- Hasbro has put together a card game that comes from the original Risk board game, but this version is condensed to 20 minutes! Is it possible? Well, here is my review of the game and I hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to subscribe and thank you for your support!

I played many, many games of the original RISK during the 1980s, and STRIKE looks much better distilled (well there has been 30+ years available to perfect it !!), with the Tactic cards giving it an added dimension over some of the other forms that I've played.
One of my favorite aspects of original RISK (playing with the UK mission cards) was the way in which these cards added some great diplomacy and 'social deduction' aspects to the game, where you could (for example) try to make a less experienced opponent paranoid that a third party was trying to disadvantage them in some way, so that they would retaliate, and thereby distracting the third party from (for example) interfering with your mission objective. That was just one of endless possible scenarios, where discussions would rage on about (for example) whether X was attempting to conquer Australia merely for the additional armies, or because it was part of their mission objective (this 'social deduction' angle was way ahead of its time). If there had been a way to alleviate the prolonged dice battles, and thereby shorten the least necessary part of the game, then I reckon the original RISK (plus UK mission cards) would still tick a number of boxes for me.

Risk Strike was a hit with my family group ... and I say that as a family that LOVES Risk Express. Risk Express is still a great game, but this game FEELS more like classic Risk. The only 'meh' experience we've had is that several games have been won by a player simply blind drawing enough territories to win, but it's so quick/easy to setup and play you can get several games in quickly.
Ya, I can see the blind drawing win wouldn't be too cool.

I want to finish that for sure. She is a nurse and was working extra hours and then she took her final class online so she can bridge to RN school that ends next week. So hopefully in December we can get those weeks caught up. Thanks so much for asking!

Can you freely select and take the discarded continent cards that are face up in the middle or do you have to take the oldest card that is at the back?
You can take the top card from the discarded deck on your turn if you choose to do so, yes.
If you have placed two or three squad cards, can you also cancel the attack if you lose a squad card? And what then happens to the already activated squad cards that are still on the defender or attacker? And can you also change the attacking continent in one turn, so that you can attack other players from a different one or choose a different continent from the already defending player?
You can cancel your attack at any time. I'll refresh my memory and check out the instructions regarding whether you get the cards back if you didn't use them. You can only attack 1 player per turn.
