made it crystal clear to the public so that an informed public could vote accordingly.

I feel bad for business owners who are being ignored by the incompetent mayor, et. al.
Criminals are being protected while everyone else is being treated like the criminals. Soon this is going to turn into a vigilante situation if crimes aren't going to be punished with harsh sentences. Prosecutors and judges and the laws are pathetic. Crime is just going to get worse while innocent people suffer and struggle.

SF used to be a fun place to go. I won't even go on BART or drive. Not safe either way. Shopping is chaotic free for all if not blocked by garbage from the homeless and druggies littering the streets.
