Absolutely phenomenal interview & story with 1 of the strongest willed women I've come across in my 73 years of existence. May God bless her & her family ❤🙏
She may be one of the most magnificent person that has ever walked this earth.. shes so cool ..such a beautiful person inside and out. How does anyone get this amazing. Shes sweet and humble
18:21 Oksana says, "I'm not a medals person." Then what would she prefer to receive in lieu of a medal? What would she keep as a reminder of what she achieved?
She talked about this in her book. When she receives the medals, she poses with them and is respectful, but the actual awards have no significance to her. It's the achievement behind them for herself. She doesn't need the actual medal, just the knowledge that she got the award and giving herself the permission to accept that she achieved it. It's a self esteem personal achievement and that means more to her than the actual award itself, if that makes any sense. Some athletes love trophies and medals and proudly display them, some have a different relationship to them. They like winning, but more for themselves than having the medal they feel would be more to show off to others. The achievement makes her feel great about herself rather than feeling like she is not as good as others because she an amputee so that is worth more than the actual award, ya know?
