  • A new year, a new tagelharpa! This is my first craft made from professional wood. Wood selected especially for music instruments. All my previous builds were try-outs made from cheaper wood.
This Tagelharpa has a maple body and a fir soundboard.
The audio recorded with the microphone is edited to remove the flat (mono) sound that my microphone creates. It now sounds more like in real (stereo). At the end of the video you can find a phone record in mono.
Now I'll finish my 2 other projects. A Trossinger Lyre and a Moraharpa with sympathetic strings.

Nice job Kevin. Interesting editing too combining the build with the sound. 🪚🎼

Thank you. I made another one with my Trossinger Lyre. I finished this instrument last weekend. I'll now continue working on a home-made Moraharpa. But this might take some more weeks/months.

How about the strings? And ,if you used horse hair , can I use other materials?

Hello, You can use different materials. Horsehair gives classical sound. But horsehair is fragile and reacts to moisture a lot. So you have to tune it all the time. Fishing line (black carp fishing line) can be an alternative. It's more steady compared to horsehair. It's strong and stays in tune. It doesn't react to moisture. However, I really dislike fishing line. While making strings, it twists very easy and it knots all the time. Knots so strong that it's impossible to unknot them. Also it has a smooth structure and slips out of my fingers all the time. You can also use metal strings as long as they are flatwound. You can look for Viola strings as these have string sizes compared to tagelharpa's. Normal violin strings are too short. Cello are too long. However, less traditional sound and your bow needs more hair replacement more often. Also you need a strong instrument to handle the tensions. You can't use flat strings for plucked instruments like acoustic guitar (like vinyl). It just doesn't work with the bow. I now use a polyester type of string that I make myself.

@@MoritzMagicMusic a Little bit complicated , even though, in these days I've made some test , and I found something interesting , then if you're interested in , in a couple of weeks(cause I'll came back home ) I'll made a tagelharpa by myself,is not first instrument I made , if you want I'll show you, and I'll show you all my test, now I cannot because I've tested it on an old Lyre ,but it's not the same obs , so , I'll let you know if you want . Thanks for the answer 💪 really appreciate it!
